makin bubbles

made a lil patreon exclusive video on bubbly sound design using operator, and attached the rack built in the video below. Pretty simple in concept but you can make a tooon of different sounds with just these basic techniques, from bassy kick-like percussion to bird sounds and whistles - at the end of the day its just a bunch of random pitch + filter modulation over a sine wave.

3d Spatial Panner rack

Howdy,

Its been a minute since I've uploaded anything - Ive been working at Dolby as an Audio Systems Intern for the past ~7 months, working on spatial audio/dolby atmos prototypes, helping do scientific research on sound localization, and learning about speaker systems. It's been fucking awesome, and I feel very lucky to have had this opportunity.

That's coming to an end now, and I'll be able to turn more focus onto creating some content and sharing some things that I've learned...

Resonance Clipper device, and a new Discord!

howdy folks, here's the device for the latest tutorial on resonance clipping/distortion. I've been having a lot of fun with this concept in the past couple of weeks, especially for really weird neuro basses and making percussion sounds

if you've seen my livestream 'make downtempo?' https://youtu.be/ISXytRRHjT8?t=4664 in the second half i start a pretty interesting neuro/downtempo/spooky tune with these techniq...

inharmonic/harmonic modulating sub bass

Here's a quick lil device I've made recently, experimenting with inharmonic sub basses. This idea came to me while playing the didgeridoo, and purposefully singing off-key with the bass drone at the same time to create tremolo and inharmonic modulations

essentially this is just an operator sub bass patch, where the first oscillator is just the fundamental, and the second oscillator is all of the harmonics. there is an LFO controlling the pitch of only the harmonics, wobbling with vibr...

Vocoder sound design racks

Here are some racks for my latest ableton tutorial on vocoders - The first two are the nested vocoder racks that let you automate through different band amounts.

The 'pq VOCOTT' is just a 40band vocoder followed by an OTT, with important macros mapped. I reccomend using this one on general bass and glitch sounds that you want to sound clean, because it uses way less cpu than the other racks.

Have fun, feel free to ask questions etc etc.

More Stereo Imaging racks etc

Here's some racks from the latest video and then some --

The tri-circular pan is something fun I've been playing around - It is a spellbook + three mini racks. Take each of these racks and throw them on three seperate audio channels for what you want to have panned. Then automate the 'spin offset' of the main rack, and it will rotate all three audio channels around in a circle around the listener, with them all positioned in a triangle relative to eachother.

So my workflow for thi...

Squelch Generator + mini tutorial (patreon exclusive)

Following up with a patreon request for expanding upon my Tipper Squelches tutorial, I made a lil walkthrough on building an improved squelch generator rack and go over how to use it and some of my workflow.

You essentially automate the 'input' knob for filter + pitch movement, and then every other knob will modulate how that initial 'input' automation works. sooo you're automating how your automation is automated by the spellbook.

a download for the .adg for the squelch generator...

Stereo Imager (Doppler Shift, 2d panning)

Here are the racks from the latest video on stereo imaging;

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=157mQXGDGZU&

Keep in mind you need the Spellbook from Hypnus Records installed for the main stereo imaging device to work.

The headshadow pan and distance_doppler devices are the devices constructed within the main stereo imaging rack, so you may use them freely for whatever

Hope you enj...

Sounds, Textures n Glitches mini sample-pack

First and foremost, I want to sincerely thank you for financially supporting me - the idea of making any sort of income from music felt like an unrealistic pipe dream, and it's been very very cool to say the least to see my thoughts and lil nuggets of wisdom be appreciated and validated.

I've collected a few sound design sessions, mostly composed of textures, glitches, and all sorts of ear candy that I've been coming back to and reusing in projects for awhile now that I think you'll app...

Sound Generators and Audio Effect racks, oh my!

Here is a collection of some of my most used audio effects, some of which are already covered in my videos and some of which never will.

The Stereo Filter + Swap Delay, and Shepard Rack require the Hypnus Spellbook to operate.

When using the dynamic funky sub, make sure to sidechain to your kick within the deactivated operator patch. Within that patch is also the location of the dynamics generator -- so you create dynamics within the operator patch, and control pitch movement with...
