Umbrella of Reversal

This item could be used as a prank, so I think it fits for today's creation. It is the 1st of April, after all.

This umbrella keeps you dry when it's raining...but rains on you when it's dry. It blocks light when it's bright out, and illuminates you when it's dark.

Monster: Silver Serpent

A celestial snake that comes to the mortal world to hunt down corrupted beings like vampires and werewolves.

Some say it can actually help those that are ill or cursed.

Spell: Noisy Sneaks

Don't you just hate it when everyone else is asleep and you're trying to be quiet and you manage to find every squeaky step or floorboard, bump into every chair, and every door creaks loudly as you try to open or close it?

This spell takes that problem and makes it worse for creatures you don't want sneaking around.

Condition: Turned

This condition is based on the cleric’s ability to turn undead. I set it up as its own condition so that the base effect can be used for other features, spells, or effects, without having to define the effects each time.

Monster: Dreamcatcher

This spidery creature builds strange, circular webs that capture dream energy, which it then feeds on.

It's a jealous beastie though, and if it can't have your dreams...then neither can you.

Inspired by a post on my Discord server.

Chariot of the Blazing Sun

Ride this chariot into battle and your weapons will become radiant implements of victory.

Also, the horse (or whatever) pulling it will be able to see in the dark.

Inspired by the myth of Apollo/Helios, with the whole sun chariot thing.

Monster: Jangboko Moholo

This elder eater of brains is not a giant brain in a stationary pool of salty liquid. It's an older, bigger, smarter, tougher monster that will eat younger jangboko if it feels like it.

This thing will not be found on its own, as it tends to keep a hive of jangboko under its direct control, along with anything it or its underlings have enslaved and enthralled. A jangboko only gets this old and powerful if it'...

Monster: Jangboko

I wanted a creature that could take the place of WotC's mind flayer in my materials and possibly even in my campaigns (partly because that creature isn't part of the SRD).

The jangboko (eater of brains) is a more monstrous version that is not a humanoid shape with an octopus head. Instead, it much more octopus or squid inspired, larger, is amphibious, and can float through the air and squeeze through small spaces to get to you.

Bands of the Restful Sloth

In a D&D game at the moment, but was inspired to make these because apparently there is a PC hiding in a tree, but the player isn't present tonight. DM said the character probably fell asleep while hiding in the tree.

The mottled green color comes from the fact that some sloths have green algae that grows in their fur.

Toothbreaker Amulet

Protection for the wearer and a toothache for anything that would try to bite them, both provided by this magical amulet.

OK, so being petrified for 10 minutes probably isn't great. Chances are most predators aren't going to keep trying to bite a statue for 10 minutes though.

This was originally created in my Wednesday night game, a gift from a hag for a certain well-fed duck that the party had been bringing with them for a while.

Guilt can be used to make people donate some coins, and magically-induced guilt can bring in more valuable coins.

Bracers of the Golden Bell

This set of musical bracers is for the monks out there. They protect like a shield and can be used with unarmed strikes to turn hits into sound.

There aren't a whole lot of items designed to help out monks in particular, so I wanted to come up with a little something.

Created at the request of a generous patron of hte D&D arts, this spell takes incoming radiant damage and transforms it into harmless light that can turn foes into friends.

Mall Maul

Homophones can be fun. Two words that sound the same but have different spellings and meanings. This pairing came to mind and I knew I had to make something with them...either a lot of shops that sell only hammers, or a hammer that has something to do with lots of shops. I opted for the 2nd.

Ranger Archetype: Bird of Prey (a Febru-aviary creation)

I just finished the final bird-themed creation of Febru-aviary, a ranger subclass that gets some bird/air-related spells, a special bird familiar, and eventually the benefits of improved vision, stronger attacks with feathered weapons, and flight.

Like the previous six themed-content months, I definitely enjoyed making things for this one. It seemed to pass very quickly.

When I was a kid, there was a short-lived cartoon called SilverHawks. I used the name of the show as inspiration for this magic item that turns into a silver bird construct.

Yes, this one can shoot lasers.

Owl Cowl (a Febru-aviary creation)

This large, stylish wool hood gives you the senses of an owl when it is drawn over your head. You get more benefits at night.

Some owls have a really bad sense of smell. Large owls are one of the few creatures that will eat skunks. I decided to add a bit of that drawback/benefit to the usual "owls see good at night" idea owl senses.

I also gave it the owl mask illusion part just because it sounded fun.

This spell lets you move a heavy object without worrying about how much it weighs.

It snowed here in Wisconsin last night, and we're getting more tonight. It made me think of creating a snow bird.

Then I remembered living in Arizona, where the snow birds are a thing: older people from other parts of the country that move to the warmer climate during winter.

These slower birds are magical animals that like warmer climates but always bring winter with them.

This giant, yellow-feathered bird creature isn't exactly friends with wooly mammoths.

Monsters: Vulture Company Mercenaries (a Febru-aviary creation)

This document contains five monster/NPC stat blocks for members of a group of undead-hunting mercenaries:

• Aegypius (heavily armored fighter)
• Cathartes (ranged crossbow ranger)
• Necrosyrtes (skilled rogue)
• Neophron (light-wielding cleric)
• Sarcogyps (fire wizard)

These mercenaries were inspired by vultures, which rid the world of corpses. Yes, each rank/role in the group is named for a species of real-world vulture.
