Cult of Personality - Finally!

This song has been requested ever since this channel started, and I'm stoked to finally tackle it. It’s pretty tough to match Vernon Reid's style and feel — he really has his own thing going on, and is highly underrated. I did my best to capture that tone, which you can find on my Patreon page via an Amplitube patch.

The fingering positions for the main riff are accurate, though he might jump around a bit more with his fingering. I opted for a barred index finger approach. I also u...

To Be With You

This song brings back a lot of camp fire memories. Just make sure you're prepared for the solo! This one is mostly basic chords, except for that tricky C# minor on the fourth fret.

It's a great singalong song. I gave the vocals a try myself, but this is a real tough one, so I decided to give Audimee a shot. After uploading my track and listening back, I was absolutely blown away by the results. I reached out to these guys and showed them my results, and they decided to sponsor my vide...

Can you guess the 3 upcoming songs we're covering?

Some new additions to the Mr Tab guitar collection, and the attire tickle trunk. Any guesses on what videos they'll be used in? The first guitar here will be used in Thursday's video.

(also, do anyone outside of Canada know what a tickle trunk is?)

Jake E Lee is underated

Jason absolutely nailed this one. Here are his notes:

I love all of Ozzy’s guitarists through the years. I truly can’t pick a favorite it. I can say for sure that I believe Jake had the biggest arsenal of tricks up his sleeve. Watch the “Ultimate Ozzy” tour from 1986 and you’ll see what I mean. Tapped double stops, thumb on the fretboard so you can get mega stretches, tapped octave notes… so many cool tricks that I haven’t really seen anyone else do. It’s too...

Finally tabbed out all of Appetite

Finally, we have a full Appetite for Destruction playlist! LINK

I also plan to cover all of Izzy’s parts at some point and get them out there for you all. Some more notes on this video:

TALK BOX
For this cover, I used an MXR talk box and recorded straight through my audio box. I ran the line out from the isolated track of what I recorded into the talk box...

Always On The Run - Slash & Lenny Kravitz

Always wanted to do this one. It has a great groove, and some funky riffs. It's a blast to jam along with. Slash plays the same riffs in the verses with some slight variations. In the solo, I went note-for-note with the studio version, but live versions I've seen, he improvises. Thanks for Lenny Kravitz for letting me record this @ The Kent's Sound Lounge in NYC. I thought it'd make a good background View Post

It's a Long Way to The Top - If You Want to Rock N Roll

Jason nailed this one, and rocked some great wardrobe changes!

Here's some quick notes from him:

This is a fun song that was brought into the spotlight and popularized by a movie that I’m sure we’ve all watched. There were no live performance videos (other than the music video and a performance where they seem to be playing over the studio track) so I went by these for positioning. I love how the hard driving riffs in this one. I tried to play a real bagpipe but ...

You're Crazy - Just 1 video away from the full Appetite for Destruction tab playlist

Just one more song left to cover (Anything Goes), and we'll have a full Appetite playlist!

In the studio recording, there are some subtle bends, so I added them before the first measure, along with the G5 and G#5 chords. But if you prefer to keep it simple, sticking to just the power chords works too!

For this tab, I used an isolated track to capture Slash’s rhythm and lead parts. I’m not trying to overshadow Izzy’s rhythms — I think they’re just as crucial — but some...

Pour Some Sugar On Me 🎉

I tried to be as faithful to Phil Collen's playing as I could while still wearing a shirt. Steve Clark’s playing is great on this one as well.

What other 80s rock/metal from this era would you like to see covered?

Finally - Crazy Train Remake

It's been five years since I posted my first take on this. A lot has changed since then, and I’m excited to share this new and improved version. I picked up a Fernandez to dive back into some Randy classics, and it does not disappoint! Taking some inspiration from Randy's live performances, I added some extra guitar work to the intro to make it a little more fun to play along with.

A few notes on the tab: - The rhythm is double tracked and the solo is triple tracked to get as clo...

The Unforgiven - Metallica

First upload of the new year! Hope everyone had a great holiday break.

Jason did a great job on this one. Here are some of his notes:

Everyone thinks of heavy riffs and fast down picking when they hear of James Hetfield. This song highlights what a great acoustic player he is.

I tried to match the fingerings he uses from live videos. Lately he uses a pick but I believe the recording is finger style. Either or would work fine.

The solo isn’t overly d...

Alice in Chains - Man in the Box

Hope everyone is having a great holiday break! Here's a lesson video that fell off the radar in December. New content will be coming this week (Metallica - The Unforgiven!) Thank you again for all of the support.

Man in the Box

Absolutely iconic riffs. The early AIC songs were so ahead of their time. Can't believe this was released in 1990. There is a tutorial on Youtube where Jerry himself plays this, so that was great to reference to get the rhythm d...

Rock instrumental - All I Want For Christmas

For this year's addition to the Christmas tab playlist, I decided to create a rock instrumental version of "All I want for Christmas is You"! My goal was to reimagine the vocals melodies on lead guitar, and just add a rock twist to the whole song overall.

LEADS
I did my best to capture the nuance of the vocal inflections. Although, I may have taken some cr...

Led Zeppelin - Immigrant Song

No solo, but a super fun song to play along with.

Such an awesome riff. I tried to find some decent live footage but the only thing I could find was a performance that looked like it was taken by the same guys who videotaped Bigfoot. Definitely not helpful! The recording itself is a little murky, like many recording of that time so I put my ears to work for this one.

Note: the final chord should be a GM, not a C9 - the C is actually played on the bass. Still sounds good - play ...

Far Beyond the Sun - Now Patreon-Exclusive

Since someone from Yngwie's side decided to take down my Youtube video, I'm uploading it here for Patrons only.

You may have seen my update on Youtube - Yngwie Malmsteen or his copyright holders made the call to take video down, and now my channel has a copyright strike. I’m really bummed about it because I worked very hard on that video, and I love sharing content that helps you all out. It’s a shame when things like this happen.

So, I'm re-uploading here for Patrons onl...

Smooth !

A jam from 1999. You don't hear lead licks like that on the radio anymore.

Even though the original track doesn’t have any, I incorporated some rhythm guitar into this piece. I felt it made the song more interesting to fill out the sections where no guitar is being played, especially for playing along. For anyone wanting to adapt this song to solo rhythm guitar, the chords are labeled above the tab for your convenience.

According to the live clips I referenced, Carlos plays t...

"Hello Me, It's Me Again"

Another heavily requested Megadeth Tab. They were cranking out amazing songs at this time, and the leads from both Marty and Dave are awesome on this one.

I envy people like Dave who can play tongue twister riffs and sing at the same time. I don't know anyone else that does it like he does.

This one is packed with great licks - especially the groove in the chorus riff. Countdown to Extinction was just a killer record.

The solo is amazing and is definitely learnable for an ...

Finally - Yngwie - Far Beyond the Sun

Here it is!

FINGER POSITIONS

Just a heads up — Yngwie plays this in many different ways during live shows, so there might be some variations. I did my best to capture the finger positioning accurately, going by some live performance videos and by listening to studio version.

PICKING SPEED

While I’m more comfortable with legato-style playing than at intense speeds like Yngwie, I wanted to tackle this request because h...

Opus Pocus 🔥!

Not sure where to start about this one. Blows my mind how Jason Becker wrote this when he was so young. The atonal section... that took a while to learn. With no performance videos to go by, I chose the fingering that seemed most logical to me. There is so much personality shining through in every note - even the ones that are flying by at a million miles an hour. I tried to capture it as much as I could! The arpeggio section is a monster. So fast.

The Kiesel is an awesome guitar whi...

Alice Cooper - Feed My Frankenstein

Don’t let the music video fool you, these guitar solos are classic Vai and Satch at their best. Satriani really lays down some huge tasty bends in this one and Vai is... Vai - cool whammy bar stuff and his signature way of phrasing things.

New lesson bundle: Interstate Love Song !

Thank you for your requests for this song! I’m sharing it not only because it’s a classic from the 90s, but also because I personally struggled to figure out the chords when I was developing my ear for music. So for anyone else in the same boat, this tab is for you! I’m confident that all the positions in this tab are accurate. I listened to the isolated guitar track for this song, and the only differences between my tab and how DeLeo plays it live are:

Castlevania 2: Simon’s Quest Medley - NES

In the spirit of the season we doubled down on the spookiness.
Jason absolutely nails this one! Here are some of his notes:

I think NES music has influenced me as much as any guitarist and Kenichi Matsubara made probably my favourite video game soundtrack on the infamous Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest. There are some cool covers of some of these tunes on YouTube but I wanted this version to be stripped down and as close to the 8 bit version as possible so you can r...

Patreon-only sneak peek of "Far Beyond the Sun" (Yngwie Malmsteen) - work in progress

Hi Patrons,

This is Matt, I help Patrick here on the channel.

For a while now, Patrick has been working on Yngwie Malmsteen’s tune “Far Beyond the Sun” (1984), a highly requested song. If you’re familiar with Malmsteen, you’ll know this is a very challenging piece to play! I asked Patrick how it compares to other difficult songs like "Cliffs of Dover," and he said it’s definitely the hardest one he’s tackled so far.

So this is no simple task. He's taken it on a...
