Hey everyone,
I’ve been working on something I’m really excited about:
A set of rules for D&D which actually allows you to run from combat.
I’ve playtested them myself, and they’ve been a blast—now I need your help to make them even better!
I’d love for you to try these rules in your next session and share your thoughts.
I’ve put together a feedback form (link in the PDF) with questions about clarity, balanc...

Hello good hunter,
Prepare to descend into the grim realities of endless war with the Trench War Compendium!
Or at least its first Beta Release

Hello good hunter,
Say hello to the Bleeding Sun Deadeye—the last member of our forces of the Bleeding Sun.
I wanted a sniper that kills from the shadows. Its rifle, carved with prayers, fires bullets of holy wrath.
Divine grenades burn flesh and heresy when they are cornered—they never stop hunting.
One shot is absolution. You won’t see it coming.
Quite literally the bullet having your name on it.
Enjoy!

Hello good hunter,
Here's the Bleeding Sun Sintracker ready for holy wars.
I wanted a hunter that stalks the heretics.
It's kitted out like a vampire hunter, with crossbow bolts, blades and Inquisitor style abilities
Spectral hounds howl at its side, sniffing out the rotten in the muck of the Trench War.
No corner hides the damned. The Sintracker drags them to judgment.
So which of your players is the heretic?
Enjoy haha
Hey everyone,
Here’s the Bleeding Sun Penitent—a monster heavily inspired by the Repentia (I'm sure some people will catch that reference)
A zealot that thrives on suffering. It hovers over the battlefield, bleeding itself to grow stronger.
Its blades curse the guilty—each cut costs its own blood, fueling its divine fury for the Bleeding Sun.
Their Pain is power.
I was thinking of making some foot soldiers with this concept (CR 1-2) but had too many ideas ...

Hey everyone,
Here are the latest Unyielding Spells.
These spells hit harder when you’re near death, rewarding risk with power.
Blinding light, binding chains, protective shields, or vengeful spirits—they scale with your pain, not just your spell slots.
I had a player that died because of it, got too greedy and tried to lower their hit points, and well it backfired spectacularly.
Enjoy!

Hey everyone,
Introducing the Swampborn Snapmaw—a monster for gritty, swampy battlefields.
I wanted a predator that ambushes from the muck. Its iron scales and trollish resilience shrug off steel—only fire strips its defenses.
It grabs prey with needle-fanged jaws, rolling through the swamp to drown them in choking reeds.
This beast doesn’t hunt. It devours.
And yes the art is cursed.
Enjoy!

Hey everyone,
Here’s the Bogborn Bloodhound.
I needed a war-beast that thrives in chaos. Troll-spawned, its ritual scars hold its savagery—until it’s unleashed.
Claws shred steel, jaws crush bone, leaving the waters red with the drowned.
It doesn’t track. It slaughters.
And it has that pesky healing factor which makes it oh so hard to kill.
Enjoy!

Hey everyone,
Here's an addition to the army of the Bleeding Sun: the Rampart!
I wanted a tank that actually tanks. Something that can stand in the fire and not flinch. That’s why it’s got a massive shield and tank treads—it’s a living wall, soaking hits while its allies fight behind it.
A tank that tanks, crazy concept, I know...
This is holy war, so I gave it divine powers to match. Radiant attacks, protective light—it’s a zealous juggernaut smiting for...

Hey everyone,
Meet the Bleeding Sun Justicar—a monster for the holy war settings.
I wanted a divine judge that flies over the battlefield. A judging angel of blind justice. Its charred wings and radiant gaze burn the guilty and spare the faithful.
It’s an inquisitor of the Bleeding Sun—searing non-believers with light while shielding the pious with a glance.
Judgment comes fast. One look decides: salvation or slaughter.
Enjoy!

Resurrection magic is no divine gift, no tender mercy woven by benevolent hands—it is a violation, a blade thrust into the gut of nature’s order, twisting until the wound festers. To wrench a soul back from death’s embrace is to defy the inevitable rot that claims all flesh, to spit in the face of the quiet decay that should cradle the departed. The body, once stilled, is meant to crumble—its veins to clog with cold sludge, its bones to splinter under time’s weight—but resurre...

The battlefield was a festering wound upon the earth, a shrine to carnage that sang hymns to the Crusade’s unyielding fury. The regiment—what remained of it—lay scattered like offal in a butcher’s yard. Torn torsos leaked their contents into the mud, severed heads stared blankly at the sky, mouths frozen in silent screams. A soldier’s ribcage jutted upward, cracked open like a grotesque flower, its lungs still quivering in the chill air. Blood ran in rivulets, thick and black, pooli...

One that explodes in a tiny radioactive cloud upon death.

A ton of monsters from the hordes of the Bleeding Sun dropping starting tomorrow, and then we'll wrap the Trench War Compendium.

This is the first monster of a series of absolutely cursed beasts that will come to the Trench War Compendium.
This set of monsters and a couple of extras will be the final stretch before I wrap up the compendium and move to new horizons.
Here is a sneak preview of the new horizons in question.

Hello good hunter,
A scroll soaked in gore, spitting divine spells that claw at your soul with every syllable. Enlightenment isn't free in the Great War.
Desperate cleric in your ranks? This will juice them up with forbidden power—just prepare another character sheet if the cost comes knocking.
High stakes, high rewards.

Hello good hunter,
These bards do not merely speak—they enforce. They are the architects of reality, twisting language into a tool of absolute control. Truth is their prisoner; with every syllable, they rewrite the past, dictate the present, and strangle the future. In their domain, despair becomes loyalty, terror becomes faith, and the soldier’s mind bends to their will as surely as steel bends to heat. A single utterance can transform defeat into triumph—or erase it entirely. Hi...

The Dreamwalker Amulet isn’t some trinket for dreamers; it’s a cold tool of intrusion, humming with a power that worms into sleeping minds. No base is safe, no rest sacred—wear it, and you’re a phantom threading through their nightmares, clawing out secrets or sowing dread that festers like damp in the lungs. It’s quiet war, the kind that breaks a man before he even wakes.
Slip this into the hands of your players. Let them stal...

Hello good hunter,
Through the churned mud and barbed wire, a shadow moves—too quiet, too deliberate. No breath fogs the frigid air; no scream escapes its prey. The Darkblade Assassin is no mere killer—it’s a specter of war’s rot, its jagged edge weeping necrosis into every wound. Men don’t just die; they wither, flesh blackening as their life’s drained into the mire. Shells burst, rifles crack, but this thing hunts beneath the din, a cold terror that turns hardened soldiers...

Hello good hunter,
This shield’s a battered beast, etched with holy scriptures, soaking up pain meant for others. A grim slab of steel born in the muck of no-man’s-land.
Picture a frontline tank, some stubborn soldier who’d rather bleed out than watch his brothers die. This thing’s built for that hero—or martyr—who holds the line while hell rains down on earth.

Hello good hunter,
These monks have divine fire in their veins, their fists smashing through mud and bone, leaving a trail of charred sinners.
Holy rage meets trench brutality.
Think of that wild-eyed zealot in your group, the one itching to pulp heretics. This subclass is their ticket to unleash hell on the heretics, right in the thick of war.

I'll just put my favorite line from their lore here, it explains their concept perfectly:
"Their shotguns, anointed with the ash of burned saints, bellow prayers of lead that shred the heretics."

Hello good hunters!
MonkeyDM here, swinging in with something bloody spectacular for all you weapon-crafting lunatics out there. I’ve been tinkering in the workshop (probably with too much coffee and a touch of madness), and it’s finally ready: the Trick Weapon Workshop V2 is LIVE!

Hello good hunter,
No post today because I've dusted off my old Java, CSS and HTML books from high school to make the full trick weapon workshop available as a webapp.
I released an update on Kickstarter a couple of days ago where I gave everyone the full math with the excel spreadsheet to build weapons themselves, but I do agree that it isn't the prettiest of designs, which is why I decided to spruce it up.
It should be done soon enough and made available to all of you.<...
It is not enough to serve. It is not enough to fight. To be truly devoted, one must be willing to burn.
The Radiant Reaper is not wielded—it is endured. It does not fire—it consumes. Those who bear it do so knowing they will not see another sunrise, for this weapon demands nothing less than its wielder’s life.
To draw forth the Radiant Reaper is to submit to the...

Venture into the haunted echoes of the trenches, where the silence after a barrage is as chilling as the enemy’s retreat.
Waking Scream is a cunning dagger that jolts foes from their slumber with a shock that leaves them reeling in terror.
Combine it with the previous post of Slumber Edge, and you have a deadly weapon combination.

Just a different take on the Inspiring Leader archetype basically.

Step into mud-soaked trenches where every lull in the chaos might be your enemy’s undoing. Slumber Edge is a magical scimitar designed to catch foes off guard—a critical hit can send them into an all-too-brief, yet dangerous, sleep.
With the new Two Weapon Fighting rules, this light weapon can easily become a death sentence.
