All right, we're starting to hit the back wall of the series in the next few months so it's time to reveal where are weaknesses are.
We have plenty to keep us busy for a while, but any of the pieces on the linked page would be a huge help.

Thanks gang!

Also, heads up for gamers: we updated the VOIP from Mumble to Discord.

A few updates

1. We had fun with the PornHub gag but realize it is not a complete solution. I think it just pokes fun at the issue from a number of angles.

2. We have focused on getting a full Primer series backup to Bitchute. Since organization there is a bit different and we are going to start doubling efforts, Anvil will get its own channel on Bitchute soon.

Back up sites

Hey gang, we have a LOT of conversation going on over at Facebook but the long and short of it is the new YouTube firearms policy doesn't seem to affect us... yet.  There is some language that worries me if, say, a shop loans us a piece and we mention it on air.  But otherwise it seems very targeted towards modern sporting riles and accessories.

That being said, we recognize that leaving all your eggs in one basket is not a great idea.  I've backed up to Vidme before,...

A Thing of Rare Beauty

Every once in a while I come across a thread online discussing whether or not Mae is attractive.  I know with that sentence alone there will be some reassuring comments, but try to resist them this time because we honestly don't care.

Mae's gender has really been a non-factor for the show.  Our whole mission is trying to develop an in-depth history of each firearm and presenting that as clearly as possible in just two weeks of turn around.  Mae was picked up because a...

The exception

I will say, overwhelmingly, everyone was positive and appreciative that we leave politics out.  Some of you, publicly and privately, shared that you're likely not in the same political sphere as I am.  I'm very glad we can share at least one thing in common.

Sadly, this was left by another content creator.

Current Events

I'm a bit peeved because, once again, I've had to drop patronage and unsubscribe from several podcasts or video series I watch.  None of them were news/lifestyle/politics etc.  They were all fiction wholly unrelated to current events but they decided to make a stand, one way or the other, and use their audience as a platform.

Every time there is a gun-related event in the US, and sometimes when there isn't, I'll get a smattering of messages demanding I support X or Y campaign.  ...

Also I just realized this looks like 50 yards because it is.   I had already started walking the target back when I thought to film it.  It was back past that saggy steel barrel.

Decisions and Extras

I read every comment. Most of you said to hide the amount.

Some thought it was nice to see.

But a half dozen or so are much smarter than me and realized I could do both.

So I'm hiding the live total on Patreon and simply leaving the amount visible on the video comments, down at the bottom, like always.  This means those that truly care can find the information on the latest video, maximum 13 days out of date.

I hope that works best for the show and for ...

Thats a lotta comments

I made it through roughly one quarter but we are hitting the range again for filming today. I will be back this evening for the rest, so keep them coming!

I could use some real opinions

Hey gang, I have a conundrum.   Despite some recent channel growth Patreon has actually been hovering around $6k and repeatedly has risen up to say 6.1, but the payout has never actually crested 5.9.  Each month, just as we hit payout there are either a lot of non-payers or cancellations.

So, I've gotten curious and asked some of our friends in other shows/etc who have blind amounts.  I've noticed they have seen smoother growth and less of this stuttering into plateaus...

This took more rounds than I'd like to put through our rarer pieces.  But maybe we can refine the process.

Just a note on my pledges

I've had a few people tell me that they're getting updates on when I support other creators.

I'll try to disable it just because of the hassle of having these unrelated things in your inbox, but I do try and practice what I preach and give a dollar or three to several projects.  Usually creations by friends of the show or podcast that see me through long nights of image and video editing.

I assure you, these creators are helping me keep my sanity while working.

Thank you all!

Following the holidays we fell below our previously celebrated $6,000 mark.  I've noticed a big rush of new patrons and I just want to say I appreciate those coming onboard now and especially those who have been supporting this project long term.

This show is fundamentally impossible without you.  For example, today alone I spent $800 to properly store, ship, and insure one Pedersen device.  THAT is only one part of the cost of that extensive episode.  There are ...

Full Speed Ahead

Thank you all for riding that Patreon blip out with us. I had a lot of messages on the matter but witheld answering until I had a solution.

In looking for alternatives I found we have options but all were as bad or worse than the new method. I am glad we did not have to migrate.

In addition we have now breached $6,000 a month, an amount I had not even dreamed necessary but now find to be critical.  Thank you all for this support!  I won't lie, I needed this pat on the bac...

Trip update and bonus video

I would call our trip a success, but one that came at great expense of time, cashola, and sanity.

Despite my preparations including a full inspection of the Suburban, we managed two breakdowns that put us off the road, one for half a day and the other for just a walk to top up a new slow oil leak.

Driving, despite trips to two mechanics on the road, is still hazy.  I suspect they missed the hubs when replacing the ball joints.  Interestingly, I couldn't feel even a b...
