Impressionist/pointillist brushes

Billing is paused for this month (because holidays) but I thought I'd release a mini pack anyways. Enjoy! These have some hue jitter and basically let you make like 50 brushstrokes in a single stroke. Because I'm lazy but lots of strokes are fun.

I tested them out on a quick study, and found they work pretty well if you use the lasso tool for big shapes and then sweep the brush around inside it.

Material Render Brushes

I've been doing some close-up paintings for work , and made some brushes to help achieve different surface effects.

How I'd use these is render with the ones labelled shader and then smear/blend areas where the texture is too heavy (like deep shadows). You can also just stamp on a specular highlight with the specular brushes.

overall I think they're a good time saver, especially for getting specular highlights with more interesting and realistic shapes.

I need to work on this part of the setting a bit more.

Halloween Brushset <3

Happy scary day! Please enjoy this mini brushpack. It's a bit of biomech, a bit scaley, and some tentacle suckers. Hopefully something for everyone. As a bonus, this is the newest TLOctober pic too. 

Almost sad the month is almost over! It's been a really good learning experience, I'll try to do more regular quick paintings from now on because while it was a bit hard to do every day, it honestly wasn't as hard as I thought it would be.

Gonna try and do a quick painting like this every day this month! Open to suggestions for scenes or prompts, but mostly I'm going with the flow for speediness. 

At the end I'll bundle them into a pdf, but in the meantime will throw them here occassionaly

Palette Knife Brushes

I used to really like painting with palette knives when I would use oil paint, so I made myself a few brushes that do almost the same thing in photoshop. They're very textured and have ragged edges, which makes them good for blocking in a background fast for you to paint over.

Did a quick paint sketch of a thrall to test them out as well. I'm not 100% what gear exactly they'd be carrying on the fronts but it might be like this for some of them, with a bindle slung on a harpoon?

Canid and Human Head Brushes/Shapes

Are you sick of drawing the same guide lines over and over? I sure was. So I modeled a basic Loomis head and had Blender output every front angle. Then I made a doggo too <3 I'm a big fan of taking the chores out of art, so that artists can create as fast and fluid as possible.

These can be used in a few ways: just lasso and copy your desired guide out of the sheet, or import my brushes and/or shapes to have them handy at all times in your art program.

Scar Brush Mini-pack

Another lil thing to help with character design, painting etc. ^^ Produce fairly naturally shaped scars with a lot of randomisation. You can also use these with a simple bevel effect in your art program of choice to see what they look like raised off the skin.

Marking Experimentation Brushes

This month's brush pack <3

The idea with these is to do quick and dirty marking passes on your designs, so if you have an idea (what if stripes?) it will only take you 1 stroke to find out if you like it. Then you can either redo it by hand to fit the form better, or edit what you've produced.

I've done my best to make the markings curved like they're flowing around a form, and they're based on natural animal markings. Hope they're useful!

Thrall Toys - TLO Worldbuilding Art

Toy thralls became popular with human children after the Poison War, and remained so into the 13th century. At the same time, thrall makers were developing their own style of toys for their own children.

Ruin Brushes

Building silhouette brushes, like tree brushes, usually look way too photographic for my taste. These are swooshier and crunchier silhouettes to help block out your backgrounds.

Side note, why is brushes spelled like that? With an 'e'? Why not brushs?

Doing Master Studies - Painting Video with Commentary

Dark Art Brushes

I would have called these frottage brushes, but, yknow.

Many surreal and dark artists start paintings with high density marks created using rubbings or sponges etc. The idea is to build on and create a lot of mysterious detail that could be anything.

Might add to this pack later since I think this technique isnt represented enough in brush packs <3

In my new Concept Art job I found myself using a bunch of brushes to make lights, smoke, snow and glowing embers a lot.

Those were NDA though, so I made them again for you guys (but better!)

Smudge Tool Brushes

These brushes are intended for use with Photoshop (or CSP's) smudge tool. This tool is actually really useful but lags insanely when used with normal brushes. My set is optimised for use with smudge, and should work with minimal lag on decent machines.

Use them to create interesting edges in your paintings (this is one of the quickest way to do nice hair, smoke and blending I've found!).
