A dozen or so meters away from the hive entrance laid the corpse of a recently slain Fisher. Aegis and his party had taken it out, then dragged the body close to the entrance of the hive and left it there. Aegis, Rakkan, Snowflake, Lina and Darkshot all hung far back under the cover of the Reltrak Forest mushrooms. Pyri, however, was nowhere to be seen.
They waited patiently and quietly, staring at the corpse of the fisher. Sure enough after about 5 minutes of waiting, a curious drone w...

“Cleanup time.” Darkshot said as he began firing multishots again. With the refresh on his mana, he was able to unleash a torrent of piercing shots that swept through the cavern. With a few redirects he was able to spread the damage to the weakened, singed swarm and finish them off. They dropped in numbers massively, clearing out the cavern floor of fodder around the boss.
“They’re still coming, though.” Rakkan warned as he looked on the far side of the cavern amidst the two g...

“What’s with the ridiculous viewership spike? They're not even in the hive yet.” Shinji asked through the Simbox call he had open with Tommy. He was frantically waving his fingers around, editing the live footage of Aegis’ battle with the Mosmir soldiers just before the Voidreaver had appeared.
“I’m looking into it.” Tommy replied as he saw Aegis’ viewership climb up to 300,000. “It looks like a lot of Feng’s viewership is coming over to watch. The Vindicators took o...

“So, guys…” Aegis walked over towards Snowflake’s resting spot in the middle of the streets of Pakro’Vielle. Standing around him, waiting patiently stood Pyri, Lina, Rakkan, and Darkshot with Darkwing on his shoulder.
“How are you the last one back? They literally read a book in the time it took you to peruse.” Darkshot interrupted Aegis before he could finish his sentence.
“They all had quests! So many!” Aegis replied excitedly.
“Lina got a quest too. Th...

Darkshot, Aegis, Lina, and Snowflake walked through the streets of Pakro’Vielle together, taking in the sights. The large towering mushrooms hung over them no matter where they stood, to the point where it was rare that you could look up and see the actual ceiling of the cavern. They’d taken to ignoring the curious stares and fingers pointing at them by the Plashrim inhabitants, it wasn’t too unlike the reactions that Aegis got from walking around Kordas with his streaming icon. With th...

“State your business, other-worlders.” One of the guards shouted aggressively at Aegis while nudging his spear forward in a threatening manner. Aegis took this time to look over the guards and his surroundings quickly to assess the situation.
All of the guards had [Pakro’Vielle Guard - Level 90] above their heads, with the exception of the one speaking having [Captain Ulaipu(Elite) - Level 100]. They were a mix of female and male Plashrims. The ma...

Not far from the acidic river, Aegis had set up a small stone altar beside the statue of the strange creature that they’d recovered from the water. His party had cleared out a small area around them of moss, constructing a campfire to keep Snowflake and Darkwing warm in the cold underrealm air.
Atop his stone altar, which was more or less just a large stone with a flat top, he’d neatly laid out a collection of flowers, herbs, and fungi that he’d managed to collect from the surroun...

As much as Aegis’ party would've liked to say that the following three weeks in-game flew by, they did not. Killing Mosstrappers over and over again using the exact same strategy got dreadfully boring and repetitive towards the end, even for Aegis.
Use a lure, group up the enemies, kite them while casting challenging roar, then creature harvest them all. The party got fast enough in killing them after the first week that they had plenty of downtime between their respawns to play aroun...

The Mosstrapper scurried up towards Rakkan on the ramp but Aegis moved to stand in front of it. While bashing his shield into its head to get its attention, he released a burst of white light to activate his aura of beauty.
“Avatar of Eirene.” Aegis shouted, erupting into an explosion of white light. With his recent favor boosts from the wall's construction, this granted him a lot of armor. But he was still nervous when he watched the Mosstrapper pull back from his shield bash and p...

“Aye, you said you want how much rope?” Tullan looked at Lina with a raised eyebrow the following morning. She, Pyri and Aegis stood in front of the Night Hunter’s market stall in the town square of Rene.
The stage from the previous night of festivities had been cleaned up, and the members of the other guilds had returned to Kordas through portals a few hours earlier, leaving Rene to return back to normal.
Despite this, though, Aegis could tell the celebrations had had a pos...

From the remains of Krik’lakgoth the Devourer had fallen several pouches filled with gold, many tendrils for crafting, and two high quality items, both above 80%. One of the items was a scepter, and the other was set of black slimy robes that had an interesting option that made the wearer difficult to grab, but Aegis could tell immediately that none of the robe-wearing players were at all interest in wearing it when Quinn held it up to show the raid party it’s item card.

“Peace of Mind!” Miranda shouted. Aegis turned to see that she had used a monk skill to break free of the mind control effect from the boss. As she had, the tendril linking her to the purple orb disconnected and disappeared. Aegis then turned his attention to Sapphire in the cage, under control. Despite her being mind controlled, she was only trying to use her scepter to attack, not her spells, so the bars were enough to contain her.
“Use control effects on the mind controlled pla...

Rakkan’s memory of the former Darxon Hideout’s lower hallways served them well. They only made one wrong turn in their search for the door that led out into the large open cavern underneath the mountain, with a river flowing quickly towards the cliff that transitioned it into a waterfall. Aegis motioned for everyone to hang back but Christoph, Quinn, Erikson and his party, and the seven of them stepped through the doorway out of the ruined hallway and into the open cavern.

Not long after the Wall of Rene had been completed and the crowd broke up and dissolved within the city, Aegis gathered his four party members in the town hall and had everyone take a seat at the round table, not immediately aware of why Aegis had brought them there. Once everyone was seated, though, Aegis leaned over the table to speak up.
“Ok. I’m certain that we’ll be heading to the Underrealm for Luryala’s quest. There’s numerous things we need to do, and all of it is down...

“So.” Aegis spoke to Celestian and Farlion as they sat across the round table from him in the Rene town hall that afternoon. Aegis’s stream was still turned off, and he made the rounds around the room to close the dark blue curtains on all of the windows, then made sure the door was securely locked.
“Is something the matter, sir? Celestian asked him respectfully.
“No, no problems. It’s just, your true potential is currently being restricted. And I’m aiming to remove ...

“Here ya go, the first shipment of stone. More are on the way.” Tullan called out to Aegis as he was working on the framework for the walls of Rene on the western side of the village. Ruffily, Yuki, Darkshot, Rakkan, Amlie, Princess Savika and quite a few other players and NPCs were working alongside them. They were making good progress setting up sturdy wooden logs and planks, but everyone was eager to get started on the actual masonry.

“This thing is fricken awesome. God damn. This might be one of the strongest bows ever crafted.” Darkshot said as he held his new ironwood bow in his hand. It was made of the dark brown wood with a thickly woven bowstring made of Shadowsilk that Aegis had bought from Yuki.
“I asked Trexon to bring some enchanting orbs with him from Kordas, he should be here soon to enchant the portal altar. Once I get them, I’ll enchant the bow with bless.” Aegis watched with a smile as Darksh...

The Beulgadine beast let out a strange cry that sounded like a mix between a dolphin and a howling wolf, baring its fangs towards the land of Rene. Once it had, the Gnolls behind it all let out their own battlecries, sounding eerily similar to the hyenas they resembled. Following that, with the mounted Beulgadine in front, they charged forward towards Aegis and the other defenders.

The party of five traveled with their new pets along the road over the next day, making a short pitstop in Orm before finishing their journey towards Rene. Along the way, Aegis and Pyri were sure to continue their unarmed combat training. Aegis logged back into the gameworld that evening just as the virtual sun was setting. He was standing near the southern gates of Kordas exactly where he had logged out, but no one of his party was anywhere near him. He saw that they were all online, though, and all still within the city.
He felt the urge to send messages to Rakkan and Darkshot right away about the Dreamstate Simboxes, but decided to put it off and wait until he saw them again in person.

No one needed to be told twice, the five of them took off running towards the gate of the courtyard as large and small droplets of ooze began to land all around them. Before the party stood the barren courtyard of the ruined castle of Kolz. While the ground was at one point made of paved brick paths, they’d been overtaken by patches of grass, weeds and moss. Vines, bushes and other forms of vegetation had found its way into the corners and were dangling down the walls of the light blue stone blocks. Time and the elements had done much to wear down the structural integrity of the walls and the castle as well.
There was evidence that towers once stoo...

Rakkan unequipped his longsword and put his spear in his left hand, then tapped it with his right hand to create an echo copy of it. Aegis saw what he was thinking, and quickly touched Rakkan’s shoulder to give him a bless buff. Then, with the echoed spear, Rakkan threw it at the ooze that was approaching them.
