attempting grisaille method for this. the plan is to then use gradient mapping with some over painting, for the color. it's lookin rough so far, here's to hoping i can pull it off!

rough to refined sketch

got inspired to draw some Quinn last night. started with her sitting back, falling out of a club dress, but it got too stiff. went back to a more plump sketch that had alot of expression. sometimes it takes like 5 or so realllllly rough sketches to figure out something you thought was clear and simple in your head. sometimes you gotta start from scratch and try again, even if you've already put an hour into a different sketch...if its not working, its not working, best to go back before it's ...

unfortunately, it looks like i have to push back the date of completion for this project. i am SUPER grateful for the support i have gotten but unfortunately, i just ran out of time this month with a few commissions taking much longer than planned :/. the daki should be ready by mid february i think. the front side is almost entirely done save for some small nit picky things. i just have to complete the backside now.

and THEN i need to decide which two are actually going to go up on ink...

now with harness!! |(of which i had to redraw a few times till i realized this style looked best on him) just need render in some wrinkled sheets underneath him and i'll be done with the front side. i think im gonna keep the rest of the pillow white....tried some other colors and none of them really looked good :/

i started painting this thing last night. gonna try and keep it rough, cuz im diggin the painterly look and also i just ain't got the time to render it super smooth and detailed. its all on one layer atm. this seems to be Hearts favorite way to pose for my camera.....

so i wrote down my like "script" for the lil zigg and crunchy comic i wanna do. and this was a panel i've had in my mind from it. needed a break to doodle a fun thing so i tried this out to see if i could even manage what was in my head.

i think it worked

cow paint process

felt the need to paint so i took that cow girl doodle and tweaked it a bit. heres some images of my painting process. started with laying down quick flats under the sketch, and then paint directly onto the sketch. so for the most part, its all one layer (save for the background grey, and the eyelashes and necklace)

wooo the zigg/jimmy stewart painting is done!

i painted this in a sort of roundabout way, which prolly took longer than painting straight from flats....but the technique might help me later with other non-photo ref'd stuff.

ziggy stewart shaded version

so this is the finished version of the image where I just shaded over the flats. Despite this being a black and white image, I decided to keep my usual brown lines and not desaturate them, because I liked the warmth they give. still a little unsure if that's the right choice or not, but hey, it stays true to my style.

Next up is the painted version...and that one is almost done :o
