2019-12-16 01:55:53 +0000 UTC View PostHappy December! I hope everybody has been having an excellent holiday season so far.
As of right now, Chapter 2 of DatMK is about 75% completed! I'm hoping to have it finished up in the next two weeks or so. It'll be posted here first for Flying Foxes and after two weeks I'll release it again for Bumblebee Bats as well.
Right now I'm waiting to hear back from a publisher about whether or not they're interested in DatMK, so depending on their answer my ...

To access the brush engine, make sure you have the brush you'd like to modify selected and go to Window > Sub Tool Detail or click the wrench icon at the bottom corner of the Tool Property palette.

The first menu in the Sub Tool Detail palette is the Brush Size menu.
The Brush Size slider allows you to change the current brush size of your brus...

If you already have some base colors for your piece chosen, you can use gradient maps to harmonize the colors or get some cool effects.

Here are some rough colors I decided to use as my base for my character Kjell. These are picked from his reference image and tweaked a bit to be cohesive.
In a gradient map layer (in CSP, go to Layer > New Correction Layer > Gradi...

a collection of my current custom CSP brushes and tools!
* all brushes marked with (undertones) will change color depending on whichever color you set your background color swatch to. this is handy for building color palettes or just keeping your color schemes consistent!
** all tools marked (reference) will rely on a reference layer to work! for example, setting your lineart layer as a reference layer will make the fill lasso tool only fill in your lineart and ...

Clip Studio Paint's last update added a new filter type called Artistic Filters. I discovered it can be really helpful for making backgrounds for comics using photos! It behaves similarly to the EX "Extract Line" function, which is helpful for anyone using the PRO version who still wants to get that effect.

For this guide, I used a photo of a church building that I want to turn &n...

My process for making comics has changed a lot since I began working on them seriously over a year ago. When I started RORY, my process was a lot messier and it led me to making a lot of mistakes I wish I had known to avoid in hindsight. Overtime, though, I've figured out a process that saves me a lot of hassle and cuts out some of the inevitable trial and error that goes into making a webcomic on your own. Now, my process for making pages of both RORY and DatMK is much less stressful!

chapter 1 of DatMK is complete! flying foxes will get first access to the story, then after some time i'll open it up to bumblebee bats as well, before it finally goes public!
if we make it to our goal of 75 patrons i'll start uploading pages as soon as they're available, but for now they'll be uploaded in chapters or half-chapters 😊
please enjoy!
EDIT: chapter 1 is now available to all patrons!
2019-10-12 21:26:41 +0000 UTC View Posta lot of guides and updates are coming soon with the release of DatMK Chapter 1!

i made an additional duotone pencil brush just for patrons! this brush, unlike the other duotone pencils i released, can use any two colors you choose 🌈✏
to use, just set your first desired color as your foreground color and your second desired color as your background color. i recommend pairing a dark color with a light color for optimal contrast!

a set of pencil brushes that imitate duotone/multicolor colored pencils! they work best at smaller sizes and have a more gritty pencil texture the faster and softer you draw. they also work well with gradient maps!
to install, unpack the zip file and drag the .sut files into your brush window ✨
