Media Library cleanup preview

This upcoming feature runs scans and cleanups to ensure that when directories and removed and updated, the media is removed and updated. It ain't much but it's hard work for your privacy.

This also contains all changes from the upcoming 13.2.0 release. Please post if you want any macOS builds.

V12 release!

Here's our first V12 release. We are so excited about this complete rewrite of our GUI! It is built using modern tooling and will let us develop far more quickly than the old one did. The old one is still there for those who want it, though.

When you start UMS, it will open in your web browser. The first time it runs, it will offer you the chance to create a user, or to disable authentication:

This week we tagged a release of 12.0.0 and almost had it out the door, but then noticed a couple of serious bugs, so we have held back the release to get them fixed.

Thanks to your donations, we have finally been able to sign and notarize our macOS releases, which means you no longer have to jump through hoops to install UMS on macOS. This is a big milestone and really validates the decision to do these releases on Patreon. Thank you!

There are also some significant other improvements in this release, like fixes for the web player and support for settings updates without restarting the server.

Web settings pre-release

We have been working hard on moving our settings into the browser and wanted to give our Patrons a peak of that work.

You can open it by clicking "Settings" in the system tray menu.

In addition to giving a more modern interface, it also lets you change your server settings from any computer instead of just one. We have also added user management features to let you assign different users with different permissions.

This release adds a build for Apple ARM devices, which has been our most-requested feature recently. Users of this build can expect a roughly 3x increase in transcoding speed/efficiency.

Apple M1/M2 preview build

We have been working on adding a release for Apple M1 and M2 (ARM) CPU users. The current version of UMS works on them already, but it does not take advantage of the speed/efficiency benefits.

Here's a preview for you to try before our next release. You should expect to see roughly 3x faster transcoding speed.

We have been hard at work on our next major release, and while it's not quite ready for a public release, we want to give our Patrons a preview. Any feedback is very welcome!

It is worth noting that all API metadata will be cleared the first time this version runs, because we need to re-fetch it. As always, it's a good idea to have the startup scan enabled, since that will pre-cache entries to give you the fastest browsing when it finishes.

We have lowered the cost for early releases tier from $3 to $1. Thanks so much to those of you who are currently paying $3. We are still experimenting with the right tier configurations for you all, so we will see how this change goes.
