I said we'd go in story order, not creation order. This is the last commission piece, beginning the story. (By this time, the written part was ready for sure). We didn't color this one, but I think it would be the opening to the story, establishing what the coyote does with his time. The chapters begin at the next finished illustration.

When you do a character line up, it's important to do color swatches and compare. The final choice is the little image above. Yes, Mace started with black eyes. We changed it because it's hard to tell what he's looking at in comic form. Don't worry, he probably pick it up here and there in a future book or something....
