Monster: Wererabbit

No vegetable garden is safe when there is a wererabbit around.

This werecreature is definitely inspired by a certain 2005 Wallace & Gromit movie.

You may want a stat block for the giant rabbit, which this monster can turn into.

Monster: Giant Rabbit

I was writing up my new wererabbit, when I realized I needed to have a suitable rabbit form for them.

A giant rabbit is just like a regular rabbit, but much, much larger.

Monster: Werebat

Werebats have existed before in D&D. This is my particular take on the concept.

Werebats have a mystical tie to vampires. They hunger for blood, and drinking it can quickly heal them, but they don't need it to survive. Vampires can control werebats...which may lead to werebats that have an intense hatred for vampires.

Continuing with my expansion of lycanthrope options, I present the wereshark.

Yes, this could totally be the star of one of those Syfy channel monster movies.

Monster: Werecrocodile

As part of my project to add new lycanthropes/werecreatures for 5e, I created the werecrocodile.

These ambushers are largely antisocial, but find acceptance (and willing followers) with lizardfolk (as long as they don't turn back to mammalian humanoid form).

Map: Burgomaster's Mansion (Vallaki, CoS)

These maps were made for a certain mansion within the Curse of Strahd adventure module. Suitable for Roll20 or other virtual tabletops.

Monster: Werecrow

I am starting to create a variety of new lycanthrope types, and the werecrow is the first.

Monster: Oborpazúr

A creature with "giant claws" (the name combines the Slovak words obor and pazúr), this monstrosity is a Huge replacement for the D&D umber hulk. Bigger, with more dangerous melee attacks, this creature's scent causes delusional thoughts in creatures near it (rather than relying on a PC looking at it).

An oborpazúr might be enslaved by a jangboko, which makes both creatures more dangerous to adventurers...

Monsters: Lycanthrope Alterations

I've modified the 5e lycanthropes somewhat, mostly changing things like their damage immunity (now a resistance, but no longer bypassed by magic weapons) and giving them a little regeneration (which gets faster when there's a full moon).

This includes the werebear, wereboar, wererat, weretiger, and (of course) werewolf.

Not major changes, but it does increase the importance of silvered weapons (so they're not something to just throw away as soon as you get a magic weapon) and make...

One of the locations in a certain gothic horror themed adventure module is a church and its basement.

Plot Hook: An Ordinary, Dusty Basement

Jon's cat, Sir Fluffles, has gone down into the basement and hasn't returned. Jon is afraid of the dusty old basement, so he begs passing strangers to rescue his kitty. He'll even give them gold as a reward.

It's just an ordinary, dusty basement. Probably the easiest rescue quest ever. I'm sure there's nothing out of the ordinary down there.

Point of Interest: Crockmon's Fine Porcelain

This shop doesn't sell magic items, or weapons, or any other gear typical adventurers might want.

Not everything in a world should revolve around PCs. That said, the fine porcelain sold here is something nobles would pay someone to acquire and bring to them as a sign of status and wealth.

Plot Starter: So Evil I Could Die

Bards are telling tales of a wizard so evil and rich, it's like the guy is practically begging for heroes to end his life.

Orcish Rotgut (nonmagical beverage)

The players in my campaigns have encountered this, as it has been a part of my homebrew world for a very long time.

The stuff is dangerous because of both the (hidden) alcohol content and the effect it has on people who are not orcs (or half-orcs).

Monster: Nymph

A part of D&D for, like, ever, the nymph did not return for 5e. I have need of one for an upcoming unique foe so I decided to stat them out based on an older edition of the game.

They don't have high AC, or a lot of hit points, or a lot of combat abilities...but their supernatural beauty can blind or even kill you.

NPC: Andron Starleaf, Merchant of the Arcane

This gnome sells spells to wizards from his collection (copying from spellbook pages, not selling magic scrolls), and he can add magic to items (like grandma's greatsword you started with at 1st level for character backstory flavor).

Battlemaster's Chess Set

The magic of this chess set prepares your mind for battle, but it does take 1 to 4 hours to finish a game, and it requires two players (no magical benefit for playing against yourself).

A certain dragon may have just finished watching The Queen's Gambit and felt inspired to make something chess-related.

Sword of Prophecy

This legendary magic weapon is not only a tool of the battlefield, it grants you the power to (possibly) foretell the future.

The sword does let you use a 9th-level spell, but at the cost of it losing all of its magic for an entire month.

And yes, it does have what looks like a small version of Magic 8-Ball for a pommel. Instead of a floating polyhedron, this item uses actual magic.

NPC: Tond Silverforge, Monster Slaying Merchant

This friendly magic item seller has a secret job, fighting things that go bump in the night.

Spell: Shopkeeper's Ward

In a world where friends, charm person, suggestion, and dominate person are a thing, shopkeepers need to protect themselves from people (aka, adventurers) who would use such magic to cheat them out of hard-earned money.

Some shopkeepers take to hiring skilled spellcasters to place this ward on their establishments.

The spell doesn't stop all mind-affecting magic...just the use of such magic to affect thoughts about money and merchandise.

NPC: Tus Lo, Legendary Combat Instructor

Created at the request of a generous patron of the D&D arts, this character was made with bits of influence from Yoda (The Empire Strikes Back), Piandao (Avatar: The Last Airbender), Oogway (Kung Fu Panda), and a bit of old martial arts movie vibe.

This is a legendary figure that people go to for learning the secrets of combat, but he doesn't take just any student.

Weaponmaster's Rod of Pain

It's a magic club that can be transformed into different types of weapons, so you always have the best tool for the fight.

Axes of the Hive Guard

This matched pair of bee-themed weapons was made at the request of a generous patron of the D&D arts. They look nice and even smell faintly of honey, but they sting.

Corrosion Pail

The slimy red-orange goo inside this wooden pail won't spill out, but you can pull a handful out and throw it at something. When thrown, it becomes an improvised ranged weapon that deals acid damage, and it deals extra damage to metal things as they instantly corrode.

Yup. It's a rust bucket.

NPC: Maximus the Strong, Motivational Gym Bro

Maximus is a half-ogre who prides himself on being strong, and he wants everyone else to do their best to become strong as well. He has ways of motivating others to push themselves to achieve feats of strength.

This NPC makes use of my Way of the Whey monk subclass from Febru-dairy 2022.

Monster: Titan Tortoise

This massive, ancient tortoise likely doesn't care a bit about a group of adventurers, not even noticing if they are underfoot.

The PCs in my current campaign encountered one of these. Where it had been sleeping, they found the remains of a crushed house, and in the basement space were the remains of another group of adventurers that never got out when the tortoise decided to go to sleep years earlier.

Spell: Sight Without Sight

Be able to see even when you normally wouldn't be able to. Only works for the caster, doesn't let you see as far as darkvision does, but reveals things more clearly and gets around things like fog.

Spell: Burnblade

Conjure a dagger or shortsword made of fire. It works a lot like a normal weapon, except it does fire damage, uses your spellcasting stat for attack rolls, and it reappears in your hand if you throw it (dagger) or drop it (dagger or shortsword).

When you go up in level, you can make two of them appear at once so you can dual wield if you want to (you could cast it twice to do the same thing at lower levels).
