2019-04-02 14:32:03 +0000 UTC View PostRecorded some whooshes using a Mid/Side microphone placement, and it resulted in a lovely stereo field. I'm not including all of them since they're mostly boring same old, but I'll share the most different.
Since you've all been donating so generously, feel free to use these in your works, but don't go and resell them or something rude like that.

I don't reckon angles like this would suit the style, but maybe some kind of intense story would call for it. I don't see an intense story happening though. The colours I'm ripping off Art Lozzi and Montealegre's background art for Hanna Barbera and MGM.

It would be nice to do a cartoon in this kind of style, but combine it with goofy animation movements and such.

The second one looks more finished to me but I quite like the rabbits' designs here also, so it's worth sharing.

Traditional animation is fun! Although time seems to get compressed easily - flipping the pages is about 9fps or so, so watching it play back at 12/24 is pretty jarring, but it seems to synchronise nicely and turned out how I liked!
Krita's laggy as hell with this many drawings going on (2GB!) so I'm wondering what would be a better approach to colouring and cleaning up traditional animation drawings.

I would like to see designs like this in CG. Hopefully David will teach me some.

UPA inspired doodle that's a little wonky, but I didn't have any car reference handy. The wardrobe's based on one from the Armed & Delirious game.
It would be nice to do a cartoon in UPA/storybook style but have a Steamboat Willie kind of plot with visual surrealism and a very basic premise.

Strings and bass done on a Roland D50. Voice sampled with a Yamaha VSS-200.
Just another random ditty idea with temporary sounds. Too much of my stuff now is 4/4 90bpm, I should shake things up a bit by putting a wacky time signature middle section in or something.

Another example of how lovely the Alesis XT:c reverb is. It's like dropping frozen peas on a corrugated roof. (Hope I haven't posted this track already)

I had a sinus polyp removal operation a couple days ago and recovering gradually - I attempted doing some work but it knackered me out, but here's a look anyways!
The main ambition is to get an album released before my home studio's all packed away when I move out to a place with inevitably less space - but that's how leaving the nest works isn't it?

Some interesting developments. I'm thinking structure wise of cycling through again only with fleshed out instruments and introducing new melodies once you're used to hearing it the first time around. The vocal chord is sampled from a syllable my sister, Isabella, sung in another song to be featured in the same album. (Not nearly done mixing that, but will share it once I am!)
The Alesis XT:c digital reverb is something rarely mentioned on the audio forums etc. and I have no idea why. I...

Revisiting another oldie which I don't think I've even posted the original online before, so there's no frame of reference here sorry. It's a daft wobble bass electro-house racket anyways that still has room for more funny noises. Time to whip out the Stylophones and Casios!
The wobble bass is achieved by vocoding buzzy FM synths with Happy Wheels whooshes and Tobuscus yelling. How's that for an indicator as to when I first produced this track?

I couldn't think of any other way around it, this had to be continuous action on 2s. The spacing's a little floaty since the inbetweens had no real thought put into them other than smoothing out the action, but it does the job innit.

Pretty chuffed with this so far, considering I'm hardly roughing any of it. Too bad that means I'm probably going to have to rush towards the end of the production.

I should've got that Martin Parr book, The Last Resort, while I saw it. Oh well.

With each passing Pencilmation project, I develop a reliable system a little further. For example, the Pencilmation peps seem to really enjoy ease-out heavy action, so I've got plenty going in this scene.

Whipped this up together to get the idea down; I ought to work on stretching my vocal cords. There's not even a bassline yet, let alone decent drums. The lyric's based on how I'd ask if any family member wanted to join me for a late afternoon walk.
Pictured is my latest audio gear purchase, the Klark Teknik KT-2A, based on the legendary LA2A. It's wonderful, taming the levels of my voice and piano superbly.

Pencil testing this early can be deceiving, although I'm pretty sure even this early those last two drawings will have to go; it wouldn't flow nicely into the next shot. The timing's jumpy mostly 'cause I put the keys at the end of words (such as "seized") since i'll be easing into them. I wouldn't know how to naturally act out such stilted dialogue however.

Last few panels. I was originally going to make Gwonam all mega detailed 'cause it would be nice to channel Joanna Quinn's wonderful animation. Given the layout and jokes though, it would be too visually cluttered (and I'm just not at that level yet) to work; so I'll go for something crossbetween Gene Deitch and Gilbert Shelton.

Storyboard for the Zelda CD-i reanimate! Though I may have to simplify the perspective or remove a gag or two if it's too dense, or I haven't got enough time say.

Not all that much different from the original except some rebalancing and phasing, but something should come up eventually.
I'm gradually figuring out a nice track list for the first album coming some time this year hopefully.

Feeling the need to add some Funkadelic "Knee Deep" like lyrics to this now.
Some out of place noodling throughout this, but that's how I get ideas to move somewhere more appropriate.
