The Seven D*vas ("Devas" or "Divas" depending on who you ask) were a group of seven extraordinary heroines who banded together to destroy a great calamitous dragon and its kin rampaging across the continent.

Here's an old sketch from a piece I did for an art show that's, sadly, been lost to the dead hard drive void. The properties of dragons were not fully established at this point, so this one ended up with normal eyes, albeit four of them.

Earlier on in Rose's development, she looked a lot more like an older version of Petunia, but I figured that was a pretty boring design, so I softened her up a lot to contrast the most likely mental image her implied presence in Petunia's backstory conjures up. 

She ended up having impossibly demure eyes and a somewhat unimposing angry face, as I thought it would be more interesting if Petunia's death glare was instead inherited from her father.

While there are certainly state police forces in several pockets of Flora, there is still a general sense of lawlessness across the world, where grievances are settled primarily via the bounty system.

 The Bounty Office was established roughly 1,500 years before Poppy begins by Handsome George, a tortoise who is currently living out his retirement from hunting by forcing students to punch trees and counting down the days until he kills himself.

Primato is the god of Apes and Japes. Like Sun Wukong, this god used their great strength and cunning to play tricks on their siblings. Now that's more like it. Felis takes their inspiration from the Shí Shī, guardian lion-dogs of Buddhist myth, and is the god of cats and crags, living up to that moniker thanks to their completely impregnable stone armor.
