I have a lot of thoughts about this chapter. Writing this chapter's script was difficult, because we see every character at their worst. Rosemary is being gullible, and is sitting in a position of confusion and hurt. We also get to see Vivianne's intentions much more clearly. Toivo gets lost to anger, and he's being pretty horrible because of it.

But I'm really excited for the chapter, and I'm also looking forward to working on the next chapter's script! Because I get to move the chara...

By this time I've pretty solidly got a specific way of working, so most pages don't see much divergence in technique when it comes to coloring. Page 7.34 is slightly unique in that I tried to pull all the flashback panels all into monochrome (except for Toivo's hair). Pages 33 and 35 also share a unique feature with the notes: I wrote those out separately (by hand, I didn't think typed text would look right) and scanned them in before adding them into the line art. I had a lot of real-life events happening the past week or so, which left me a little out of sorts. Fortunately, I think things are starting to get back into shape, so I should be catching up with comic stuff now.

I'm really excited for what's happening this upcoming chapter. :)

Nothing particularly special about these pages except the prevalence of 'glow' on the top layers. And, y'know, a massive amount of green.

Page 26 also has an unusual panel (the 5th one) where I changed the base layer colors to be grayscale rather than color to give a stronger emotional reaction.

Chapter 8.01

I'm not entirely sure how i feel about the colors on this page but I am pretty proud with the layout and page itself. I think it's a matter of tweaking things like overlays and stuff, the shadows I'm happy with! But that would be something I tackle much later, like after this particular chapter is finished and i know the colors for the rest of the pages. Right now, I'm leaving it as is. :)

The last pages of the Rosemary and Vivianne scene were honestly pretty easy to color. The scene in Toivo's office, though? A little harder. I needed the colors to give the impression of bad weather outside, but still daytime. Apparently he's also sitting in the dark, too, since there's no light on in his office. I hadn't wanted to mess with an office light, especially since I needed it to feel distinct from the Rosemary scene.

Hello! It's been a short bit. I had some art shows and home renovations come up between the chapters. Summer is looking to be busy for me, so hopefully I can get into a schedule to get the chapter drawn out fairly quickly. It's gonna be a heavy one.

If I'm remembering right, I initially planned this page to have the first panel be more straight on, rather than a view from above. I realized I used basically the same shot just a few pages before, so I ended up changing the shot on the fly. I think it's more interesting this way.

The pages of the magic world were done pretty differently than how I normally color. The original flat colors are still in the file, but how I colored this was by making everything white and adding in some digital watercolors in masked sections. That's how everything bleeds into each other.

Since the original files were made in Clip Studio, the colors are actually a tiny bit muted in the Photoshop files. Unfortunately, Photoshop has better image compression, so I always use the photosho...

Once again, I've fallen behind on the PSDs. I tend to get excited for the latest pages, and then forget them completely once I post them online.

I think these pages I was trying to make the archive feel... Like... artificial, but warm? Like a library, basically. Serule, on the other hand, was kind of difficult to make sickly. They've been progressively getting grayer every chapter, but this one I needed to make it much more obvious.

Chapter 7.40-41

I don't know if it's easier to read it all in one chunk or to provide them as separate pages, so... I did both here.

This was a big page to complete. Mostly it was a lot of backgrounds and figuring out how to lay the page out, but it took a while to finish. Adding in the magic glow parts was pretty fun at the end though, you can be a little bit experimental with them.
