Ode to Toriyama

Toriyama is one of few influences that have stayed with me for my whole life. What a rarity that someone could make something that follows you for a lifetime - the few others in this category are Miyazaki, Tezuka and Sendak. Everygreen (Oli's Playlist)

While writing The Gulf, I found myself listening to a lot of the mid-00's indie music I had listened to in high school. I found imagining what was on the different character ipod's to be a helpful writing excercise. I ended up with a ten hour playlist for Oli. For the book release, I've shortened it.

The Gulf has released...

I can't believe it but The Gulf is now a book you can buy at any book or comic store. 2024 once felt like an impossible year but here we are. 

If you pick it up I hope you enjoy it.

I have been hesitant to speak about The Gulf too directly. At this point, my considerations and intentions would only colour someones reading. That palette could easily be garish. 

In writing the story, I have done my best to create a map that, though interpretable, communicates the path I walked through it. I want to trust readers to read my scrawl. I recognise that it's a common experience to find your own enjoyable path through a work of art and discover that the creators intent...
