Toriyama is one of few influences that have stayed with me for my whole life. What a rarity that someone could make something that follows you for a lifetime - the few others in this category are Miyazaki, Tezuka and Sendak. Much of who I am as a cartoonist I owe to those formative days of walking around the school yard discussing DBZ with my peers. When I revisit Dragon Ball, Cowa, Dr. Slump, or any of his work I'm blown away by his ability as a cartoonist; his drawings practically vibrate with kinetic energy. That and I am a sucker for some juvenile jokes.
