I think this character is fasinating he's a snow leopard/clouded leopard hybrid. That's cool!
I want to draw more spotted cats!

I keep meaning to write more on here, it's hard for me because I don't feel it would be interesting but hey you're here for my art and cons are related to my art.
We arrived late Wednesday, no issue with TSA or US customs it was pretty stress free. Even got our seats together on the plane as my fiance has a PR card and is not a Canadian national so often we can't check into flights because they need to verify his PR card in person.
So despite booking together airlines break us apart...
Remember to update or submit to the character pool, it is editable (if not contact me) so you can change what you have submitted at any time.
I'll be doing another 9X12 marker and coloured pencil piece.

So FC art show is right around the corner.
My local art store LONG LAST restocked cradled wood panels again in December so I restocked on various sizes, then sealed and gessoed them all.
I really enjoy painting 3X4 size because it forces me to think out the shape of an animal rather than the details.
Last year at FC I sold 4 3X4 of a spotted hyena, cryptic Siamese Cat, leopard and a Eurasian lynx.
This year I will have a bleb black cat, cougar, coyote and African wild dog. The...
My friend INKtiger https://www.patreon.com/INKtiger
and I did a collab for FC art show with her drawing/inks and my colours in alcohol marker and coloured pencil.
Fun using super bright saturated colours I don't often use in my own work.
I attached WIP photos.
01 first layer of markers
02 second layers keep a focus on the base coat colours gradients.
03 spots added and marker colours of the spots.
I made a telegram announcement group for my art as I realize I post completely randomly.

I will just link to anything I post online such as patreon updates, commission openings, original art for sale, etc.
So I was approached to make a banner for the EF stage this year. I did this in watercolour and gouache then disassembled it digitally for them to be able to move elements as I wasn't made aware of the final size needed.
End results was far more cropped but was neat to see my art printed that large even just for a glimpse.
I sold the original at EF art show.
I attached the photo of the banner and the framed art show piece.
Oct/Nov reward was Kuroro character that I have had the pleasure of being able to illustrate before but this is the first time I did in markers/coloured pencil on 9X12 bristol board.
In Germany last summer I picked up a tin of faber castell polychromos pencils and a few loose ones as I always wanted to play with more mixed media work and use mineral spirits with them.
This was really fun to make, I think next reward will be Marker/Pencil again as I would like to do this a...
This was a commission that took far too long. I admit there are elements I would do differently now but over all I'm happy with it, so is the customer.
It's steampunk wild west, I always think of the movie and TV show wild wild west, steampunk before steampunk was a popular thing. :P
I've been actually really experimenting with digital art as I have never been happy with my end results until lately. It takes longer than I would like but isn't that the frustration of all art is quality ...
Originally I wanted to make a winter themed image but idea of rocks/moss/grass texture kind of won me over to play in markers with. I use to use copics all the time but moved away from it aside from grey scale sketching.
So last month or so I've been trying to power through an art block. No I'm not shutting down or anything it's more an over all dissatisfaction with my quality. It happens maybe once or twice a year, often brought on by stress or just my over all craving something I lack.
Reality is I'm not an artist that retains knowledge or skill.
I'm kind of envious of other artists that seem to retain these.. I just don't.
It's also hard to make time for art that is intended for skill sharping a...
This was a 12X16 watercolour commission. I have a shape shifting species based on mythological cait sith and a customer wanted his own cait sith in an art deco styled room.
Going to be honest art deco and I do not see eye to eye so it was outside my comfort zone.
I finished this last summer, I had to rush getting a scan so I'm not thrilled with it so I doubt I'll post it anywhere else.
I don't take 12X16 size commissions much if any anymore. I find I'm just not fast enough es...
I have a concept I've been fleshing out and writing that deals with this character concept.
I image his cloak to often look the edges of it look wet paint that when spell casting can more look like watercolour with a lot of water added to it.
I'm toying with making a short black and white comic series with this, it all takes place in a steampunk like setting just deals with paranormal and magic as he is a cursed magician after all. I'll be making more sketches relating to this as I re...
I find cougars very difficult as their colouration isn't simple it's subtle ticking. I'm not thrilled how the gouache turned out as I envisioned it more red, I probably should have layed more burnt sienna in the base/middle layer.
I was thinking of uploading a step by step how I paint in gouache on here.
King Cheetah was suggested by the patreon Alchemy when I asked for suggestions for the Felidae sketch book.
I actually am happy with the gouache study of the king cheetah. It's enough detail and gradients. How I paint you take the longest on your middle to dark layer otherwise you'll end up fighting it in later stages attempting to get depth or correct colours.
So a page of Sphynxes as per request from the patreon Milo Braun
So I like my inked sketches on the left, I was not crazy with the watercolour sphynx on the right. I will attempt sphynxes again as with the exception of Siamese they are one of my favourite cat breeds. Got to love the high energy breeds :P
Word prompt was chicken... little late because I didn't feel well most of today...
So I drew the insufferable rooster from Katzbalger, that 16th century comic I slowly work on.... I'll post more on that, I have work I'm slowly compiling together.
Ink and watercolour on hot press paper.
Word prompt of spell.
Waaay back I had a character in a Palladium RPG called Heroes Unlimited, it's like a table top RPG for super heroes it was quite fun, played that more than D&D.
He was a stage magician that did real magic, often of the dark kind.
I'd love to write him and build something more serious for him and an actual origin rather than being a kind of blank slate so I can fit him into any propose game a GM comes up with.
Done in PS CC with the inktober b...
So it's digital again with the same brushes but I used a watercolour smudger.
See I thought todays prompt was burned it's actually roasted.. So yah, whoops..
I really like the idea of elemental animals but the element exits the body through their colourations so in this case a maine coon cats stripes.
Fire is also something I struggle with, least this turned out more successful than previous attempts.
I want to say no I won't draw another cat but I know myself.. I prob...
So this is digital as it's official backpedaling from my understanding that they allow inktober to be digital. Honestly I see no difference between traditional and digital as I mellow out with traditional work and digital stresses me out(aside from digital sketching)
I used the brushes kyle webster made for inktober on this and the drawing prompt is tranquil.
Really this will probably be catober for me as default I draw regular cats.
I know these are also publicly posted at a...
This wasn't planned but seeing it on social media made me go 'damn it I want to play in ink today' but the drawing prompt of today didn't interest me.
I doubt I can complete the inktober obligations as I have other obligations BUUUT when I have time it will be nice as I want to fill up the last of this sketchbook. Which is a Strathmore 5.5X8 visual journal which if you need an affordable wet media book this is nice it can handle a lot of abuse.
I did this ink Black, white and me...
This was the bi-monthly reward of a 5X5 Masonite panel painted in acrylics and gold leafed.
This is of Tamahagane ShipsCat's character Khongordzal, I've drawn her in the past and was happy to be able to do so again.
I'm super happy how this turned out. It's very shiny in person and the leaf took to the Masonite very nicely.
I will do this in the future again as this was fun and a challenge for me as it pushes me out of my routines of drawing certain animals.
So thank you for the suggestions.

More black footed cats, the gouache study I did very quickly and wanted to play with cold colours that appear warm. It's something I really like to experiment with as my colour theory is kind of weak.
Graphite was enjoyable on the reverse side of this sketchbooks paper as mossery sketchbooks have two paper textures in them one aimed towards drawing the other for painting. Though this is the first time I've drawn on the back of painting in a sketchbook.
Even if you draw an animal all the time it's always good to do studies because you develop drawing habits that may or may not be real which is how you break said habits when you do studies.
I find modern or wedge head Siamese cats the easiest to draw because of their very defined features.
This will be painted on 5X5 wood panel, the gold in the background will be in gold leaf.
Page of black footed cats, I am fascinated with the smallest African cat but then the smaller the cat the more interested I am in them.
Which often makes it hard to see any in captivity as most people go 'oh looks like a house cat'
Okay now that I am back in Canada from visiting Germany I wanted to ask study suggestions. I couldn't do that there as managing the patreon with my ipad and phone was a bit of a nightmare. I now know the patreon app is not as amazing as I thought it would be. :|
So...
Comment with a cat species you'd like to see in my felidae book, as that's a cat only sketchbook.
Also comment with an animal study you would like to see, any animal at all. :)
So this was a fun and unique painting as I got to try out phosphorus paint for the first time. So the termites glowing, the hyena and the green edges glow in the dark.
I varnished this is a gloss as I didn't know it matte varnish would effect the phosphorus glowing as well as I liked the gloss on this it really brought out the darker textures.
I really do love striped hyenas, after cats they have to be one of my favourite animals. I'm hoping on our trip to Germany I'll be able to se...
