A photo of the final Namah keychain.  We were so happy with these, we're definitely going to make more with other characters in the future.

I'm really excited with how these closing scenes of Volume 5 align, and start to establish some of the conflict the story s barreling towards.  We have a lot of fun planned.

Sunday Art-ifact: Namah Development

This is a montage of Namah moments.  The vista with moon became an image and desktop for the first Prelude Collection.  The Namah on the ceiling was used as a joke during a character line up study.

Ezio color blocked the Namah's here for us.

The rest, the 'dance' was inspired by a Calvin and Hobbes dance collection and was intended to be used for a video.  It was ultimately scrapped.  There are many more images of Namah that we intend to show in our conc...

Saturday Art-ifact: Namah Development

Namah was a natural character to appear in Prelude.  In the art above, her wardrobe changes were planned.  The picture on the left is from an anti-Valentine that featured Namah.  Her image on the right was used as a website image.

This is a turnaround design for a Namah figurine we cast for a kickstarter campaign.  She was cast in four parts and had to be painted and assembled.

The left image is from a destroyed sketchbook in 2004/5, and the pictures on the right are stickers from 2007.  Color assistance by Ezio on the Namah's to the right!

Wednesday Art-ifact: Namah Development

Namah's colors were finalized quickly.  The picture on the right was used in our first poster, the image on the left was used as a sticker and a color swatch.  The Namah in the middle is a keyframe from an animated walkcycle.

Tuesday Art-ifact: Namah Development

Namah's colors were chosen with Lilith by her side.  Green would have been a natural reptilian choice, but pinks and purples gave her a natural feminine look that would contradict her lean physic and short hair.  Color blocking on this page by the fabulous Ezio.  My point with the color on these pages is to show line art on some of the less common art pieces, color on the others.

Omnibus Back Cover pencils

The Omnibus shall be sheathed in glorious art!

Even the back cover must be magnificent.  The pencils here are one layer- I like how they pop in the raw scan here, but for the final piece, we'll be pushing these back to become a subtle layer accented with spot UV print effects, with some stark colors serving as the focal points.

I'm tempted to color this in with our normal style at some point, to create a new poster or wallscroll design- but later.  First, we'll be comple...

Monday Art-ifact: Namah Development

Namah, originally spelled as 'Naamah', was Lilith's sister in mythology and became so in our story.  Although Lilith was supposed to be a possessed demon, our Namah is closer to the real thing.  Early designs show her as a winged dragon or serpent girl.

Sunday Art-ifact: Vanth Development

Vanth as a child is a sticker on the left, and drawings intended for a resin sculpture are on the right.  Her translucent blue wings would have been a lovely feature with some dye.

We were able to solve her sweater and pants challenges with a ring loop on key parts of the clothing.  Besides a unique style, she's able to (in theory) switch outfits herself.  There are more pages of Vanth art, but we are switching to Namah next week.

Prelude 475

Namah grapples with existential ennui in the least tactful way possible. Face-flipping off an armored guard is one thing, but how does a kid confront quiet dilemmas?

Some intense pencils distracting me yesterday- will probably share some samples of those soon, but for today, enjoy the latest Prelude update.

Saturday Art-ifact: Vanth Development

Vanth was ready for a color swatch, a dirty air ryuu-neko that is better explained in a future Prelude, and a cute but challenging childhood.  She is the middle ground between Mace's orphan story and Lilith's privilaged upbringing.  The upper right image is the color swatch art.

Friday Art-ifact: Vanth Development

Vanth, as she was now called, became a mysterious and possibly malnourished gang member in the dreamkeeper universe.  She was the first of our characters to have roots in Prelude before the graphic novel story.  The concept on the left helped the graphite rendering on the right that went to a reader during a campaign.

More work went into Vanth's design at the coffee shop, considering earrings, ear and eye designs, how her fingers and wings were constructed.

Art Project of Long Ago: Customized Treat Jars

Liz:  I love customizing things with paint.  These were solid glazed jars with the word 'treats' and I though it would be fun to make them special.

We lost the original gator one I made in the fire, so I decided to remake it along with a bunny treat jar for a friend.  (Who's bunny was black with white) and took some production photos, as seen above.  Obviously, the treat jar was well received by the recipient, I'm not sure if the bunny liked her's.
