Hey all,
As work on my TBD Devastator video continues, I've been busy collecting information for upcoming episodes. On the one hand, I visited the RAF Museum's archive for some prime data on the R.E.8 two-seater (WW1) and Albatros D Va (WW1). The Albatros script is 90% complete, while I have the majority of required notes on the R.E.8. The aim is to make these two aircraft, which the museum has in their arsenal, as the first pilot episodes in a series o...

Hey all,
I have returned from my trip and have launched myself into the next project. Some weeks ago I published a video on the Lae-Salamaua raid. It was an organic outcrop of the research viewer and Patreon Mensch1066 had launched me on, as he had suggested a video on the TBD-1 Devastator as part of his reward perk. Now, we will actually be tackling the plane itself.
During my time looking up this aircraft, I found many surprising elements - one ...

Hey all,
In preparation for tomorrow's release on MAH, here is a video made by the RAF featuring yours sincerely and published on another channel. In it I will visit a RAF Air Traffic Control Tower and an Command and Reporting Center to explain how the RAF envisions Areospace operations and responds to potential threats.
This video is part of a sponsored project with the RAF.

Hey all,
A small little teaser for all of you while I am on my trip. This scene, with one or two adjustments, will feature in an upcoming Bloke on the Range video. Some of you might remember that he featured in my video on the Swiss Air Force some time back. This time it will be vice-versa although I don't know when his video will come out.
Enjoy and thank you for the support!

Hey all,
As some of you noticed, the Spitfire video was put into Private mode (which means only I can access it) by YouTube when I scheduled the release (11 April). As I am on a trip and this is a sponsored video, this was the only way to guarantee publishing it on the agreed time.
However, since the time for you all to see the accessible version of the video was very short, I am providing you a link here for a (slightly) older version. This is not the final rel...

Here is your early access to the second video sponsored by the Royal Air Force.

This video will go live in two weeks. Due to me having to schedule the release (due to the sponsorship and my trip, see previous posts), I will have to restrict access to it at some point in the coming days. Sadly YT can only schedule release videos that are set...

Hey all,
This is a sneakpeak of the test intro for one of the upcoming videos sponsored by the RAF.
You'll see that I incorporated many of the things I have learned over the past months, from audio over to visual modifications. As this sequence is a test and not yet finished, I'd highly appreciate any feedback you might have!

Hey all,
Today I filmed at the Battle of Britain Bunker in London and at Bentley Priory for a very special video on Air Ops sponsored by the Royal Air Force.
During the Battle of Britain, Bentley Priory was the HQ of Fighter Command with the Bunker as home to No. 11 Group.
The filming was with a full crew and the first time I worked on such a challenging project. It was quite something and I hope the footage looks good. The script, writ...

Here is our next release, a full account of the 'forgotten' but crucial USN raid on the Japanese landing forces in New Guinea, March 1942. Only a few months after Pearl Harbor but weeks before the Doolittle raid, this strike can be considered as the first major victory by the Allies in the Pacific.
The video will go Public on Thursday 8pm. Enjoy your early access ;)
Thanks for the support, I hope you enjoy and remember to tell me what ...

Most of you will probably have seen the previous sneakpeak on the Japanese fleet disposition at Lea-Salamaua on 10 March 1942. If not, check it out here. (The final animation looks slightly different and has a new voice over to be more accurate with the Japanese ship names).
Thus, you might recognise the map ab...

Hey all,
Just finished an Audio workshop that went on for a few hours, giving me a deep dive into what good audio sounds like and how to get it right while recording, rather than relying too much on post-processing.
Audio is something that is quite important to videos. Some might say it is even the aspect that pushes a video to the next level. Of course, a lot matters on the kit the viewer uses but crisp, undisturbed and clear audio is good for ev...

Hey all,
Last mentioned before, it's still quite a busy time for me. The schedule for 2019 is looking like it is about set, with filming in museums hopefully commencing sometime in early March.
Likewise, I am continuing my technical lessons to make better videos for all of you. As you can see above, I followed a workshop on Adobe Premiere Pro that I've been using for some time. It proved to be very helpful. Although I knew how to use the pla...

Hey all,
As most of you know, MHV and me had a dedicated Discord server shared between us as part of our reward tiers. This has now changed and there is a private server now available for all of you just for Military Aviation History.
Sharing a Discord was a pretty good solution for both of us back in the day but as our channels developed, it now make...

Hey all,
Here is our next release, incorporating some of the footage shot at the Yorkshire Air Museum last year with a look at the biggest non-nuclear bombs of WW2.
This video is somewhat experimental, with me trying out new editing techniques, practicing with making more technically challenging videos all the while developing an engaging video that is transmits its educational core and also gives people another incentive to engage with history

Hey all,
It's been an incredibly busy week again. At the moment, I am planning the majority of trips, museum visits and events I want to cover in 2019. Likewise, I am continuing to build up practical knowledge for filming and content creation. Right now, I am actually at a workshop for lighting (see picture, not my setup). This is quite a tricky subject as filming within the poor light environment of museums and aircraft is a challenging affair.
For the filming...

Hey all,
I hope all of you had a good Christmas and a fantastic start into 2019. For myself, it has been a bit of a choppy transition, after getting hit hard with some likeness of the flu around the 26th of December, knocking me out cold pretty much until two days ago. That was fun.
Anyway, with that nearly overcome, I am back in action, both at the office writing on my doctoral project (that will go into the necessary upgrade phase, in which I can hopefully prove...

Hey all,
My work on the TBD-1 Devastator continuous. I have completed the technical aspects of the plane a few days ago, which left me with a few questions and surprises that I hope to answer as I go along. This is why it is so important to look at official manuals when creating these videos because not only do I know have a better grasp on the performance and design elements of the Devastator, but I also have avenues to explore. I ordered a book that I hope an...

Hey all,
For our next video we will tackle the request of viewer and Patreon mensch1066. He has asked me to go into some detail on the TBD-1 Devastator, a plane that has gotten a relatively bad reputation following its performance in 1941-1942.
One of the main challenges was finding something concrete on the Devastator. While I have enough sources on its deployment, I had little on the actual aircraft. My search for a pilot manual ended frui...
