Calico Cat coloured pencil

So I wanted to make something traditional as too much digital makes me depressed.
Routine is good, too much routine and it will feel like creativity is being drained so breaking it up with some traditional is good.

I sketched this digitally, made a mock up, transferred it to canson illustration board and layer a basic watercolour wash in the background and figure.

March Monthly Sketch

This was done for Khaos Silva of the character Carenza.
Snow Leopards are not that common for me to draw.

Coyote and Sage

I drew this in my Stillman and Brim Zeta 8X10 sketchbook as drawing on a screen was burning my eyes really badly. I thought maybe this paper can take coloured pencil.
Answer is not well, I couldn't layer much so lesson learned.
It still looks okay but I couldn't get the depth I could have if on the proper paper but I like the inked lines on it.

Updates

So last weekend I thought I was having a ear infection but the next day my eye swelled up and I could not see well. I went the ER and got told I have shingles on the left side of my face.
It is extremely painful, it feels like I'm having a migraine all the time and was hit really hard in the face.

I'm on immune suppressants for crohns disease and despite I got the shingles vaccine it didn't prevent it. I understand I am a funky case.

Discord channel

So I said to myself I would start using discord, if you can't tell I'm not the greatest at talking online BUT I want to use it especially for Synthetic Instinct.

I get emailed and Pm'ed questions a lot so I wanted to create a discussion area for it.

I set it up with different permissions to each tier, I will post Patreon content in the Patreon only section.
Only thing that will be different is Bronze tier ($5) and up will have access to WIPs that I don't want to clog up my P...

Rex Design

So I'll be slowly(very slowly) remaking a lot of refs for this comic so I can use the art on the wiki I'm going to slowly build. Plus good chunk of Issue 2 is his show so I wanted to cement some of my design shifts.

Rex was the worst offender of my designs shifting around as I do not believe in being married to a bad idea, you'll find better ways to draw your characters so let them grow.

January Monthly Sketch

Done for C.F. Becker for their character Percher Cheval a Napoleonic infantrymen I have drawn many times and always will enjoy when I get a chance too.

Isa & Rex

I needed new promo art that isn't like 2 years old.
Has yet to be shown but Isa loves trashy novels of many genres as she is more a 'I read about friendships than actually having many friends'

I attached a bloodless version, as my husbean thought the artwork was cute and I got to ruin it by reminding people Rex is a murder refrigerator.

Jackal coloured pencil

This took me 3 nights to finish, didn't take me long at all.
Scan seems to have flushed out the yellows in the body, no idea why, will adjust further for printing but I'm happy enough with the scan.

So I sketched it out, then put in the cloud in white charcoal and blended it as that can give the cloud effect.
I'm happy with the details in the paws, normally my sketches look great for paws and then they get muddled when painting. I guess the bonus of pencils is precision.

Lynx coloured pencil

I don't think I've drawn a regular Eurasian Lynx before. I thought their coat was perfect for the Derwent drawing pencils set.
Again I did this in the evenings after I was done digital work so I'm not sure how long it took me, the original is 11X14 so it's larger than what I normally work on but the drawing pencils are chonky boys so larger is easier while learning. I used a lot more lightfast pencils in this.
