Few things are as frightening as being hunted by a predator you can't see.
Phantom hawks are large, as in Large sized, raptors that seem to appear out of thin air right as they grab hold of their prey.
It doesn't help that you can't even escape these things by turning invisible yourself.

Every DM needs a quick blood cult at some point or another.
This document contains four monster stat blocks for:
- a cult leader
- cult enforcers (who keep regular cultists in line)
- regular cultists (ordinary people, but mentally given over to the cult)
- a cult spy (who secretly works to protect the cult leader).
It was inspired by someone asking for blood cultists on a Discord server.

While this spell can't stop a missile weapon from hitting, it can let the attacker feel what they dealt.
Created with certain space-sailing combat in mind, it will work just as well when you are on the ground.

Load up your ship/siege weapons with shiny, magical ammunition that packs a bigger punch than normal.
Created with space-sailing ships in mind, it's good for ground-based siege weapons as well.
2022-09-17: Added a line to the description to make sure this magical ammunition bypasses any damage threshold of the target, so you aren't wasting a spell slot if you happen to roll low on damage.

I originally created this spell way back when I ran and played 2nd edition AD&D. I was in high school at the time, and this spell was written in a spiral-bound notebook during a boring study hall. I've still got the original spell pages of that notebook in a folder.
The spell was rewritten for 3rd edition, and I've now updated it for 5e. I figured it would be useful with the impending release of new Spelljammer content.

I am currently working on creating a band of NPC adventurers and figured I'd open up the creative process to you, the generous patrons of the D&D arts.
If you have an idea for a character that would fit a party of misfit, yet mostly competent, adventurers, feel free to comment with that idea. Anything as simple as a name or rough concept will do, or something more elaborate can also work.

Change the battlefield to give your side the advantage. Maybe set some things on fire and blow some things up along the way. Take control of a large siege weapon to make it more dangerous.

This oversized crossbow can only fire once per turn at most, and you can't move on the turn you use it, but it deals a lot of damage and it can send a bolt right through your first target to hit a second one.
