Octolapse V0.4 Stable Finally Released!

It's been over 1.5 years and 650 commits since the last stable release of Octolapse.  At long last, I've gotten V0.4 out the door!

As of the time of this writing, I've submitted the new version to the official OctoPrint plugin repository, and I have published a new stable release on Github.  I've also improved View Post

Octolapse 0.4.0rc2 Released!

I took a couple weeks off from Octolapse development to finish up the new Arc Welder plugin, so it has been a while since the last RC was dropped.  However, this gave me more time to gather and fix issues, and there were a few big ones fixed in this release.  There were also a couple enhancements.  Check out the release notes for more details, and please consider installing ...

Introducing Arc Welder - Compress Your GCode and Reduce Stutter

If you visit the OctoPrint Forum you may have seen a thread about the new Arc Welder plugin (formerly known as the Anti-Stutter plugin).  If you have not heard about it, basically it converts G0/G1 commands into G2/G3 commands.  This has three primary benefits:

1.  Your  GCode...

V0.4.0rc1.dev5 Released!

With the release of OctoPrint v1.4.0, getting the the next version of Octolapse out is extremely urgent since Octolapse V0.3.4 is not compatible.  This new version contains many bug-fixes, including a change in 2020-03-07 00:26:42 +0000 UTC View Post

V0.4.0rc1.dev4 has been released!

Feedback from the previous release was pretty good, but a few issues were found and fixed. Since I'm trying hard to get v0.4.0 out the door, I decided it was time to push up the bug fixes and keep pressing hard.  Each version has been more stable than the last, so I have a really good feeling that V0.4.0rc1 will drop in the next week or two.  Many more people will be notified when that version drops, so I expect an uptick in issues. Hopefully I will still be able to get V0.4.0 out t...

Octolapse V0.4.0rc1.dev3 Released!

It's been five months since the last release, and in that time a lot of progress has been made. Many bugs/limitations were found and fixed, gaps in the functionality were filled, and a whole lot of debugging and testing was performed.  And you all made this possible!
For a complete list of changes, see the release notes.  Here are some highlights of this new version:

Multi-Extruder/Multi-Material Support Coming Soon

I've gotten a lot of feedback recently on the newest dev release, including feature requests, bug reports, and the like.  One showstopper was a failure of the automatic slicer settings extraction for PrusaSlicer when multi-material mode was enabled.  This was a big problem, basically preventing my favorite feature from working for anyone with an MMU1/MMU2.

Further investigation showed problems with Simplify3D with multiple extruders enabled.  Cura was basically reporting ...

V0.4.rc1.dev2 Released!

So, lots of bugs were found and fixed in the last pre-release version.  Some new features were added to fix some reported issues, and a few options were removed either because they weren't working properly, or are now unnecessary.  See this link for more info on what has changed.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this release!

New Development RC Released!

After over 9 months of development, a pre-release candidate is finally available!  A little over half-a-dozen individuals have tried it out already, and many issues were discovered and fixed since then.  However, much more testing needs to be done before V0.4.0 is ready for public consumption.

If you want to help test the new version, you can do so by either:

1.  Install the new version from the plugin manager using this link:  2019-08-22 17:03:34 +0000 UTC View Post

As promised, here is a link to the results of the printer ownership survey I posted a while back.

Octolapse V0.4 Preview - Episode 3: Fully Integrated Help

Getting help has never been easier now that it has been fully integrated within Octolapse.  The new system uses markdown and showdown.js to create fully formatted help, all self contained within Octolapse itself.

Version 0.4 Update

Additionally I wanted to give an update on the progress of version 0.4.  I'm in the testing phase now, and don't foresee any new features being added.

V0.4 Preview - Episode 1 - New Webcam Settings

So the title here is maybe a bit confusing since I've already posted a video showing a preview of some of the new features in Octolapse V0.4.  However, SO MUCH HAS CHANGED!  Things are really starting to come together finally, though, and I think it's time for a new video.

Originally I had planned on releasing one long video showing all of the changes and enhancements, but I was having a LOT of trouble doing that.  The video was way too long, I always missed things, and i...

What make/model printer(s) do you own?

I've created a printer profile repository that can be used to simplify setup for Octolapse, and I want to know how popular each Make/Model is so I know what types of printers to start with. It takes quite a while to hunt down all of the necessary settings to create a complete profile, so it makes sense to start with the popular models. If you'd like your printer to be supported, please fill out the following surv...

V0.4 Sneak Peek

The V0.4.0dev1 is nearing release, and I thought some of you might be interested in seeing some of the new features.  I have been focusing on the 3 things in this release:

1.  Simplify Configuration

I've added new automatic slicer settings configuration.  It is compatible with Slic3r PE and Simplify 3D right out of the box.  It will also work with Cura, but you must copy/paste in a settings template into either your start or end gcode, which is pretty simpl...

Tweak your webcam settings with ease

I just finished a few new pages to make adjusting your webcam image much faster and simpler.  Instead of clunky text boxes, you'll soon be able to use sliders.  The controls will update a live preview as you adjust the settings.  No need to use two browser windows or continuously click 'apply'.

You can get to the enhanced webcam settings the old way, by going through the camera profile settings.  Or you can click a new 'gear' icon within the 'latest snapshot' preview...

Octolapse v0.3.4 is now released!

At long long last a new stable version has been released!  Thanks to EACH and EVERY one of you for supporting me through this process!  Patrons have provided financial, technical, emotional and spiritual support, and I very much doubt that this new version would ever have been released without you.  Check out the about page in the Octolapse settings and you can see just how much su...

A new release candidate is available (finally)!

At long last v0.3.4rc1 is now available!  It contains a few bug fixes from the last version.  I've added all of the new patrons to the about page (THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU) as well.

Unfortunately I had to remove some enhancements to help with Makerbot compatibility (G161/G162 support) since I was unable to verify the behavior of the new gcodes in a timely manner.  I will revisit this as soon as v0.3.4 is ready.

You can find more information about the new release here...

Pre-Release - 0.3.4rc1.dev0

So some of you are probably wondering why I skipped over another release version.  It's the same reason as last time:  some of the settings changes aren't compatible with old versions of Octolapse.  I've done my best to migrate as many settings as possible, but any custom snapshot profiles you have created will be replaced with the new default settings.  I have vowed to add no new features until 0.3.4 stable is released in order to get a newer version out to the masses.

External Cameras - Capture Images from DSLR!

Since I'm waiting for feedback on the latest release candidate, I've had some time to look at a great new feature:  External Camera Triggers.  Now I've got something working!

In the devel branch of Octolapse (requires OctoPrint 1.3.9rc3 or above), there is a new option in the camera profiles called 'Camera Type'.  The default is webcam, but there is another option:  External Camera - Script.
