hexmaniac

The latest Pokémon AZ trailer has been released. The visuals are stunning, and the battle system returns to my favorite Arceus-style mechanics. But unfortunately, there aren’t any particularly captivating characters…

Just as I was thinking that, suddenly, Twitter exploded with a flood of fanart featuring hexmaniac (which should be the case).

I kept wondering, “Where did such an impactful character even appear? How did I miss them?”

Turns out, it was just a tiny silh...

Exclusive Content: NieR: Automata Doujinshi Storyboards (3/3)

In just two more years, NieR: Automata will celebrate its 10th anniversary.
And yet, it still feels so fresh—almost as if it was released just yesterday.

Over the course of my life, I’ve witnessed many shifts in anime-style trends. From the 80s to the 2010s, the prevailing art style seemed to change every three years. I can only imagine how exhausting it must have been for the veterans of those eras to keep up.

But I’ve noticed that this cycle of change has ...

Everyone I know is playing Monster Hunter Wilds, but I'm not.

After watching GQuuuuuuX at the theater yesterday, that tiny, big-busted, overly energetic, and adorable heroine kept lingering in my mind, distracting me so much that I couldn't focus on playing the game at all.

Alright, now that I've finished drawing, it's time for me to become a hunter.

I remember when I was in elementary school, I saw an episode of the anime Golden Boy on TV, where the female lead was riding a motorcycle, drinking beer, revving the throttle, and panting (if anyone knows what I’m talking about). That scene left a deep impression on me because, at the time, I had absolutely no idea what it meant.

Years later, I rewatched that scene on YouTube and finally realized just how suggestive it was. It made me wonder—when exactly did I start be...

I haven't played Zenless Zone Zero yet, and I'm not sure if I ever will.
Because just from the character animations alone, I can sense the danger.

Unlike the usual bouncy, cartoonish character movements in games, this one has a refined yet dangerously alluring design.
If I were a player, I definitely wouldn’t be able to resist spending money on it—then I'd go bankrupt, end up on the streets… Just imagining it sends chills down my spine.

Chidori Kaname

Back in middle school, there was a period when I drifted away from anime and completely immersed myself in online games. Titles like Lineage and Ragnarok Online were practically addictive substances for my younger self—I was utterly hooked.

Full Metal Panic! was the main reason I got back into anime. When I happened to catch it on TV, I was blown away by its high-quality animation. I hadn’t realized anime had evolved to such a level.

From then on, I gradually started watching ...

Yano Erika

It’s been years since I last watched Shirobako. I’ve been holding off on watching the movie because I heard the story was a bit too realistic.

This time, I rewatched a few episodes and finally watched the movie as well—it wasn’t as daunting as I had imagined.

Unfortunately, Yano-senpai only appeared at the very end. But then again, if someone that competent had been around the whole time, the story wouldn’t have had as many twists and turns.

Exclusive Content: NieR: Automata Doujinshi Storyboards (2/3)

I've always adhered to a fixed format for NSFW doujinshi: 24 pages.

The first three pages serve as an introduction, establishing basic character interactions, and then it moves straight into the main action.

At doujin events, I often see other artists producing more pages than I do. Their stories feel more fleshed out, their books have more heft, and they can set a higher price. Yet, even after ten years, I’ve stuck to my 24-page principle.

There are three reasons for thi...

I finished playing MiSide over two weeks ago and watched a lot of gameplay streams.
I immediately wanted to draw something, but because of the nature of the game, I was worried about spoilers and didn’t dare draw right away. Then I got caught up with other things, and now, after all this time, I finally managed to draw something.

Cappie is my favorite character from Mita (followed by Sleepy Mita).
Even though she wears a cat-eared hat, her behavior is lik...

The latest Street Fighter 6 update not only released a video of Mai Shiranui but also a story CG.

It actually shows an interaction between Mai and Juri!

These two are already troublemakers on their own—imagine the chaos when they’re together.

I can’t help but imagine what their interaction would be like.

Exclusive Content: Mai Shiranui

Sometimes, I draw something on impulse, but since the composition is relatively simple, it might not be the best fit for social media, so I’ve decided to put them here instead.

On the day I finished drawing Fuuma Kotarou, I was about to go to sleep. But as I was scrolling through my phone in bed, I came across a new video featuring Mai Shiranui.

Her cheerful “日本一!” (Nippon Ichi!) smile got me out of bed to start drawing again.

This time, Mai Shiranui's hairstyl...

Kotarō Fuuma

I heard that Arale from Dr. Slump was originally just a minor character, but the editor found her so cute that they suggested making her the protagonist.

I heard that Lum from Urusei Yatsura was also originally just a minor character, but the editor found her so cute that they suggested making her the protagonist.

Kotarō Fuuma from Tenkaichi is so adorable—if I were the editor, I’d suggest making her the protagonist too.

Tae Takemi

In Persona 5, Tae Takemi is my favorite character.

It's not just her personality—her outfit also perfectly demonstrates what "genius character design" means in its simple yet impactful style.

However, the game's art style is quite tricky to replicate. If I were to draw her in black-and-white using my own style, I couldn't fully stick to the original design, nor could I stray too far from it.

I ended up spending more than two-thirds of my time adjusting her face—it was so...

Exclusive Content: NieR: Automata Doujinshi Storyboards (1/3)

I often receive emails asking how I create doujinshi and how to start making one from scratch. Recently, while organizing my files, I came across some sketches of old works. Some of these doujinshi were collaborative projects, so I can’t share the detailed drafts, but the storyboards, which serve as the outline, were entirely done by me. Since some time has passed, I thought it would be fine to make these sketches public.

NieR: Automata was a project we decided to work on immediately ...

Yoruichi and Yushiro.

I can't believe there are so few drawings of Yushiro, even Kubo himself hardly drew him.

In some ways, he's even more appealing than Yoruichi (yes, in certain ways).

Kubo is really amazing at designing incredibly beautiful characters and then not giving them any screen time.

Like Halibel, like Riruka, like Cirucci.

I would love to see more of them in bigger panels, and if possible, I’d even wish for each of them to have an entire manga dedicated to their stories.

Today, TRIGGER released the trailer for the new season of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, stirring up ancient memories within me.

It was probably around 2011 (or was it 2010?) when our first doujinshi was based on Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt

It wasn't NSFW, and aside from giving some advice and acting as the driver for pick-ups and drop-offs, I didn't really participate much in its production.

Even so, it remains a fond memory.

I have to say, I’m from the Dexter’s Laboratory and The Powerpuff Girls era.

Even as an adult, I’ve gone back to watch some kids’ cartoons, like Gravity Falls and Steven Universe. However, when it comes to shows like Adventure Time and The Amazing World of Gumball, while I’ve seen countless fanworks of the characters, I’ve never actually watched the original series.

There are some titles that I've been following over the decades, from my middle school days until now, and they've almost become a part of who I am.

Works like JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Darkstalkers, Vampire Hunter D, Blood Alone, and Hellsing.

Oddly enough, it wasn’t until Luce appeared that I realized just how high the proportion of vampire-themed titles was among them.

It’s a pity that I’ve never seen the Twilight series, but I believe Luce would be able to hold the...

The moment she raised her hand in the first season, the whole world thought she was going to slap the protagonist.
But instead, she just patted his sleeve and lightly scolded him—that was the moment I fell in love with Rikka Takarada.

I've always wanted to draw Toga, and I took this opportunity to revisit the original manga.

I hope Kohei Horikoshi's next work will have a female protagonist.

And if the main cast were all women, that would be even better!
