Paris Finally Meets Bob (1 of 2)

With next week's second half of this two-part short, we'll be finished with our introduction to Bob. I've been so swamped with other work lately that I haven't had any time to do any writing, so I need to turn illegible notes into actual scripts I can draw from. Where possible, I'm designing stories to have points where I can insert adult content, so when it comes time to print, there can be both versions. Also, there remains one final character to introduce--unl...

Finishing Mr. Undercroft

When we last left this guy, he was mostly done. The fog needed to be painted and touched-up, he needed some detailing, but mostly his base needed to be painted. But it's important to be cautious at this stage (especially if you're as anal as I am), as this is when it's important to be looking for all those needed touch-ups and details. Once it's packed and shipped out. it's too late. Any mistakes missed I'll have to live with. Details include shadows and highligh...

Meet Izzy

I know I'm supposed to be posting the final stage of Mr. Undercroft's painting process, but I can't shoot those pics right now. The MATTE VARNISH I used to seal it--and to achieve the desired matte finish-- in fact resulted in a glossy finish.  So now I have to keep hitting it with dull co...

Languorous

I don't remember the specifics of the piece--it may have been a part of the "Women of Boneyard" folio. That seems right. If there's anyone here who snagged one of those extremely rare items, you can let me know if I'm right. I do like this piece, its simplicity and composition. No sexy outfits or accoutrements needed, just a woman on a bed giving you that look.

I apologize for the low rez scan. It seems to be all I have of this...

Mr. Undercroft, part 2

...Sooo, here we have Mr. Undercroft, seemingly pretty much as we saw him last, except for a couple of changes. First, he's got his first coat of primer. In this case, I'm using white acrylic gesso with a bit of black acrylic paint to create a neutral basecoat. I sand after the first coat, but later on I'll leave the gesso "rough", to give the paint as much tooth as possible to cling to. Acrylic can chip off clay pretty easily, so I want as much adhesion as I can...

Abbeycat

This week's Boneyard content is a commission I did a few years back. I actually like this one, the design element of the leaves and all. I love organic shapes; I can get lost in details like these leaves and gourds. And of course it only works because of Abbey's dark hair and black cat costume. Without those, she'd be lost against the leaves.

New sequential comic content will resume in a couple of weeks, after I've finished the...

Mr. Undercroft

Say hello to Mr. Undercroft. He started out as a head sculpt I did just for the fun of it. Basically just sketching in clay. (Here I'm using Sculpey firm, gray. I may be switching to Kato Polyclay, due to Sculpey's tendency to crack. Kato is extremely stiff and may prove too hard for my tendinitis, but we'll see.) Then I was contacted by a lady who had bought one of my earlier pieces, inquiring about a commission. I showed her this head and several others I had o...

The Conclusion of the Boxing Match, uh, "Interlude"...

All good things must come to an end, eh? But when it ends in Abbey's end, that's not such a bad way to end it, am I right? And now you can see how it could be considered canon, taking place entirely in Ralph's addled head, as it did. I gotta tell you, though, I've had my noodle rocked a few times, and all I ever got out of it was a bitch of a headache and some nausea. I like Ralph's experience much better.

The Boneyard content will be returning to the non-adult shorts for awhile, but th...

Fuck-Me Boots for Two

This commission brings up an interesting question: in a relationship between these two, who would be the dom? I can see arguments for either.  Nessie's more aggressive, but sometimes the quiet ones are the wildest in the bedroom (or wherever). And we're all familiar with the cliché of the powerful person who wants to be submissive and dominated in bed. How weird would it be to dominate Abbey, though? It would be the same as with a superhero; you're only goi...

Solidarity, Brothers

After seeing that cancel culture assholes decided to go after Adam Hughes and J. Scott Campbell last week, for the heinous crime of drawing sexy women in tight and/or revealing outfits, I thought I'd show some support by posting this little commission. I didn't have a drawing of a middle finger handy, plus it seemed like that might have been a little confusing. Hopefully this piece is more enjoyable, anyway. From what I've seen, the art in question by...

Abbey Likes a Challenge

Okay, at this point I'll grant you that things may be verging on the unbelievable. However, on the issue of Ralph's size versus, well, Abbey's “size”, I refer you to “extreme penetration” porn widely available online to counter any incredulity. I can't actually recommend that you go take a look at some (if you haven't already), but I can guarantee that if you do, it won't be just your preconceptions that will be stretched. I do have to wonder if the people who are into this fo...

A Fine Art Commission

Occasionally I get requests for things other than comic-related art. Not often, but it happens. When I do, it gets me thinking. I don't have any of my own art on the walls. Never have. I've known other artists who do, some who virtually surround themselves with it. Of course there's the issue of cringiness—when I look at my work, all I see are the flaws. From what I understand, that tendency toward overly harsh self-criticism is fairly common. This is som...

More Audience Reactions...

Drawing Glump on this page reminded me of something—stop me if you've heard this. Did you know that Glump was originally designed to be a puppet? I don't mean that there was supposed to be a fat little demon puppet in Boneyard, but rather that Glump's design was originally that of a puppet I actually got a fair way into fabricating (latex-coated, sculpted foam rubber) before getting derailed. I was planning to do a little show on public access TV...

Audience Participation

I think it was infernalperson who commented that he liked the audience's reaction as they watch. The commissioner did as well, and asked me to take that aspect further, as you can see. I usually try for some degree of verisimilitude in my adult stories (if such a thing is possible when writing about monsters, faeries and aliens), so the reaction of the audience here--or at least the extremity of it--is not something I would necessarily have pursued on my own. But...

Dirty Pair Commission

If these two don't look exactly like my comic art style (especially the faces), that's no accident. I'm always torn when I do a commission of someone else's characters, particularly if they're closely associated with a single artist's style. I feel like I'm stealing if I render the character in that artist's style, but if I do it in my own style, it never looks right to me. (At some point I'll post a pinup commission I did of the Hellboy cast, and you'll...

Abbey Catches Some Air

Now, it's at this point that things might seem to be getting a little silly. A little far-fetched. But I would point out that I recently saw a CG animated porn video called "Planet of the Horse Cocks". In this sophisticated bit of animated eroticism, a woman finds herself, indeed, on a planet where horse cocks grow out of the ground. You might be thinking, Surely you're mistaken, Richard. That sounds like a playful yet educational exploration of theoretical a...

Compare and Contrast

Boobs (or bewbs, for you young folk). Women have 'em; we all love 'em. But why do some people have such clearly drawn preferences, specifically with regard to their size? There's so much more to breasts: shape, color, softness/firmness, where they sit on the chest, all the variations in areolas...and I won't even go into nipples. Personally, I love all the variations. I'm not a big tits guy or a little tits guy; there's room in my heart for tits of all kinds. The...

Abbey has Skills

So it turns out you gain a few skills after living for 2,000 years. Have I mentioned that one early incarnation of Abbey was in a series of erotic adventures set in various historical periods? Never got past the script stage (and probably some costume designs), but it would have been fun. My favorite was one where Abbey was a kind of Zorro-type, swashbuckling hero to the poor in 1790's Venice. Really cool visual potential there. She was even going to have a run-i...

Ahsoka Pinup

Another pinup commission of a character I'm only somewhat familiar with. I know she was on an animated Star Wars show, as a jedi-in-training under that asshole Anakin. Cool-looking show, but weirdly flat and heartless. Does anyone know if that's a headdress, or part of her actual  anatomy? I was thinking of echoing that pattern elsewhere on her body, but not knowing if it was flesh or fashion, I decided not to risk it. As I recall, I researched some...

The Gloves Come Off

Have you heard about this? There's a petition--somewhere--to move Halloween to the last Saturday in October. Always one to avoid hyperbole, let me simply say that the very idea of moving any holiday, particularly one as profound as Halloween, is pure, incomprehensible madness on a scale never before witnessed in the infinite and unknowable histories of the Multiverse. It is pure folly. Just ask Franklin Roosevelt. --Oh, wait, you can't. He's dead. A coincidence? ...

Storm in Modified Costume

How do you like your superhero stories? I tend to like them with a healthy dose of humor, just like my horror, sci fi, and just about everything else, I guess. Hence the tone of Superzeroes.  I just watched The Boys (which I highly recommend, especially if you have a dark sense of humor, and go all eye-rolly at too-good-to-be-true superheroes), and it does easily the best job I've seen of mixing humor with very serious (superhero-rela...

A Proper She-Hulk

Huh. I just came to change this post to all-patrons, and found it without any text. My text disappeared. It looks like this has happened to, what, the last two posts? Let me know if it's happened to any more posts than that. Meanwhile I'll start trying to remember what the hell I originally wrote. Sorry, folks.

Action in the Ring

Okay, continuing trying to remember what I wrote before the text disappeared into a Patreon black hole, I think I was talking about the uniqueness of this "short" (actually insert pages for an existing story). Commissioners definitely come up with some different ideas, I definitely would not have thought of inserting a sex scene in the middle of a very public boxing match. It does make for a fun little detour, though. Especially as the scene progresses and spins out into the absurd. Alert rea...

Nessie Teases Again

While drawing this page, I was reminded of an incident from my childhood that has always made me smile. I was seven years old, and although class was at recess, I was still in the classroom, drawing.  The teacher, Mrs. Woods (tiny, read-headed; a great and supportive teacher), saw that I was drawing a skeleton, despite the calendar insisting it was almost Christmas.  Amused, she asked why I wasn't drawing Santa or reindeer or something else more seasona...

Rock-Hard

Here's an interesting commission. Certainly an interesting use of the golem myth. I'd forgotten about the dialogue, which is what I like most about it. And I like the old couple more than I usually like my background characters. The golem itself is a far cry from my own version, in an unproduced miniseries called Jacob. The title character is a golem made to look human, with the feelings and intelligence of a human, created by a very elderly Holocaust su...

Chastity Belt

Those of you who've read any M'Lady shorts know that they're always wordless: no text at all, just pictures telling a story. I honestly have no idea how this came about. I don't remember ever sitting down and deciding that I would do these little adult shorts in pantomime. (I also never planned them to be fully adult. They were originally going to be playfully suggestive, with teasing nudity but nothing explicit. That obviously didn't last long.) But somehow it w...

Paris Gathers His Courage

I didn't go to Comicon this year, as I haven't for quite a few years now. I always had a love/hate relationship with that particular con. It's a bitch to do--driving ten hours, dealing with the bullshit at check-in, working out transportation, lugging around boxes of comics and work-related stuff...not to mention, just getting around at that con is a bit of a nightmare. The dealers' room is immense, a pretty good walk when nearly empty (which it almost never is);...
