1830s wedding/ball gown

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!

Here's a little unexpected (even for me ^^) festive gift for you all :). I looked at the inspo photo and suddenly felt like that dress could be very easily done if I altered my 1830 mourning dress here and there - and I was right! From funerals through balls to weddings, your 1830s sims shall be prepared for all the most important life events now.

Comes in 25 swatches:

  • polycount: ca. 5K
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible (pictures taken with the mod)
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, some shine
  • tagged as everyday, formal and party
  • found under long dress subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • I baked the textures in Blender again (might really stick to it for good, I love the results...), so there's no PDN file. Instead I baked and uploaded a pure white swatch which should be helpful if you want to recolour the dress. The pattern is not included!

I haven't noticed any problems (would be weird, that's almost the same dress as the old one...), but if you spot anything, please let me know!

Hopefully you'll have some fun with these. Enjoy :)

1850's 'Maggie' skirt recoloured in Sokea's plaids

Hi everyone!

Every time after publishing something I think 'ok, that's enough Sims for this month', and yet I can't stop making new stuff ^^.

It's a simple recolour of my yesterday's Maggie skirt. As mentioned, the skirt should be recolours-friendly, but that applies rather to floral than geometrical patterns - so I thought it wouldn't hurt if I made some new swatches directly in Blender. I might switch to Blender baking for good, it looks so much better than whatever I could create in paint.net!

The skirt is a standalone package (= doesn't require the basic version, mesh is included) and comes in 23 swatches, all in Plaid Pattern Pack by Sokea:

For detailed properties check the og 'Maggie skirt' post - no changes were made.

I very highly advise you to use this skirt together with the HQ mod (hopefully we'll get the skintones update soon!) - without it the patterns look very blurry! I'm sorry, it's just that the skirt is huge, and the space for textures - rather small. Luckily with the mod it looks crispy enough.

Let me know if you notice any problems (it's the first time I made a recolour, so I'm a bit scared I did something wrong...) - and hopefully have fun with these!

1850s 'Maggie' skirt

Happy belated birthday @simstomaggie!!!

So! I know I said I probably won't make any 1850s/1860s pieces, but yesterday I learned that my friend and fellow simmer Maggie just had her birthday, so I spontaneously decided to finally make her a mid-Victorian skirt for which she'd been asking me for ages. As expected, it was a bit of a nightmare as nothing wanted to work properly (even textures, are you kidding me?!), but eventually I won :P. I went only for 1850s this time, so it's still not as huge as crinoline skirts from 1860s, but I hope it'll still be useful! I tried really hard to make it big enough. And as for 1860s... Maybe next time? It should be just a matter of scaling the mesh a bit...

Comes in 24 swatches, all inspired by real 1850s fashion plates:

  • polycount: ca. 5,5K
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible (pictures taken with the mod)
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, some shine
  • tagged as everyday, formal, party, hot and cold weather
  • found under skirts subcategory (duh)
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • no texture file this time, as my usual way of making swatches in paint.net didn't work, so I baked them all directly in blender. You can try to use the white swatch for recolours - maybe with Gimp or Photoshop you'll get better results! The mesh is unwrapped in a pattern-friendly way - i.e. I checked, they will look good :)

It should go without saying, but in case you wonder: the skirt bends in all the right places and your sims can sit down in it.

The weights at the back are not as 100% ideal as I wish they were, but I think it still looks good enough to turn a blind eye on that little imperfection. Stupid TS4 with its 4 bones limit, I need 5 to make it smooth! Two calves, two thighs AND pelvis!

I hope you'll like it (especially you Maggie!), enjoy!

Info for CC creators

I made this skirt hoping that it could become a base for many mid-Victorian outfits (my tou is: 'take it and make something pretty out of it' ;)). However, please be aware that if you use it as a base (I don't mean recolours, those won't be affected), you'll run into some problems with rig slots (i.e. hands hanging high in the air while sitting). You'll need to read my short tutorial on fixing arms' position (HERE) and then put the following numbers into OffsetFromIntersectionOs: -0.1,-0.1,0 for b__L_ThighFrontTarget_slot and -0.0006073937,-0.1,-0.1 for b__R_ThighFrontTarget_slot. That way you should get the same result as I did:

Just make sure you put the numbers in right places - and for all the LODs!

Victorian robes for teeny tots

Hi everyone!

This outfit was supposed to be a baby. Yep, you read that correctly. The queen of medieval conversions @simverses once figured out how one could replace the in-game baby mesh with a new one and asked me if I could make some clothes for it. And so I did - but when our Victorian baby was about to be shared, Nifty Knitting happened and completely changed the way the game handles babies. I recalled those old meshes yesterday and thought... It doesn't look like we're getting a baby update any time soon, but maybe I could at least convert those pieces for toddlers? And it worked!

Why the whole backstory? For two reasons. Firstly, to warn you that those pieces look a bit different than my usual cc (i.e. less detailed), as they were intended for a creature the size of a big pumpkin. They were supposed to be pretty, but simple and low poly. I still find them cute though, and I hope so will you!

And secondly, if you care about historical accuracy please remember that those dresses/robes were intended for really, really, really tiny people. Like, the small toddler preset tiny. The girls modelling both dresses in the preview are in fact too old for them. Unless you decide it's not lingerie but summer dresses - then it should work! Maybe it's good I didn't add too many details after all ;).

Both versions come in 10 swatches, mostly very pale:

  • polycounts: ca. 4K
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible (pictures taken with the mod - not that it makes any difference in this case)
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnails, bump and specular maps, some shine
  • tagged as everyday and sleepwear
  • found under long or short dresses and lingerie subcategories
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • unisex
  • PDN and PSD for recolours included - you don’t need them for the meshes to work

Hope your teeny tots will like them, enjoy!

PS. I forgot to add: the design comes from 1899, but ofc should be pretty universal - not much was happening in Victorian baby fashion ^^

4000+ followers gift: 1890s wedding gowns

Hello everyone, I'm finally back! Well, sort of.

Today I bring you something special: two 1890s wedding gowns, based on designs from, respectively, 1890 and 1894. Originally it was supposed to be a set of three dresses, but with everything going on in my life right now I can't see myself finishing dress no. 3 in any foreseeable future - and I really wanted this gift to be out this month/year, so I decided to release at least the two gowns which are ready. It got so late that now you can treat it not only as a followers' gift (I reached 4000 followers on tumblr last month, thank you everyone so much for all the love!), but also as a gift for Christmas, Hanukkah, Midwinter or whatever it is that you celebrate. Hope you'll like them!

(Dress no. 3 (1899 design) should follow next year, when I finally find some time and motivation to work on it. It's kind of ironic that it's the only of the 3 dresses that I need for my own game, and also the simplest one, and yet I can't make myself finish it... Hopefully the meshing drive will be back soon).

Both dresses come in 3 white swatches: creme, pure white and ecru:

  • polycounts: 1890: 13K, 1894: 9K
  • Base Game compatible
  • some details use transparency - won’t work properly in laptop mode
  • HQ mod compatible (pictures taken with the mod, I still haven't updated the game)
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnails, bump and specular maps, some shine
  • tagged as everyday, formal and situation
  • found under long dresses subcategory
  • colour tagged (I mean... as white)
  • disallowed for random
  • PDNs for recolours included - you don’t need them for the meshes to work. Let me know if you’d rather have the PSD files!

Some info on the trains:

It looks like there are two ways in which a train can behave: either you assign it to calves, thanks to which it behaves perfectly while sitting, but jumps stiffly up and down while walking, or you assign it to pelvis, which makes it lie on the floor while walking, but disappear underground while sitting. I decided to go for the second option, as I think trailing behind and looking all beautiful is the point of a train - right? But that means it won't be fully visible while sitting. I'm sorry, the game just comes with some limitations. If anyone knows a way around it, please share your wisdom with me :)

Here are some in-game pictures:

Enjoy!

PS. Veils used by Lena Sims, slightly edited by yours truly.

(Not so) short announcement

Hello everyone,

I've been sharing some news regarding my health and its influence on all my TS4-related activities on tumblr in the past weeks, but I completely forgot that some of you might be following me only here and that info might not reach you unless I write a post on patreon as well. So sorry! If that really was the case, here's a short explanation of why I suddenly turned silent - and a little overview of what you can expect in the future:

I've been fighting with some problems with my right eye since a good month ago. It started as a small inconvenience, seemed to have gone away, only to come back with a triple force soon afterwards. I've been to two doctors and they both diagnosed it as some mechanical injury of the cornea. Good news is, it's nothing dangerous or permanent: it might take some time, but in the end the eye will heal. Bad news is, in some cases it can take really long, and the process can be extremely painful - as I've experienced a week or two ago.

Right now I feel completely fine (actually, today is the first day when I don't even feel anything rubbing against my eyelid or anything, the right eye feels just like the left one - basically, I can forget that it exists and it's splendid!). However - especially because I already thought I'm almost fine once and it only got worse afterwards - I'm still very cautious. I'm trying to find some healthy balance between going back to my usual lifestyle and not overstraining the eyes. To be honest, I don't think I'll ever fully go back to it. I was spending way too much time in front of the screen in the past year, which wasn't good either for my health or my other hobbies. In a way I really enjoyed the past week, which I spent almost fully without computer or phone - I was bored and impatient at times, but the days got so long all of a sudden, and I could do so many other things in that time!

So, now that you know why I stopped releasing anything new, let's talk about the future a little bit:

1) Even though I feel fine, I think it wouldn't be smart for me to go back to meshing already. Out of all computer-related activities, meshing is the most eye-tiring thing I can think of, and I don't want to risk it. I decided to give myself a break till the end of this week, and maybe go back to it next week - only if the eye still feels ok, of course.

2) That being said, I'd like to release a little followers' gift soon, ideally still in November. I've planned a set for this occasion (4000+ followers!) and even managed to finish 2 out of 3 pieces before my eye turned into a total mess. It's a cool thing, 1890s themed, badly lacking right now, so I hope you won't be disappointed once I finally publish it!

3) It's always hard for me to foresee what I'm going to do in the future, but I think after the followers' gift my cc producing speed will decrease. I feel like I've been working constantly on one piece or another in the past months, especially since the end of September: the whole German collection, 2 1840s dresses, 2 Simblreen gifts, right afterwards the followers' gift... It's been a lot. Don't get me wrong, I really like meshing and creating new stuff, and usually I completely forget about such mundane things as time when working on something - but that's exactly the problem. I want to stop dedicating every free minute to meshing and regain some balance in my life. So, I'd say from now on you may count, on average, with 1 or 2 cc pieces per month, not more. I'm sorry, but you know. Living is kinda important too ;).

4) Just one more thing which might influence the amount of time I dedicate to meshing: my job. I'm a freelancer, a computer screen (and proper vision) is a necessary part of my work - so, as you can probably guess, this month I've earned a big fat null so far. I'm not starving yet, don't worry, but in case any new offers arrive, I intend to accept each and every single one of them, to repair my budget at least a bit. I must confess giving job offers a priority over meshing wasn't always the case (especially if the offer looked deadly boring XD), but now it will be, no second thoughts. Savings are nice, but they tend to disappear if you don't reinforce them, and I don't intend to let that happen.

This was supposed to be a short announcement and turned into an essay :/ Obviously. I don't think anyone is surprised. I think I managed to cover everything important though, so... that's good I guess?

Stay awesome everyone and don't stare at your screens for too long ;)

1830 mourning dress (Simblreen 2020 treat #2)

Hi everyone!

Here comes my second Simblreen treat and at the same time my first 1830s creation: an 1830 mourning dress. Yes, I know that the inspo picture clearly calls it a ‘walking dress‘, but the one I found especially for mourning looks almost exactly the same - and I decided to make this one just because I found it prettier... And less troublesome. I’m super glad that after all I managed to finish it on time!

Comes in 5 mourning or half-mourning swatches and one white-red one. The black swatches come with a little bonus: a sim wearing them will get a +1 sad buff! Recolours are highly welcome, but if you want to make it into a normal, happy dress, use the last (white-red) swatch as your clone - that’s the only one without the special tuning.

  • polycount: ca. 7K
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible (pictures taken with the mod)
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, no shine
  • tagged as everyday and party
  • found under long dresses subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • PDN for recolours included - you don’t need it for the mesh to work. Let me know if you’d rather have the PSD file!

Known problems: some clipping between the sleeves and the front deco - I guess that’s inevitable with such extreme puffs. Also, as I can’t (or don’t know how to do it) edit the custom moodlets which give your sim a sad buff, it’ll say that you’re wearing a sad panda hat. I wish I knew how to change it, but I don’t, so please just ignore it, ok?

Hope you like it, enjoy!

PS. The hairstyle used in the previews was made by Buzzard - you can find it HERE!

This piece, accidentally matching the current situation very well, comes with a special dedication to my beloved government, which I’d like to kindly ask to go PiSs itself. A week has passed since I first wrote this paragraph and, unsurprisingly, nothing changed in the meantime. Just stop guys. Just stop. Thank you.

Slavic Balvans (Simblreen 2020 treat #1)

Hello everyone!

It's finally the time to share publicly the first of my Simblreen treats.

It’s a small collection of statues of different Slavic (= pagan) deities. All of the meshes come from Sketchfab: 4 were made by a user named Iliadus and one (Veles) by 3dhdscan. I lowered the polycount to make them all TS4-friendly, to ca. 10K. It’s still not little, but the best I could do without bigger loss of quality - and as usually you would probably put just one such statue per lot, in a temple or sth, it shouldn’t slow your game down too badly.

All the statues can be found under Sculptures (duh) or simply by typing ‘VS’ in the search bar. They all come with the name of the given deity and a short description of what they were allegedly responsible for.

Please keep in mind that Slavic beliefs, in contrary to eg. Greek or Scandinavian mythology, aren’t well documented and it’s all a bit of a guessing game. Take the first statue from the left, Lada: some claim she was an important goddess of beauty, while others doubt if she ever even existed and wasn’t just made up later, as a Slavic counterpart of Aphrodite. Reconstructing stuff which was deliberately erased from people’s memory isn’t an easy task, so it’s good to take it all with a grain of salt. By no means, please don’t treat those short descriptions as a carved-in-stone truth!

You can download them all together, as a merged file, or separately. Here are their names, from the left: Lada, Triglav, Veles, Rod and Perun.

Hope you'll like it, enjoy!

PS. As those are statues of gods, they possess some special powers too. If your sims stand too close to them, they can suddenly feel overwhelmed by certain emotions...

1841 ball gown

Some time ago (two weeks? Three? Is time even real?) I received an ask if I could make an 1840s ball gown - and as I'm slowly but steadily falling in love with this decade (so little crazy deco! Such simple patterns!), I decided to really do it. Yes, it's the same skirt again, I warned you :P. Now that I see it right next to the inspo picture, I probably should've made it a bit fuller... Oh well, too late - we have to live with what we've got ;).

Comes in 26 swatches, this time only in shiny satin version:

  • polycount: ca. 10K
  • Base Game compatible
  • sleeves use transparency - won't work properly in laptop mode
  • HQ mod compatible (...although it's playing tricks on me again, so pics taken without it)
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, lots of shine on everything
  • tagged as everyday, formal and party
  • found under long dresses subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • PDN and PSD for recolours included - you don’t need them for the mesh to work

Known problems: some clipping if your sims move their arms too much, especially if they've got big breasts and lots of body fat. Also, the 'collar' gets a bit deformed while changing the breasts' size. I did what I could to get rid of both problems and I think it ended up working fairly well, but it's not perfect. If I ever learn of a way to improve it, you can rest assured - I will ;).

Hope you'll like it, despite the small imperfections. Enjoy!

Fixing arms' position (tutorial)

WARNING: This mini-tutorial is to be considered experimental. In contrary to my main tutorial series, in this case I don’t understand the bigger picture and all the connections between different options. Still, I think it’s worth writing, as when I was struggling with it myself I found close to zero information on how to solve the problem on the net - in the best case some small mentions which might have put me on the right track (and a couple which put me on a completely wrong one :P).

It’s not a part of my main tutorial series (check HERE!). This is some more advanced stuff and requires you to have already basic understanding of S4S.

***

Let’s say you made a dress. It’s all ready, uv unwrapped, weight and vertex painted and such. It looks beautiful in Blender and in S4S. You check it in game - and it looks beautiful too. Everything is perfect. That is, until you tell your sims to sit down and you notice this:

What now? You duckduck for help and read that it’s most probably caused by invisible weights, which you can’t edit. That the best solution to the problem is to re-paint the dress, ideally adding skirt bones. But what if you’ve already spent 5 hours perfecting the weights and the very thought of undoing it all makes you want to cry? Is there really no other way?

Good news coming: there is! Or at least seems to be.

To solve the hanging hands problem, you’ll need to dive a bit deeper into S4S settings.

Open your problematic package and import the mesh. That’s very important. Even if exactly the same mesh is already there: re-import it. Then go to the Warehouse tab.

Click on the Geometry of the LOD you’ve just imported and switch from ‘3D Preview’ to ‘Data’.

In the ‘Material’ section you’ll find ‘SlotRayIntersections’. Click the ‘Edit Items’ button to the right.

You’ll  see a crazily long list of different slots. As far as I understand it, they determine how different parts of your sim’s body move/behave in game. The ones we’re looking for are called b__L_ThighFrontTarget_slot and  b__R_ThighFrontTarget_slot. In my case so far they’ve always been located in the same place: 3rd from the top and 10th from the bottom -  not sure if that’s some fixed rule though.

If your slots have no names, you probably ignored me and didn’t re-import the mesh :P.  For some reason the names disappear after checking the mesh in game.

Also, best note down their position on the list, so that you wouldn’t have to re-import the mesh again and again after every check!

Look for a line called ‘OffsetFromIntersectionOs’. The 3 numbers given there determine the position of your sim’s hands while sitting and represent 3 axes: x, y and z. As we want to make the palms go down, we have to alter the last number.

I can’t tell you one ‘correct’ number which you’re supposed to put there - it all depends on the mesh you’re using. So far I’ve always used -0.1, so maybe start with this one and change it later if necessary?

Do the same for the other slot.

Save and check in game.

OK, that’s another dress, but same skirt, same problem, same solution

If you’re still not happy with how it looks, go back to S4S and further fine tune those 2 slots. Once it looks fine, repeat the same for other LODs. Watch out: as other LODs use a bit different meshes (at least I hope you’re not just re-importing LOD0 over everything! :P), it might be that different numbers will be needed. Change your sim details to medium (or lower if you want to) to be able to properly see how the palms behave when you zoom out and adjust the values as necessary.

And that’s it! Hopefully the problem got solved.

…I’d  like to say ‘let me know if you’ve got any more questions, I’ll try to help’, but the truth is, if that didn’t help, most probably I’ll have no idea what else you could do (-.-). But you can always try me!

1843 casual day dress

Hi everyone!

I found a cute design of another 1840s dress (accidentally also from 1843) and thought it looks so simple that it should be easy to squeeze it somewhere in between other projects. Some fighting was needed after all, so it wasn't as much of a 'small side project' as I had anticipated, but anyway - it's done. This time with all levels of detail properly checked from the start ;).

(Yes, that's the same skirt, and why not? It's a pretty good skirt :P. If I make any more 1840s pieces, I bet I'll keep reusing it over and over again - fighting with weights on such huge skirts is too much for my sanity).

Comes in 31 swatches, some most probably terribly not-era-appropriate:

  • polycount: ca. 9,5K
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible (pictures taken with the mod)
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, no shine
  • tagged as everyday, party and warm weather
  • found under long dresses subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • PDN and PSD for recolours included

Hope you'll find some use for it in your games, enjoy! And ofc let me know if you notice any problems.

Red Slavic Wooden Beads revamped

Good evening everyone!

Here comes a remade version of the Slavic red beads which I originally published over a year ago. I adjusted the placement of the beads, so that they wouldn't clip with my Cuiavian winter outfit anymore, properly weight painted the 'Triple' and 'Lush' versions (I didn't like it moving stiffly with the neck, as it did till now) and changed the texture to something less shiny and saturated. In my opinion it's a big improvement, but I decided not to delete / replace the old version, in case some of you prefer it to the new one. You can find the old post HERE.

  • polycounts: simple: ca. 2K; triple: ca. 10K; lush: ca. 24K (!high poly!)
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible
  • comes in 3 shades of red, ofc feel free to recolour
  • tagged as casual, formal, party, hot and cold weather
  • works for almost all body types - only very big and very pushed-up breasts clip

Watch out: the filenames have changed! If you want to use those, delete the old beads from your mods folder and put those in instead. They're still the same packages, so I think your game should still recognise them as the same items (...I hope?).

Hope you'll like them, enjoy!

HUGE cc update

Hello everyone!

As mentioned a couple of days ago, I bulk-updated my cc for adult female sims. I mean everything you can see when you go to my downloads page and choose ‘adult female’ on the left. Yes, everything. Hats and accessories too. I added update notes to all the pieces, so you can check for each of them individually what has been changed. Here’s a general overview:

ALL the pieces were updated with a new display index number, which affects their position in CAS. The updated ones should all appear next to each other, in chronological order (+ folk stuff + carnival costumes). The only exceptions are my latest German sets, which had proper numbers assigned already from the start, and the Slavic beads, which got a complete overhaul and will be re-released soon.

MOST pieces got their lower lods corrected, so that they wouldn’t get all spiky when you zoom out.

SOME pieces had major exploding-in-lower-lods problems fixed. This applies especially to my earliest creations: the 1894 dress and both carnival costumes released last simblreen (Twilight and Rainbow). Also all 4 of my folk dresses, as mentioned already a couple of days ago.

A FEW pieces got some major visual upgrades. Again, I mean mostly my earliest releases: the beads, shortened Parisa bangs and the medievalish apron.

...Do I really have to redownload everything...?!

Not necessarily. If your sim details are set to high or very high, chances are you’ll never even get to see lower lods from close enough to notice any problems - just like I haven’t noticed them for a good year. But if you ever wanted to use a certain piece of mine and were disappointed with how it looks in game, now is the time to redownload it and try again. I swear, I checked everything (which doesn’t mean any oversights are impossible, I’m only human after all, but I’ve really tried).

As for CAS placement, it’s fully up to you. If you don’t care about such things, don’t bother redownloading every single piece of mine you have in your game (...though be aware that any new pieces of mine will appear way higher on the list - the number was changed from (usually) 75 to 17)! But if you like having stuff neatly organised, I think it’d be worth the hassle. Just look how nice it looks now:

Similar updates for men and other age groups will follow, but only in some time. It took some effort, as you can guess, so I’m a bit out of spoons right now. Please have some patience!

Bavarian and Thuringian Folk outfits for Women

Hello everyone!

Most of you probably don't know it, but today Germany celebrates a national holiday, commemorating the fact that on 03.10.1990, after decades of split into East and West, it once again became one country. And so I thought: when could be a better time to finally make that dirndl my fellow German and Austrian historical simmers keep asking me for? And why make only a dirndl, a typically Bavarian piece? Why not be overambitious and spend 1,5 weeks on the project? Let's make it a proper unity day and make two outfits: one from a former western state, and one from an eastern!

And so this little project happened. As a western representative I chose Upper Bavaria (I'd gladly go for sth less mainstream tbh, but fine, here's your dirndl :P), and as eastern - Thuringia (more specifically, the area around Erfurt and Weimar), for the simple reason that it's one of my favourite places in this country. Fun fact: if you look at the map, Thuringia isn't located any further east than Bavaria - in fact it's reaching slightly further to the west. No one said that political geography must make sense ;).

My inspiration for this set comes mostly from the Alte Volkstrachten website. I tried to stick especially to THIS picture for Bavaria and THIS and THIS for Thuringia. Many thanks to @mrtri91 and @simstomaggie for providing me with other inspo pictures!

It's kind of a big set: 12 packages altogether (+ 2 merged ones if you want to simply download it all). Everything is base game compatible, hq mod compatible, disallowed for random, has lower quality meshes for the lower LODs and comes with custom thumbnails and specular & bump maps. Check below for more details on what exactly you get!

1) Bavaria:

  • a full body outfit in 25 swatches (different combinations of the following dress & neckerchief colours)

  • an optional deco fringe in 4 swatches, found under bracelets (won't work properly in laptop mode)

  • a deco flower for the bodice, found under rings

  • a hat slider compatible hat, in 2 versions: with and without deco chain

  • a deco flower and feather for the hat, found under rings (flower) and bracelets (feather) - also hat slider compatible, so they move smoothly with the hat

All of the optional deco pieces belong to different categories, so they all can be used at the same time - as can be seen in the header picture.

2) Thuringia:

  • a full body outfit in 22 swatches (again, different combinations of the following dress, neckerchief & apron colours). Because of the collar using alpha/transparency, it won't work properly in laptop mode.

  • the same outfit, but without the transparent collar = will work in laptop mode

  • an optional deco fringe in 5 swatches, found under bracelets (won't work properly in laptop mode)

  • a decorative headpiece, in 3 very similar swatches (black, pure or with a tiny tinge of green or blue). Unfortunately I didn't manage to make it hat slider compatible (I guess it's too big?); the default placement is adjusted to the Lottie hairstyle by LeahLillith and it should work with any hair without much volume

  • an optional front deco for the headpiece, found under bracelets

The fringe and the front piece deco belong to different categories (left & right bracelet), so both can be worn at the same time.

Everything has been playtested, but of course, with so many different pieces, it might be that I missed something. If you notice any problems, please be so kind to let me know what's going on!

I know folk stuff is kind of niche, but I hope at least some of you will enjoy those creations. It sucks that this year's holiday comes on a Saturday - what a waste of a day off! - so if you're German and upset about those sad circumstances, here's a little gift to cheer you up :).

And if you're from another country and would like to see a certain folk piece in TS4, let me know in the comments! Just please mention a specific region, not just a country - that can work only for Sweden afaik ;). I can't promise anything, but I might come back to your ideas after some time.

October 2020 roadmap

Hi everyone!

September is slowly coming to an end and probably you've realised that it wasn't my most productive month ever. The main reason for this is that I tried to concentrate on writing my tutorial, and while I'd say I was successful in it - published 3 new parts! - it took lots of my time and energy, not leaving much for any cc making. Another reason is that 2 projects I was most excited about turned out to be perfect ideas for Simblreen - so I decided to put them on hold for the time being. Disappointing as it might be, that also means October will be way better, as all that postponed stuff will hopefully get done and published!

I thought it'd be cool to share with you my general 'roadmap' for October - just so that you'd know what to expect and, well, so that you wouldn't completely lose hope in me. Of course plans can always change; I can get some big task to work on, I can get sick, my PC might refuse to turn on again... But if everything goes right, in October you'll be getting (at least!):

  • two folk outfits, maybe with little add-ons for more diversity (and no, finally not cuiavian ones ;) )
  • a matching hat and headpiece
  • a set of 4-5 build/buy objects (kind of medieval, but not necessarily)
  • an early/mid Victorian dress - or two, depending on my meshing speed

The first 2 points will be released together, as a set, at the beginning of the month. The other two are planned as Simblreen gifts, so if you take part in the fun, you'll be able to get them on the second to last and last weekend of October - otherwise you'll have to wait a week or two longer. Unless I decide not to do trick-or-treating after all and just normally publish those pieces from the start.

What's done so far? One of the outfits is fully ready for release and I'm about to start working on the other one. The hat is half-ready; the headpiece is insane and still not even touched. One of the bb objects is almost done, and judging by how quickly that went the other 3-4 shouldn't be a big problem. The Victorian stuff, planned only for the end of October, exists only in my imagination, but that's fine, there's still looooots of time.

I very much hope that I'll make something more in mid-October too, ideally something late Victorian, but only if I have time left. I'm definitely giving the aforementioned points the highest priority.

So. That's it! A little October spoiler. I hope you're at least a little bit excited for what's about to come - I surely am! I wonder how much I'll manage to create for each of the 3 sets. My head is bursting with ideas, but the clock keeps ticking, so it's a bit of a mystery even for me. Thrilling!

Take care everyone, enjoy the autumn (or spring) and hopefully see you in October!

Early Medieval Be(a)rserker Hat / Headpiece

04.10.2020 edit: updated with new CAS placement

Let me explain ^^.

I've been thinking lately of starting some kind of 'Crusader Kings controls my Sims' save and even made some preparations for this: I hoarded tons of medieval CC, built some stuff and played CK2 while taking tons of screenshots any time anything important happened. So, today, while looking through those screenshots, I noticed in one of them a certain chief wearing... Well, basically wearing a bear on his head. 'How the heck am i supposed to imitate this in The Sims?!', I thought; then I recalled that we have a full-fledged bear costume in the game; and then obviously I started fiddling with it - initially just for fun, to check if it'd even be any possible. And, as you can see... It worked not badly.

Comes in 6 swatches: 3 original EA ones and 3 recoloured. I have no idea in which reality the panda swatch could make any sense, but who am I to hamper your imagination?

  • polycount: ca. 7K (I know, I'm sorry, but the og mesh was already quite high poly, and I had to make it double-sided...!)
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, some shine on the teeth
  • tagged as everyday, formal, athletic, party and cold weather
  • available for both men and women
  • found under brimless subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • no PDN this time because it doesn't exist
  • partially hat slider compatible (everything moves with the slider, but the lower part is way less affected than the upper one). Watch out, it may be difficult to grab it from the side - you need to try hard to find the proper angle!

Photos of beta version - uv_1 has been improved since

Of course there might be some clipping if you try to combine it with too bulky outfits, but with thinner ones it looks good. Please let me know if you notice any other problems!

I know it's a crazy and totally unexpected piece, but I hope some of you will like it nevertheless. Enjoy!

Baltic paintings collection (1890-1918)

Hi everyone!

A couple of days ago I watched a cool documentary about late XIX / early XX century painters from modern day Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, and immediately thought it'd be great to have all those beautiful pictures in The Sims. It took me some time (recolouring is easy, but sooooo booooring!), but they are finally here, ready for you to download!

I used works by the following artists: Janis Rozentāls, Johans Valters, Vilhelms Purvītis, Jūlijs Feders, Rūdolfs Pērle, Pēteris Kalve, Aleksandrs Romans, Nikolai Triik, Mikalojus Konstantinas Čiurlionis, Konrad Mägi and Kristjan Raud. Found all over the world wide web. Some of them (Kalve, Romans, Triik, Raud) are represented just by a single painting or two, while the rest plays a much bigger role. Of course, all their names are mentioned in the in-game descriptions as well.

Base game compatible (recolours of bg paintings). You can easily find them (just as my other bb items) by typing 'VS' in the search box.

There are 5 basic packages: horizontal (54 swatches), narrow (7 swatches), square (12 swatches), vertical (30 swatches) and tall (4 swatches). Watch out: some of the pictures feature nudity. I kept them in the selection, because 1) I have no problem with naked bodies, especially in art; 2) those are cool and at times relatively famous paintings, so it'd be a pity to miss on them. However, I'm aware that some people might have a different view on this, so I made alternative, no nudity versions as well. Don't download both 'normal' and 'nonudity' versions - the files will conflict! If there's no 'nonudity' version of a file, that means there are no nudes included in the basic package and there was no point in making an alternative version.

Just like in case of my previous paintings collection, the horizontal ones are quite small, but can be made bigger with the ] key without loss of quality.

Hope you'll find some use for them in your games. Enjoy!

1843 AF day dress

03.10.2020 edit: updated with new CAS placement

02.09.2020 edit: It turned out the dress had some nasty problems with lower LODs, which should be fixed now. Please redownload! Hopefully now it'll look fine from any distance :)

***

Hi everyone,

It's been some time! I'm sorry for that long silence - first we got hit by a heatwave, then my PC stopped working, and then, when I finally could work on this dress, it turned out to be an absolute nightmare. I don't want to bore you with details, but let's just say that I learned a lot about rig slots and positioning sims' arms :/. Anyway, after almost a week of adjusting stuff and pulling out my hair - here it is! An 1840s (1843, to be precise) day dress for your sims.

Comes in 66 swatches. Yes, I went totally crazy this time. Are they all era appropriate? Probably not. Do they still look cool? I'd say yes. Here's a small preview of some of them (because I'm apparently not crazy enough to take screenshots of all 66 ^^)

All patterns come from www.colourlovers.com and belong to their respective creators - thank you all very much for sharing them!

  • polycount: ca. 8,5K
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible (…still hoping)
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, some gentle shine
  • tagged as everyday, party and warm weather
  • found under long dresses subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • allowed for random
  • PDN and PSD for recolours included

I haven's spotted any problems (or rather: I have, but I think I managed to get rid of all of them), but if you see anything, please let me know! I swear I don't bite (well, at least as long as you're civil ;) ).

PS. Bonnet used in the previews by Linzlu, you can find it HERE.

1840s dress for toddlers

Hi everyone!

Lately I was working a bit on my decades challenge - more specifically, on my og sims and their background. I created extensive family trees for both of them, invented a whole bunch of new characters and in general was proceeding really well, but when I wanted to finally make those ancestors in game... I realised half of them have nothing to wear. And I quickly understood that if I really want them to look their part, I'll have to fill the CC gap myself. So - the impossible happened. I decided to go back in time and make some 1830s-1850s pieces.

This won't be any big project or anything, just a couple of things for specific sims. I don't even know if I won't lose my motivation halfway through. Still, maybe some of you, early or mid-Victorian simmers, will enjoy those couple of creations I'll hopefully make.

I decided to start with a simple early/mid 1840s dress for toddler girls. Bonus: it comes with pantalettes and a petticoat-ish texture underneath (it's not very good, I suck at texturing, but I guess it's better than nothing, huh?)

25 swatches:

  • polycount: ca. 4,5K
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible (…still hoping)
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, no shine
  • tagged as everyday, party and warm weather
  • found under long dresses subcategory (by EA standards it is long)
  • colour tagged
  • allowed for random
  • PDN for recolours included - you don’t need it for the mesh to work. Let me know if you’d rather have the PSD file!

I haven't spotted any problems, but please let me know if you notice any. Enjoy!

PS. Cute toddler boots by Nexus, you can find them HERE. Socks, obviously, by Linzlu.
PS2. And biggest thanks to all the lovely people who were/are so kind to support me! I'm immensely grateful to all of you, whether you stay with me for some longer time or 'just' make a one time pledge. I can't describe how rewarding it feels. One of my new patrons even managed to pledge exactly on my birthday, accidentally giving me a wonderful present :D

1893 aesthetic dress

03.10.2020 edit: fixed a problem of mesh getting spiky when watching a sim walk from a distance. Please redownload!

***

Hello everyone!

Today I bring you something I've been planning on making for ages: an artistic / aesthetic / reform(ish) dress for your sims. It's not a full blown reform gown - those became the thing only a couple of years later - but it definitely is influenced by the whole dress reform movement. In case you've never heard of it - beware! Here comes a tiny 'history corner' section:

It all started with the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, a bunch of artists who found the Victorian fashion - especially female - too stiff and unnatural. They were rather fans of long, flowy, loose medieval and renaissance gowns (as you can easily guess from any of their paintings). And that's what they were trying to promote; to reform the way women dressed. They weren't extremely successful at it, as you can see looking at the majority of Victorian fashion plates, but with time the whole idea was getting more and more recognition. There were designers - and brave fashionistas - who liked the whole concept and enjoyed creating (or wearing) what they called 'artistic' or 'aesthetic' dresses. In early 1900s those dresses - now known mostly as 'reform gowns' - kind of made it to mainstream and even though they never replaced the 'proper' fashion, they were at times advertised alongside 'normal' dresses. Judging by how fashion developed in later 1900s and 1910s, I'd say the whole movement did make a difference in fashion history.

As cool as artistic dresses were, you have to remember that they could be worn only by the chosen few. Firstly, you had to be rather rich, as back then - just like now - art wasn't cheap. Secondly, you needed a proper social standing (and probably also the right character for this). Aesthetic dresses were VERY different from the mainstream fashion; especially in 1890s, the decade infamous for tight lacing, wearing something so loose that you could basically not wear a corset underneath at all (not explicitly encouraged, but everyone knew the option was there) made you look like a... Well, either a trendsetter or a weirdo, depending on how influential you were. And thirdly, you also needed a certain figure - tall and slender - to pull off this look, otherwise you could easily end up looking as if you were dressed in a sack. Imagine if that was what We wear bags meant! The whole neighbourhood running around in reform gowns XD

Sooooo, after this long introduction, here it comes! In 20 swatches:

  • polycount: ca. 7K
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible (...)
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, some very gentle shine
  • tagged as everyday, party and warm weather (idk, looks like it could work for summer?)
  • found under long dresses subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random, as only chosen few blah blah blah
  • PDN and PSD for recolours included - you don’t need it for the mesh to work

I haven't spotted any problems, but let me know if you notice any.

Hope you'll like it, enjoy!

1893 outfit + hat for boys

Hi everyone!

I felt like creating more day dresses for my sim ladies and somehow ended up making an outfit for boys. Don't ask. I blame it all on that vaguely Chinese hat - I've already seen something very similar once and almost made it back then, so when I spotted it in yet another fashion plate I knew I won't be able to keep running away from it for much longer. And - I like how casual this outfit is. I think all the clothes for boys I have in my game represent the sailor trend, so it'll be nice to have something else for once. Just an ordinary 'going to school' set :).

Both the outfit and the hat come in 15 swatches, including a mourning one. And they match. I know it's hard to believe, as I'm as bad at making matching swatches as EA, but it really happened:

  • polycount: ca. 6000 (outfit) and ca. 1300 (hat)
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible (still not losing hope...)
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnails, bump and specular maps, minimal shine on the buttons
  • tagged as everyday, party and cold weather
  • found under sets/suits and outerwear subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • PDNs for recolours included - you don't need them for the mesh to work. Let me know if you'd rather have the PSD file!

Problems: none that I know of. It's a simple outfit, so there's not much that could go wrong, but if you notice anything, please let me know.

I hope your boys will like it, enjoy!

1894 coats for toddler boys (conversion)

Vintage Winterwear Collection pt. 16

Hi everyone!

I got a bit bored with all the swimsuits (plus all of a sudden I feel a strong need to proceed with my save, and it's still winter there...), so I decided to finally convert two of my winter coats for boys into coats for toddlers. Come in the same swatches as the originals: you can check them HERE and HERE. This time the 1st one comes only in version without trousers - toddlers are definitely too young for long pants.

I didn't and don't intend to convert the 3rd of the coats I made for boys; it looks very grown-up to me, not really appropriate for such small beans. But if you want to do it yourselves, please feel free :).

  • polycount: ca. 6K (coat no. 1) and ca. 7K (coat no. 2)
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnails, bump and specular maps, no shine
  • tagged as everyday and cold weather
  • found under outerwear subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • no PDNs this time, as I just reused the ones from the OG coats

There is a bit of clipping, especially in case of the 2nd coat, but most of the time it looks good enough to give it a pass. I hope. Let me know if you notice any bigger problems!

Hope you'll like it, enjoy :).

1884 bathing suit for girls

Vintage Summer collection pt. 4

Hi everyone!

Remember my last piece? I converted it for children and edited a bit, so that it'd be more accurate. It seems that bathing suits for children always had shorter sleeves than the ones for adults: when adults wore long sleeves, children wore short, when adults wore short sleeves, children wore no sleeves at all. Hence the edit. Presented by Luna Villareal and Cassandra Goth, who in my story were both 7 years old in 1884 :).

Comes in 15 swatches (a shocking development: I created a consistent colour palette!)

  • polycount: ca. 8K (LOD 0)
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, some metallic shine on the buckle and buttons
  • tagged as everyday and swimwear
  • found under swimsuit subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • PDN and PSD for recolours included - you don’t need it for the mesh to work.

No problems spotted, but if you notice any, please let me know.

Hope your girls will like it, enjoy!

03.10.2020 edit: Fixed a problem with spikes appearing when zooming out. Please redownload!

Vintage Summer collection pt. 3

Hi everyone!

Yet another bathing suit, from yet another decade. Surprisingly, even though it comes from mid-1880s, it doesn't really have a bustle. Just an average, soft skirt. Which makes it more universal - could probably work for 1890s as well, at least for more self-conscious ladies, who don't feel too comfortable in those outrageous short sleeves.

Comes in 15 swatches:

  • polycount: ca. 10K (LOD 0)
  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, some metallic shine on the buckle and buttons
  • tagged as everyday and swimwear
  • found under swimsuit subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • PDN and PSD (experimental) for recolours included - you don’t need it for the mesh to work

I haven't spotted any problems, but if you do, please let me know!

Hope you'll like it. Enjoy!

1858 bathing suit for women

03.10.2020 edit: Fixed a problem with spikes appearing if you zoomed out (looking extra nasty while sitting). Please redownload!

Vintage Summer collection pt. 2

Hi everyone!

It finally happened: I left 1890s for once and made a piece from another decade! You can thank Sims to Maggie ;). It was one of the most difficult pieces I ever attempted, mostly because of my total noobness when it comes to those huge, mid-century skirts, but I think it ended up looking quite nice.

Comes in 12 swatches, mostly in the Moody Victorian Colour Palette by Lunedsims:

  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, some metallic shine on the buckle
  • tagged as everyday and swimwear
  • found under swimsuit subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • PDN for recolours included - you don’t need it for the mesh to work!

I spent lots of time adjusting weights and vertex paint, so that the skirt wouldn't behave like if it was skin-tight, but still would move in a smooth way, without clipping with the bloomers - and I think I mostly succeeded. There's just a tiny bit of bloomer clipping left, a little bit of moving with body sliders and just a little bit of going up when sims sit down. Most of the time it doesn't even clip with tables - it happens only if your sim is really huge:

(Those were still testing textures, the final version looks slightly different).

Also, that fringe trim is going all around the skirt(s). It's gone on the previews because that was the only way to get rid of the remains of the greenscreen, but I swear in reality it's there - as you can see above.

Hope you'll find it useful, enjoy!

Vintage Summer Collection pt. 1

Hello everyone!

Now that it's almost July, I have a good excuse to start yet another collection - this time a summery one! The Vintage Summer Collection will consist of vintage swimsuits (or, should I say, bathing suits), but also - hopefully - of some hot weather wear. I mean, how many swimsuits can one possibly need? I assume it won't grow as big as the winterwear collection (which is still not finished btw...), but thanks to this maybe will include also items from other decades. And/or bathing caps! Who knows? You'll need to ask the future cube :P.

The first item is my take on a cute design from 1893. Comes in 15 swatches:

  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, a bit of shine on the ribbons
  • tagged as everyday and swimwear
  • found under swimsuit subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • PDN for recolours included - you don’t need it for the mesh to work!

Tested with all body types, no problems spotted.

Hope you'll find it useful, enjoy!

Cuiavian male outfit converted for boys

Hi everyone!

And another folk piece - this time my AM outfit converted for boys. Converted and improved: the textures look way less cartoonish, there's zero clipping and the scarf, in contrary to the adult version, does not become a hot mess when the sim sits down. Looks like now I'll have to remake the AM version as well...

Comes in 6 swatches - same as original, but better ;)

  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible
  • works with high shoes
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, no shine
  • tagged as everyday, formal, party and hot weather
  • found under costume and overalls subcategories
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • no PDN, as I just put a new 3D layer on each swatch separately

I promise I'll go back to proper vintage clothing soon. Hope you're not bored to death with my folk spree yet!

Enjoy :)

Cuiavian winter / married woman outfit humblified

02.10.2020 edit: improved lod3 of the outfit so that the pinkie wouldn't explode and updated with new CAS placement. Please redownload!

Vintage Winterwear Collection pt. 15

Hi everyone!

Just a quick edit of yesterday's outfit. A simpler version, without the collar and the apron, for more casual use.

Comes in 22 swatches:

  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, no shine
  • tagged as everyday and either hot or cold weather, depending on swatch
  • found under outerwear and long dress subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • PDN for recolours included - you don’t need it for the mesh to work!

Known problems: I didn't change anything in the mesh except for deleting the collar, so, just like in the other version, it has a problem with capelet clipping with breasts in certain positions. Especially if your sim is blessed in the chest area. It's not very noticeable though, so I hope you won't mind it too much.

Hope you and your sims will like it, enjoy!

Vintage Winterwear Collection pt. 14, kind of

Hi everyone!

Now that the skirt looks like it should, I could finally reuse it and make another Cuiavian outfit for women. If I understand correctly (as all my knowledge comes from the Internet, I've never even seen one live), it was obligatory for married women, no matter the season, and optional for maidens. I assume there must have been some difference in material used: wool for the winter version and something lighter (cotton or even satin, if you could afford it) for summer. That's why I went absolutely crazy this time and made not only 14 very similar swatches, but also duplicated them all, adding wool texture to the 2nd batch, to imitate that seasonal distinction. So, it comes in 28 (!!!) swatches which barely differ from each other. Bear with me :]

  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible (...if we ever manage to get it to work again)
  • all LODs
  • custom thumbnail, bump and specular maps, no shine
  • tagged as casual, formal, party and either hot or cold weather, depending on swatch
  • found under outerwear and long dress subcategory
  • colour tagged
  • disallowed for random
  • PDN for recolours included - you don't need it for the mesh to work!

Known problems: the capelet clips with breasts in certain positions. I didn't want to mess with it though, as in general I like how it's moving most of the time, so please turn a blind eye on it, will you? :)

Hope you and your sims will like it, enjoy!

1890s coats converted for toddler girls

 Vintage Winterwear Collection pt. 13

Hi everyone!

I finally dared to venture into the dangerous territory of toddler conversions. Here come both of my coats for girls, converted for toddler girls. Same swatches as the original pieces - you can check them HERE and HERE.

It's my first toddler conversion, so please let me know if anything doesn't work as intended! They've been playtested and seem to work fine, but of course it might be that I missed something. Stuff happens.

  • Base Game compatible
  • HQ mod compatible (pictures taken with the mod)
  • all LODs

  • no PDNs, as I edited all the og swatches separately (cut off some material at the bottom)

Hope your tots will like them, enjoy!
