Well now you can, and finish before you die of old age! Use these to slap down a base layer, making strokes along the form of the character. Then paint over the top to add realism and detail. Or leave raw for an edgy 'it's digital, it's concept art, it's 2010, fuck you' look.

PSD templates for use in Photoshop, CSP or your PSD reading program of choice!
There's one for presenting sketches on nice paper, one for thumbnailing and one for painting (with a bunch of light layers that I genuinely use in a lot of work). I don't suggest you use ALL the layers in any of these, but choose the ones you enjoy and maybe it'll give you a little boost to finishing your pieces.

Overall it's MUCH quicker to get nice hair results using these. I've been enjoying them a lot.

On request, I recorded this one so you can see how I did the extra fluffy hair!
The basic principle is start with a blob done using only a large, soft round brush (the most basic kind). On top of that you then add a little bit of textured flyaway using actual hair and detail brushes.

An update on the PSD file that I use to start most of my paintings! This has a big stack of useful layers with effects and what have you, but the main thing is just a high resolution ground-washed canvas texture so you're not starting from Blank White.

Back on my thrall portrait bullshit to try these out!
Like all illustration obsessives I idolise that weird as JC Leyendecker crosshatched/scribbly-yet-deliberate brushwork. But also I sure as hell am not taking up gouache.
These brushes won't make you Leyendecker, but they will force you to try some interesting stuff.

The quest continues to get PS brushes to replicate the feel of my beloved but expensive, toxic and annoying oil paints
These are the closest yet! The real answer might be using the mixer brush with something like these, but that's so incredibly laggy on most machines I'm just writing it off for the moment.

Etching is a highly ~* a e s t h e t i c *~ traditional print making process which involves using strong acid to eat away parts of a sheet of metal.
Or you could just download these brushes and photoshop action and go nuts <3 Use the included action to create authentic bleed effect on your linework layer/s.

Do your brushes have enough texture? Wrong! They don't!
These use some high res scans of paint and ink surfaces made into seamless textures. They'd be very impractical for fine details, but will help a lot in the early stages of a painting to stop things becoming lifeless early on.

Brushes for quickly making pretty designs on your clothing, buildings, furniture, etc! I love stuff like this to save a bunch of time while adding detail to pieces.
These ones are vaguely inspired by art deco and classic Japanese fabric patterns, and were designed to fit in the TLO universe. That said they'd go well in any kind of fantasy setting and could probably fit in scifi as well.

Brush pack for this month is all about painting those damn walls and floors. I know this might seem a bit niche but bear with me: I've included a video demo this time to show some of the tricks that are useful with these types of brushes. When combined with different layer effects and opacity clipping they become a big time saver when painting interiors and buildings.
