Friends together

Organising a group photo shoot can be hilarious and it can be awkward. This had the potential to be disastrous. These three guys were all good friends and two of them had a bit of a history together. This week I've been packing to move house and over the weekend I decided it was time to get rid of a LOT of DVD's that I've been moving from house to house for too long. Getting Wet

After two solo gallery exhibitions I was thinking of what I might do for a third if I planned one. Lots of my photo shoots are in or near water and even personally, water is therapeutic to me and relaxing, so a series based on that idea was on the cards.

Most of the time I work in the studio I opt for a darker vibe, a mid-grey or black backdrop with some moody body paint or some other bizarre option. With this gorgeous model Will, I thought a lighter approach would work best. Freedom Trailer

My second solo gallery exhibition was held 8 years ago and it was called "Freedom". In contrast to my first exhibition which dealt with my insecurities and was shot exclusively in the studio, this one had a much more positive vibe. The shoots were all done outdoors in natural light. Bohemian Wallpaper

Leonardo was a beautiful bohemian soul who was in Sydney. I stumbled across him on Instagram and asked him if he'd be interested in modelling. He'd never done it before but was fantastic.

Covered in tattoos with some piercings he was an unusual choice for me but there was a real sex appeal about him. He left Sydney shortly after to go home to Italy so there was no opportunity to work together again.

Blue Skies - Download

Kyle is a dancer from the U.S. who for a while (definitely pre-covid) was travelling here to Sydney regularly on Cruise Ships. He got in touch and we did two different shoots on the same day. What a sweet and beautiful man he is. Kyle was just so lovely to work with.

Outside the box

Social Media is a blessing and a curse for photographers and creators. A blessing because it is a free and easy way to connect with followers, get feedback and promote our work. 

Why is it a curse? Because it promotes sameness. Instagram now has accounts parodying how all "influencers" take the same shot. Think of a traveller standing on a cliff edge facing out over a gorge. The Bay - Download

Gordon's Bay is a hidden gem on the Sydney coast line. Obviously it's not that hidden but because there's no real beach it doesn't get crowded like all the other spots. As a result it's not wildly uncommon to have one or two nudies discreetly sunbathing amongst the rocks.
