Part II Side Story - Reality Check

Well, hello there.

Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey. It's been a long time (；´∀｀)

WARNING : long rambling incoming.

Uh, yeah, sorry for disappearing, I think I owe you guys an explanation especially since I was supposed to return in autumn 2020 and, yeah... In my defense, I had a real reason for not coming back then even though I said I would. My dog unfortunately died a few weeks after my last post, and as you can guess, I was kind of down. I also mentioned dealing with some pretty serious issues back then. Long story short, because of a single administrative error, my family was almost evicted ^^' And with the COVID, the quarantine and all the delays, it was especially complicated to reach for this or this institution (it's all fixed now btw, don't worry). So yeah, that plus my dog's death, my motivation to write just kind of disappeared for a while.

I kept writing now and then, but I wasn't nearly as productive as before, so even though I had a few chapters ready, I didn't want to come back just to disappear again once they ran out. But at the same time, I wasn't exactly sure when my motivation would return, so I was like "Yeah, it's fine, I'll just write tomorrow, there is no need for an announcement." But then tomorrow became the day after, and the day after, the day after again. And as you can guess, this situation lasted for an entire year :')

Then came 2022. My family's situation was settled, I moved into my own home, I adopted another cat AND another dog, all was great ! I finally felt ready to truly invest myself back into the story, but... Well came another problem. This one is entirely on me. It had been almost two years I hadn't written back then, and so, a lot of things had change. I had changed, my taste had changed, my style had changed, and... I wasn't satisfied with the story anymore (ﾟωﾟ；) When I went back to it, there were a lot of things I found cringe, and yes, you might think it's ridiculous (it is), but I became obsessed with fixing them. And as I planned more of the story, there were also a few plot holes I noticed. Basically, I wanted to rewrite the entire story. Which I did. Or tried to. As it turns out, rewritting an entire story without changing any major plot point, and just changing the style or a few things here and there isn't funny. It quickly became a chore, and the motivation I found again disappeared lol. Oops ! I took a break, went back to it, but it was tedious so I took another break, and another, and another. Heh. Perfectionism and being overly self-concious is a very bad combination. And guess what ? Poof ! Months passed again ಠ‿ಥ I still loved the story overall, and I still had so many ideas for it so I didn't want to drop it, but I made very little progress.

But then I watched Arcane, and long story short, I kind of became obsessed with it and I fell into fanfiction. And my spark suddenly came back. It's silly, but until then, I had almost forgotten how fun it was to write, to share my story with others and interact with readers. My fic was supposed to be a side project I wrote whenever I didn't feel like writing [ The Administrator ], but I quickly found myself spending much more time on it. Then it hit me that it was just not ok, and that I couldn't keep doing this. That even if I did finish the rewrite, by th time I did, my style would have changed again and, again, I wouldn't be satisfied with the first few chapters. Because the exact same thing happened with my fic lol, and it had only been a few months.

So yeah. It's stupid, I know, and it's ridiculous it took me so long to realize it, but I've come to terms with the fact I need to embrace my evolution as a writer rather than cringe at it. And so, I gave up the rewrite ( ◡‿◡ *) The story is imperfect, I'm perfectly aware of it, and it will stay this way. It was my first story, I still love it, and I want to have fun writing it again. More over, I think I've made you guys wait long enough lol. Perfectionism is not it. I decided to embrace the story as it was, flaws, plot holes and all, and work from here.

So here we are ! This one sentence is long, long overdue but... I'm back !

About what's next...

Hey guys !

I'm very sorry for the radio silence, I had some pretty serious issues IRL, and the whole quarantine situation and the finals coming did not help in making things easier.  The quarantine is over now, my finals too, and while my problems aren't entirely settled yet, my situation is much better now. Sorry for worrying you !

Now then, I'll be back to writing now. For those of you who cancelled your membership during my absence, if you could please send me a message with your email, I'll send you a link of the next couple of chapters as it's difficult for me to keep track on all my patrons. I do owe you a few chapters after all ^^'

That being said, another announcement : I'll be rushing the chapters as much as I can during the holidays, but I will not be able to keep a steady schedule once the school term resume. The upcoming year will be critical for my future, and so, I'll have less time for writing. So here's a question for you guys. Would you prefer shorter chapters (about 2K words) with weekly releases, or should I keep my current chapter's length (about 4K-6K words) and switch to biweekly releases ? (Do note, however, that this future schedule is only an idea for now, and that it is still subject to change)

Part III Chapter 46 - Departure

Well, I had planned for a double release this week, I guess not...

Just so you know, guys. I'm sick.

DON'T PANIC, I'm not dying (yet). But I feel really sluggish and, as you can see, I'm really slow. I sleep way too much, and the rare times I'm awake, I have troubles focusing. 

So. The next chapter is already partially done, but the next one isn't. So if, IF there is a double release next week, there will most likely be a side chapter, as side chapters are also partially done. So, sorry for those who are impatient about the main story ><

Well... I have greatly underestimated the situation. I'm so sorry guys >< 

But I have good news ! I have officially finished all my home assignments and I am no longer working, so I'll have much more free time now. I still have a few things to settle as I had a power outage recently (yeah, they like to add a bit of challenge to the quarantine here), but I should release the next chapter tomorrow. I'll also try to release all the due chapters in the upcoming days.

Hurray to the Coronavirus !

Alright, bad news people.

Today, all educational intitutions closed in my country to prevent the COVID-19 to spread. And they'll remain close for quite a while it seems.

So, why is it bad news? Well, because my schedule just became erratic.

For those who didn't know, I look after children as a part-time job. But now that the schools are closed, they are thousands (millions?) of children out in the street during the day. And so as a babysitter, my working hours have significantly multiplied. It went from 9 hours a week to over 40 hours.

So, my deepest apologizes, but I clearly won't have the time anymore to write and edit two chapters a week. For now, I'll temporarily switch to only one chapter a week. And since I was called on emergency today, I couldn't finished editing the chapter I was supposed to publish yesterday, so I'll release it sunday.
