As many of you know, I recently lost my best friend, and the past few weeks have been incredibly difficult. I’ve been handling funeral arrangements and trying to process everything while also preparing to move.

Up until their passing, they were living with me, and staying in this apartment has become unbearable. Moving is my way of holding onto whatever peace of mind I have left.

Despite everything, I’m still working on the chapters, just at a slower pace. I’m almost done, but I ask for your patience as I get back on LMB regular schedule.

Factuals are back! Today, I’ll be sharing some fascinating facts about Himari and her longtime girlfriend, Ashanti Nishimura. Over the years, they’ve become one of my favorite couples, and I’m excited to dive into their story and relationship. I’m even considering writing a side story about them in the future!

1. A Fateful First Encounter

Himari and Ashanti first crossed paths nearly eight years ago under rather unusual circumstances. Himari had been assigned to assassinate a rival syndicate boss and carried out the hit at one of their clubs. Meanwhile, Ashanti—who was posing as a nun—was leading a private prayer session. After wiping out her targets, Himari was shocked to find a nun in such a place and even more surprised to learn that Ashanti was blind.

Curious, Himari asked what she was doing there. Ashanti simply replied that she was "working." Rather than eliminate her as a witness, Himari chose to let her live and walked away. Years later, fate brought them together again at a private, invite-only LGBTQ+ event. Ashanti, responsible for checking in guests, immediately recognized Himari by her scent, even though her voice had changed slightly. Himari, on the other hand, didn’t recognize Ashanti right away—this time, she was dressed in regular clothes and looked noticeably different.

2. The Chase Before the Catch

Ashanti was the one who initially pursued Himari, but after a while, she gave up. Ironically, it was only then that Himari began pursuing her in return. Their dynamic became a playful game of cat and mouse until they finally entered a relationship. Himari, hesitant at first due to the dangers of her work, struggled with the idea of commitment—but Ashanti’s persistence and patience ultimately won her over.

3. Ashanti’s Origins and Struggles

Ashanti is of mixed heritage, half Japanese and half African. Her mother fell in love with a foreigner, and from that union, Ashanti was born. However, at the time, her mother was unable to care for her alone, so she made the heartbreaking decision to give Ashanti up for adoption to a nearby church.

Raised by nuns, Ashanti eventually became one herself. However, as she grew older, she began to question her sexuality, grappling with both personal and societal struggles. When the senior nuns discovered her desires, they gave her an ultimatum: either suppress her feelings or leave the church entirely. For a time, Ashanti chose to hide who she was, but the weight of living a lie left her deeply unhappy. Ultimately, she made the difficult decision to leave the church.

Despite this, Ashanti continued to pose as a nun—this time as a means of survival. She took on work alongside religious Yakuza bosses, using her appearance and past to navigate the dangerous underworld while maintaining a sense of control over her fate.

4. A Family’s Final Ultimatum

Himari once had an opportunity to reconcile with her parents, but it came at a heavy cost. When they learned she was in a relationship—and, more specifically, that her partner was a “mixed-blood” Japanese woman—they saw it as another stain on their family’s reputation. Their pride had already suffered after their son chose to identify as a woman, and for them, this was the final straw.

They issued Himari an ultimatum: if she wanted to be acknowledged as part of the family again, she would have to cut all ties with Ashanti. Without hesitation, Himari refused and chose Ashanti over the family that had abandoned her.

As a result, she was completely cut off, with no way to contact her parents. Despite the pain of losing them, Himari has made peace with her decision, standing firm in the love she fought for.

5. Himari’s Choice and Their Future Together

Himari made the personal decision not to fully transition, opting against gender reassignment surgery. A major reason for this choice is her hope of having children with Ashanti in the traditional way. Although she has mixed feelings about her body, her love for Ashanti outweighs her personal struggles, and she has come to terms with her decision.

To ensure Ashanti’s safety, Himari purchased a traditional home on the outskirts of Tokyo. The secluded location provides a sense of peace and security, shielding Ashanti from potential threats tied to Himari’s dangerous job.

6. A Wholesome Yet Bittersweet Bond

Ashanti and Himari are close in age and share similar life experiences, which makes their relationship both heartwarming and bittersweet. Ashanti struggles with her mental health, and Himari often goes out of her way to do silly things just to make her smile. In a way, it reminds Himari of how she used to cheer up Sakura, creating a sense of nostalgia and comfort in their relationship.

After a year of dating, Himari introduced Ashanti to the Tanaka family, marking a significant step in their commitment. Ashanti, in turn, developed strong protective feelings toward Eiko, recognizing how much Eiko cherishes Himari. Their connection deepened through shared love and loyalty, further strengthening the bonds between them.

7. Sundays Are for Them

Himari never works on Sundays, dedicating the day entirely to Ashanti. They usually spend their time outside of Tokyo, exploring the Saitama Prefecture, going on dates, and simply enjoying each other’s company. It’s their time to step away from the chaos of their lives and just be together.

Ashanti is completely financially dependent on Himari—not by choice, but by Himari’s insistence. She refuses to let Ashanti work, wanting her to focus on doing what she loves instead. Though Ashanti worries about Himari’s safety whenever she’s on a job, she finds comfort in knowing that Himari is strong enough to take care of herself. Over time, her concerns fade, replaced by trust in the woman she loves.

CHAPTER 067- PREVIEW 01 + ANNOUNCEMENT [PLEASE READ]

Hey everyone,

After giving it some careful thought, I’ve decided to adjust the update schedule to every three weeks instead of two. I know this might be disappointing for some of you, and I really wish I could keep up with the faster pace. The truth is, working alone, I’ve realized I just don’t have the speed of a two-person team. I gave it my best shot, but the pace was affecting both the quality and my ability to keep up.

There’s so much to do, and I simply can’t complete over 60 panels in two weeks by myself without compromising the work. I even tried shortening the chapters, but that didn’t help, and it still impacted the quality I strive for.

I believe the new three-week schedule will give me the time and space I need to produce better content for LMB, as well as for Patreon. I hope you understand. I genuinely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

This change will also apply to INKR releases, though thankfully, Patreon is already ahead. Chapter 067 will be out on February 9th or 10th on Patreon, depending on your timezone. From here on out, please use the three-week cycle to calculate release dates.

THE TANAKA FAMILY FACTUAL PT.3 [SIBLINGS & MORE]✨

Season two will begin soon. Therefore, I will be sharing some facts about the Tanaka family to make dissecting the information that will be released in season two easier.

Trigger warning, mentions of suicide, violence against women and children.

1. Heihachiro Tanaka had 5 sons overall. Hiroshi and Hiroki are the twins' names, and they were born to his first wife, Fumiko Otsuke. Fumiko Otsuke was the youngest daughter of the Otsuke clan. She was sold to the Tanaka Clan at the age of 13 in return for territory, bringing an end to both families' vicious gang war. Fumiko died during childbirth at the age of 14, when Heihachiro opted to preserve the twins' lives above her own. Heihachiro insisted that the Otsuke clan provide a replacement if they wanted to maintain the treaty between them after Fumiko passed away. A few weeks later, Umeko Otsuke, 16, replaced her younger sister's place. Umeko and Heihachiro had three sons together: Haru Tanaka, Higura Tanaka, and Hinato Tanaka.

2. Hiroki Tanaka was a few minutes older than Hiroshi Tanaka. Therefore, he was automatically the heir of the Tanaka Syndicate. However, Heihachiro noted the twins' differences from an early age. While Hiroki was recognized as the syndicate's successor, his demeanor was not appropriate for the post. He was a sensitive youngster with his mother's personality and fundamental convictions, as his father described him. Hiroshi possessed Heihachiro's harsh manner and rigorous convictions but lacked compassion. Hiroki loved Megumi more than the Syndicate, which irritated his father. Hiroshi committed suicide by performing'seppuku' when Megumi died of sickness. He chose that method of suicide to protect the reupation of his family, especially his brother. Who was also the boss at the time.

3. Hiroshi Tanaka became the syndicate's successor when Hiroki chose love over power. Hiroki married 25-year-old Megumi Sakamoto, the Sakamoto family's oldest daughter at the time. Heihachiro was strongly opposed, not only because of her age but also because she was a sickly lady, and Hiroki needed children in order to become the Tanaka Syndicate head. Hiroshi was also against the marriage. During the heated argument between Hiroki and their father, Hiroshi's face was scarred after their father attacked Hiroki.

4. Haru Tanaka was the third-oldest brother. His wife, Honoka Kojima, was 15 years old at the time of their marriage, and they had three sons together. Hiro murdered all three of Haru's boys during a regulated fight in front of the whole family. Haru and his wife developed resentment against Hiroshi and his family. Honoka tried to assassinate Hiro as a consequence but was unsuccessful. Hiro kept it a secret to protect his uncle and aunt's families.

5. The fourth oldest brother was Higura Tanaka. Noriko Akiyama, his wife, was 16 years old when they were married. Together, they have four boys. Unfortunately, Hiro also murdered Higura's eldest son and second-oldest son in combat. Given that Hiro's younger brother was murdered by the Akiyama clan, it was hypothesized that Higura and Norika were complicit. Nevertheless, Hiroshi punished them despite the fact that it was never proved, and he lost trust in his brothers.

6. Hinato Tanaka was the younger and weaker of the Tanaka brothers. He had two boys with his wife, Shinju Miyazaki, who was 14 years old when they married. Hinato sacrificed/mutilated his left eye and right arm to keep his kids from fighting. Hiroshi chose this punishment above murdering his brother since he was violating family customs to preserve his children and his wife's emotions. Consequently, Hinato struggled to rise in the syndicate's hierarchy and frequently faced disregard from his father, Heihachiro. These conditions made life on the Tanaka estate difficult, but his family couldn't leave.

7. Because of these harsh circumstances, males born into the Tanaka family were often stronger and more fearless than their opponents.

Regretfully, I am unable to release CHAPTER066 tomorrow as I have not yet completed CHAPTER067. In the community chat, I had solicited feedback on this. I make little announcements in the conversation, so I strongly advise you to keep up with it if you haven't already.

I'm a little disappointed with myself, but the truth is that I only have two hands. To ensure that the new season updates go well, it is ideal for me to be ahead of Patreon releases and Patreon to be ahead of INKR releases.

I need to finish CHAPTER067 as well, even if CHAPTER066 is complete and prepared for posting. I'm very sorry. I don't want to hasten the production process.

I will be updating this post this week, so please keep an eye on it. My goal is to publish CHAPTER066 by the end of December. I thus beg for your tolerance and forgiveness.
