Decor with a Purpose: Functional Coat Racks
Not only does this give some objects a purpose, but it also lets you change your sim into and out of outerwear without going into a picker. Nothing fancy, just put on outerwear if you're not wearing it and take it off (change into everyday) if you are.

Decor with a Purpose: Functional Tissue Box
Now when sims are sad they can "Cry it Out" with tissues instead of crawling into bed. Plus, when your sims have a cold or allergies, they can now blow their nose to get a 4 hour "Temporary Relief" buff in an attempt to offset the symptoms they're experiencing (just don't do it too often or you'll make things worse). This will not make them stop being sick, but it will make them feel better for a little while.

I realized that I don't actually like this as much as I thought I would in practice and will not be updating or improving upon it. I will leave it up for anyone who wants it, but that's it.

Multi-Purpose Furniture: TV Stand/Stereo
Here's the object I decided not to include in with the Surface/Bookshelves. I know that’s probably supposed to be a DVD player or whatever, but why not a CD player so it can actually do something? After all its not like there’s DVD player functionality in game.

EA has updated the object to have functionality without mods so there is no point in using this anymore.
We have ways to heat houses now, but the radiator from the Vampires pack remains useless without mods. So here's my take on functionality for it including your choice of a Vampires only version or one that functions as a Seasons thermostat.

Continuing my mission to make decorative items useful, I’ve made something more custom than just moving some tuning around. Now when a sim is taking a shower or a bath they have an option to use these body wash and soap objects and get a nice little confidence boost!

Multi-Purpose Furniture: Surface/Bookshelves
Moving beyond just giving clutter a purpose for a moment, I've decided to give some game items a second purpose. These items are all tables (end table, coffee tables, and TV stands) that can now serve as bookshelves in addition to being a surface. Basically if there is built in book clutter it's now a bookshelf.

Now stacked books can function just like bookshelves. Yes, there are already some space saving options like this, but they look so neat and organized. Some people (and sims) are messy. Now you can just have books laying around as decor and pretend to grab from the pile.

Decor with a Purpose: Clothes & Hampers as Dressers
Calling myself out here, but not everyone has their life together enough to put their clothes in dressers. So now you can have dresser functionality from various decorative clothes and hampers. The pile of clothes is perfect for slob sims and the hampers are good for lazy ones! The folded clothes are useful if you don't have a lot of space but want dresser functionality.
