Chapter 33: Man Down
We'd screwed up.
The infiltration had gone fine. With John leading, we'd snuck our way through the guards at the perimeter surrounding the keep, following the waterways up to the portcullis that served as a drain for the keep's water systems.
If you ever have a chance to check out the drain-off from a fire giant privy, word of advice: don't.
Once we had reached the wall, it was my turn to cast my Bubb...

“Be seated, everyone.”
We had all stood when Director Wilson entered the conference room. The four of us had been waiting, maybe a bit impatiently, for twenty minutes for the director’s arrival. The conference room the director had booked for our meeting was designed to seat around fifty. Well, true to everything else at BioSynthIndustrialMedic...

Donna appeared at my door while I was trying to decide if I had anything more comfortable than I was already wearing. She looked at me as if waiting for permission to come in.
“What?” I asked.
“Umm,” she said, hesitating. “We’re going to Springdale Motor-Vu, right? That’s right here, you know?”
I began to get an inkling of what she might mean, so I frowned at her.
She came right out and said it. “You want to go as Joni, so if we meet anyone we know, t...

I felt myself sliding on gravel and pavement. Everything was black. The sounds I heard seemed far away. I heard the engine of Nick’s 750 running full throttle, but it sounded distant. Sounds of other motorcycles faded in and out. I heard footsteps running up to me. Someone touched my arm.
“Randi! Randi!”
I heard distant ambulance...

"Bwahahaha!"
The fire giantess slapped her knee as she laughed, the gust of wind produced by the impact upsetting the tripod, suspending our kettle over the campfire. Adrian rushed to set it back up while our unexpected guest continued to cackle in glee.
"Yae think a little gaggle o' bairns like ye'self can jus' wend yer way up the canyon, in the gates, and 'ave a wee chat wit tha Chief?" She chuckled some more. "Whoa me, ah ain't heard a line tha' rich in ag...

Things progressed quickly, and pretty soon, everyone was trying on things from Joanna’s big closet. Well, nearly everyone.
Joanna, Megan, Katalina, and a girl named Daphne concentrated on me. Before I knew what was happening, the top part of Joanna’s cheerleader uniform had gone over my head while Megan pulled the skirt bottom up my legs.
Joanna laughed. “Been a long time since you wore a skirt, huh, Gayle?”
I had to agree. “Forever,” I said.
She winked at ...

Shocked, I stared at Colin. “How can you say that?” Colin just grinned at me.
The photographer flashed me a smile. “You two certainly make a cute couple.” She hung the camera around her neck and picked up a clipboard she also had hanging around her neck. “So, sweetie, can I have your name? It’s so I can tag your picture correctly...

There's now a new way of presenting posts called collections. I can gather related posts and put them into collections so they can more easily be read in sequence. There should be a tab near the top of the Patreon page for everyone labeled Collections.
Currently, I have created six collections: Butterscotch, Jane, Quillian, Big Rock Candy Mtn Detour, Sam and Dell, and Melanie E's Double Date Dare.
What do you think? Would you like to see more Collections?

Chapter 31: Pillow Talk
Was I dreaming?
It had to be a dream, I decided, because we were on a beach, watching the sunset, and I didn't think Lake Travis was big enough to lose the horizon in the water and clouds.
It also had to be a dream because, for whatever reason, I was wearing a bikini.
Even in a dream, I couldn't help but roll my eyes at that. My whole life, I'd been called a girl, told I looked like one, acted like...

Chapter 30: Aftermath
"Holy cheezits is that better," I grumbled as I flopped on the foot of the bed, just carefully enough not to send pizza flying from the boxes in the middle. "If I never have to wear another ankle-length dress, it'll still be too soon." Especially one I had to be sewn into, and seam-ripped out of.
"What about your dress for tomorrow?" Brian asked, leaning back on his elbows and plucking a slice of pineapple-encrusted pizza from the bo...

I didn’t really know what to expect next, but there are rules of engagement for these conscripted makeovers. This was, in fact, something that happened with almost every ice cream party at Joanna’s. Most of the other girls had gone through something like this before, and, in fact, last month was Joanna’s turn because she was now head cheerleader.
None of this info (which I got piecemeal from Megan in asides) helped banish the feeling of caterpillars with cold feet crawling through...

“I am not a girl!” I shouted into the phone when I called Colin. “How can you say that? I mean, are you serious?”

Chapter 29: Three's A Crowd
"...and as you stack the last of the corpses on the bonfire, you hear the approach of heavy, largefootsteps."
I whimpered and looked around at the rest of the crew nervously. I was almost entirely out of magic power, and with us being on the way to the Hold of the Fire Giants, that was a dangerous situation to be in.
"From the gloom beyond the firelight emerges a shadowy form, tall as a tree, the red tones in its skin mat...

"Are you there?"
"Yeah," Caleb confirmed.
"We can't see you again."
"I know," he said with a small growl of frustration. "My camera's still not working."
"Too bad," one of his co-workers said. "It feels like we haven't seen you in months!"
"You haven't," Caleb admitted, smiling. "Wish I could say the same!"
That got the laugh he wanted, and the subject matter was dropped, just like it was every time.
"Well,...

The front door closed a bit more loudly than I had anticipated. From the kitchen, Mom called out, “Randy? Where have you been?”
I walked into the kitchen and said, “I was at the track, Mom. Remember? I told y’all about watching Nick race. Where’s Dad?”
Mom shook her head. “On the back patio watching that stupid TV.” Dad...

Chapter 27 --
I didn't care if they were for girls, I was buying myself a pair of ballet shoes when we got home, I'd decided. And I was never questioning Aunt Cici's shoe recommendations again.
It being Saturday meant the convention was in full swing, the throngs of people packed at least twice as tightly as they had been the day before. Normally, that would mean nothing but stress for me as I tried to navigate between booths and panels, due to my size.
Not so this time.

I love football, and this is probably the last year I'll get to play on a real team. I mean, it's just the Friendly Arizona High School Lions, but we went to the State tournament last year, and I think we're going to make it again this year.
Things have been different for me since the third league game of the year, though, and people are going to start noticing that I don't fit into my uniform the way I used to.
I'll be going to college next year, and I doubt I'll be able to...

“Be honest, Pete,” Joanna commanded. “Has anyone asked you out?
I felt like everyone turned to look at me all at once. I stalled. “You mean besides Megan?” I wasn’t going to mention Leland Frick’s offer to go to the movies, which certainly wasn’t a date!
Most everyone laughed, Beverly’s tipsy cackle louder than the rest.
Smiling but not laughing, Joanna got more direct. “You know what I mean. Has any boy asked you out as Gayle?”
Put that way, I ha...

I got showered in dirt as the bike blasted around the berm. I guess I was standing a bit too close. But I just grinned and wiped the dirt from me. Another bike roared through the curve, throwing up another rooster tail of dirt. My friend from high school, Colin, on his Husky blasting around the curve, closing in on the second-place bike.
It was another Saturday afternoon at Race World. There was just the motocross today,...

Eight minutes and forty-three seconds later, the bathroom door opened, and like a flash, I was there waiting to get in. I'd have pushed past him, but something about seeing him there almost naked and still dripping made me stop in my tracks.
Brian jumped a little when he found me standing outside the door waiting for him but was in no hurry to step through. "Need in?" He asked, giving me a toothy grin.
"I'm stinky, and I need to pee," I complained, grimacing a bit at ho...
