The Man in the Moon

If you've read Macabre, you might recognize Charli, the host who introduces the stories...kind of like the Cryptkeeper, but much hotter. (I was gonna say she's much more fuckable, but I'm keepin' it classy.) It hasn't come up yet, but she also hosts an interdimensional, late-night horror show, and hangs out at The Dark Corner, the bar that connects Boneyard, Fire & Brimstone, and Deja Vu. We'll be seeing more of her i...

A Bad Day for Meg

Some days you get the worm, some days the worm gets you.  And some days a dandy ogre gets the jump on you and forces some anal on you that you might not necessarily be totally against in different circumstances, y'know, if you were drunk enough, and if the guy was willing to spend some time down there, getting you ready...and what's with that suit? I mean, come on...

...At least, I think that's the backstory to this ...

Deja Vu T-Shirt Design

Just a fun Deja Vu pinup I thought might make a cool T-shirt. I think what I like most about the character is her resilience.  She's basically homeless, lives hand-to-mouth, deals with threats that would leave most people huddled in a corner, trembling, and can't access most of her vast powers without reverting to the monstrous witch she once was, yet she always bounces back, always finds some way to enjoy her strange, marginal existence. I guess I ...

A Cute Raccoon

Just a sketch from my "little pinups" series. It's odd, but even though I've long drawn women with animal features, and I've done more than one series that could be called "furry", I really don't get the whole furry thing.  Not just in the insular nature of the art style, but the whole aesthetic. Not to mention that the furry culture has thoroughly fucked up the whole anthropomorphic genre. I'm not judging anyone, but it's aggravating when a group of people<...

Kat Entertains Guests

I am terrible at erasing pencil lines. There. I said it. I wasn't aware of this until relatively recently, however, when my wife got me what is essentially a pair of magnifying goggles.  They look ridiculous, and would be more at home on the sweating, twitching face of a mad scientist, but they work. I was wearing them while inking that I discovered how well they work...and learned of my odd deficiency. I needed to refer to an earlier commission, and brought up a ...

Another T-Shirt Design

I'd love to see this as a shirt, just to see people's reaction to it. We live in such hysterical, overreactive times, you just know there would be some idiots who took it seriously, as some sort of Satanic message.  "Ma'am, ma'am, please calm down. It's just a T-shirt... Although you will bow down to me in Hell!"

To be honest, I don't think Glump even re...

Pixie-Cut Faerie Color Sketch

I don't think I shared just the sketch of this before, because it's pretty bare-bones. It's just what I need at this stage: basic forms, playful pose, expression, etc. This one's trending more toward the cartoony pinup style, which I'm surprised to find myself liking more for some reason. Maybe because it fits with the playful subject. We'll see how it goes when I get to some really sinister denizens of the faerie world.

Betty and Veronica

Here's something a little different: a commission of Betty and Veronica having a pillow fight. Another case where I had to find a balance between my style and the style in which the characters are traditionally drawn. Then I threw in some tits.

And again--this is what women do when they're alone, right?

Falconthorne Cover Update

I haven't had a chance to work on it in awhile, but I wanted to share the progress on the black-and-white stage of the Falconthorne cover. I've included previous stages as attachments, for those interested in seeing the steps. Note that I've enlarged Edgar's hat, to better accommodate his enormous head, and Prudence's face has been altered, as mentioned last time, to make her look a little more sophisticated and dignified. Also, the bokeh-style backgroun...

Got a Minute?

Hey All. Just wanted to give you an update. You wouldn't know it, but I recently had a nasty bout of tendinitis (although I want to get back to the doctor, as I think it may be muscle spasms instead, which could actually be better in terms of treatment), so I spent a week drawing with pain patches plastered on my hand and wrist and ice wrapped around the whole mess. It was slow going to say the least. Basically, I lost a week of work (I tried switching to writing, typi...

Franky Pinup Color Sketch

Here's one with an interesting explanation.

Remember when I mentioned you should never try new media while on a manic swing? I wasn't kidding. After thirty years as a diagnosed manic-depressive, I can work through pretty much any mood swing. I know to be careful of when I try out new things, but when it comes to personal work, I allow myself more flexibility.  It was during a recent period of ridiculous optimism that I tri...

A Happy Marriage

I don't recall the exact request on this commission, but just looking at it, I'm sure it was to depict the perfect marriage. (Is there an emoji for a rimshot?) But seriously, I think Brutus and Nessie are a cute couple. As we saw in a nightmare of his, Brutus is obviously not oblivious of Nessie's flirtations (and possibly more), but he's fiercely loyal to her. Is that sad? I think it's sweet. He understands her motivations...likely more than she does herself. &n...

Pre-Character Designs

What's this, you ask? What's with this low-res scan of a single page of an old short (not to mention with placeholder dialogue)? Well, it's because I'm interested in where characters come from, not just their official designs, but their roots. For instance, Abbey has been around in one form or another for around thirty years, attached to various projects. Meg was originally an adolescent in a sci-fi novel that had nothing to do with a fantasy Old West setting. &n...

Viewable Posts

Last Tuesday's "main post" was supposed to be made visible to all patrons the following Thursday. I made the change myself, but today I noticed that, for some reason, it was still set for patron levels $10 and up. I corrected this (I hope), but going forward, if Thursday comes around and Tuesday's main post isn't viewable to all, please don't hesitate to tell me. You may now resume your state-approved activities. Thank you.

The Stinger

Here's something a little different. It's from Slamhounds again (sorry if you're getting tired of that particular unpublished title): designs for Dash's ship, The Stinger. She's actually a former speed yacht, stripped down, armored and retro-fitted with weapons and a jump portal-generator. The designs have been updated a bit since  these were drawn up. Basically she's a little longer and sleeker now, with less exterior "clutter".  If I ever act...

An Awesome Invention

I came across this one-page comic short commission, and it occurred to me that this may be how last week's post of Abbey and Nessie in bed together came about: Glump trying to get some vamp and gill-woman action. But unfortunately (for him, anyway), his invention works pretty much the way all his inventions do. Although, it's not a total loss, if you ask me. I just wouldn't want to be Glump when the ray gun's effects wear off...

Mushroom Faerie Color Sketch

When I first did the pencil sketch of this, I was intent on the pattern of her wings matching the pattern on her hair, but now I'm noticing that the spots on her shoulders clash with the rest. That will have to be fixed in the actual pinup. But I also noticed that the spots kind of camouflage her with the mushrooms, which makes me think that it might be fun to pursue that theme: faeries with markings that help them "disappear" into their surroundings.

A Private Moment from Slamhounds

Here's a pinup sketch of Dash, in a moment of repose. That's what women do when they're alone, right? Stand around topless holding a gun? I like to think so, anyway.

Getting Past their Differences

Friendship is very important to me. (Don't judge by the vacuum chamber that is my personal life; just go with me on this.) Modern life is complicated and treacherous to navigate; new obstacles are constantly being thrown in our paths. Dealing with these problems can strain relationships. Or worse yet, certain relationships themselves can be problematic. How nice, then, to see the two subjects of today's post setting aside their differences and coming together in the name of friendship. Or may...

"Ladybug" Color Sketch

Color sketch for one of the first small pinup sketches I shared. I'm not doing much cleanup on these, since the point is to show the process, including the messy parts.

It actually took me a looonnng time to come to grips with the concept that artwork often goes through "ugly" stages on its way to its final form. I would do ultra tight sketches with every detail and nuance included, then try to keep all of it intact as I procee...

M'Lady and...Metaluna Mutants?

Okay, here's an interesting one: a commission of the princess from M'Lady getting fucked by two Metaluna Mutants, from the 50's sci-fi classic, This Island Earth. I have no idea how she might have run into them, but mine is not to wonder why. Actually, this one was pretty fun to do. This Island Earth is one of my favorites, and I'm quite familiar with the mutants, but recalling them well enough to draw them, that's another thing entirely. I h...

Skeeze, from Slamhounds

A Shy Faerie

Another faerie pinup sketch, and it's another shy skinny-dipper. I know faeries are often depicted as nude or nearly nude all the time (at least the female ones--I wonder why that is?), but I find it fun to play with relatable human foibles like shyness and embarrassment.  Plus, it's much more exciting to see what's normally hidden. There are few things less exciting than pictures from a nudist colony.

Snow Bunny Pinup Sketch

Here's an example of a pinup sketch using a more realistic style body. Well, except for the rabbity bits. It's been a bit of an internal conflict for me for quite a while now.  Years ago, when I first left comics, I remember being frustrated and confused when I tried returning to fine art after years of doing almost exclusively comic art. Then it hit me: I was trying to do realistic artwork  the way I had done comic art, with no reference. Back in my fine art...

Voluptuous Faerie Color Sketch

Here's another pinup color sketch, along with the original pencil sketch. I mentioned that I'm using markers on these (which are proving extremely useful, but have a definite learning curve), but I don't have complete color ranges, so I'm mixing it up with my trusty old colored pencils. Achieving smooth gradations with colored pencils is time consuming, but I'm not bothering with that here because a polished final product is not my goal. At this stage, I'm just w...

Zez, from Slamhounds

Here we have Zez, Dash's best friend and first officer, from Slamhounds. Zez is soft-spoken, loyal, and probably the smartest member of the crew.  She's also an ace pilot, but she's not a warrior. A traumatic past has left her better able to communicate with the ship's computer systems than her crewmates.

"Afterglow" (Paris and Abbey)

I think it's okay posting this without the Naughty Bits banner, since it's fairly demure. It doesn't always have to be about flushed lips swallowing pulsing, turgid cocks, and sweaty hips thrusting, pounding, grinding flesh against flesh, clitoris against pubic mound;  tongues eagerly probing, hungry for still more penetration; the hot, explosive gush of orgasm blotting out the world for a few dizzyingly ecstatic moments... Sometimes it can just be ...

I Told You There Would Be Color Sketches

Special thanks to Jose and Raymond, whose assistance made it possible for me to get the markers used in these color sketches. They're a real boon, and cut way down on the time it takes to complete a sketch.  I feel almost like a real, growed-up artist now.

I'm playing with different body types in these pinups, from cartoony and stylized to more realistic figures.  Feel free to weigh in on which you prefer.

Faerie Pinup Sketch

Another sketch from my series of small pinups. Mostly faeries and monster girls. I'll start posting the color sketches soon, and post WIP images as they progress. If anyone out there likes faeries, I'd appreciate some input. My faerie images tend to stray from the most common current style (typified by the amazing Brian Froud, and all the artists he's influenced). Do you think this is a positive? Or would a more traditional approach be better? Any thoughts would be app...
