Shopping at the Crooked House

This is one of those rare weeks in which we don’t have any normal release scheduled. But fear not—we do have a Patreon-exclusive mini-eventure for you. In the great tradition of many old-school villages we have a general store run by cultists. Perhaps your characters could pop in for a spot of light shopping?

Shopping at the Crooked House is available in 5e, OSR and Pathfinder 1 editions. You’ll find it attached to this post. Download as many of the editions as you fancy ...

Daring the Road of the Dead

This week, we return to the site of our second ever adventure: the Road of the Dead. Originally only published for Pathfinder 1, this new and expanded version of the adventure comes in 5e, OSR and Pathfinder 1 editions. With new maps, better organisation and an entire extra encounter, this flavoursome adventure is now even easier to run.

About Road of the Dead

Centuries ago, the Tuath were a mighty folk who strove against the goblins of the Tangled Wood for dominion ove...

The Village Backdrop Index Begins

I've started working on a Village Backdrop index. This thing will take a fair bit of time as we published north of 70 instalments in the line.

I'm ruminating on the kind and amount of information you might want or need in a Village Backdrop index. Thus, find the attached PDF. It's a sample of 12 villages pulled from GM's Miscellany: Village Backdrop V (5e) and the complimentary compila...

Onyx Prison the Demon King

Warn your players, Bart Wynants is back with another cracking Dungeon Backdrop ready to be slipped into your campaign. This time, he takes us (in 5e, OSR and Pathfinder 1 editions) to the Onyx Prison of the Demon King!

The Big News

This week, I completed work on the print edition of the Dread Thingonomicon. As you read this it is with our printers. Soon (hopefully), I’ll have physical proofs (hardback and softcover) in my hands.

I’m both excited and r...

Out on the Plain (and News!)

We bravely journey into the wilderness this week with Wilderness Dressing: Plains. While many adventures take place in dungeons or ruins such locales are normally surrounded by wilderness. That’s where the Wilderness Dressing line comes in. Don’t just handwave their party’s journey! Instead, add cool features that help you build verisimilitude and flavour into your game.

Wilderness Dressing: Plains comes in 5e, OSR and Pathfinder 1 editions.

Shambling Wererats?

It’s Monstrous Lair time! This week, we’ve got free copies of Monstrous Lair #65: Shambling Mound’s Lair and Monstrous Lair #66: Wererats’s Sewer as a thank you for your epic support.

I’ve always thought that shambling mounds are a little bit underused but that also they can be tremendously versatile. Normally, they are encountered in dismal marshes and blighted forests. With a little work, though, you could have aquatic shambling seaweed mounds, sewer mounds...

It's Vile Star Time!

This week, we have got the Vile Star storyline in print for you. This compilation book, available in 5e, OSR and Pathfinder 1 editions, is larger than previous Storyline books. We are trying something different.

As well as the three Dungeon Backdrops you get an extended look at Dunstone, the Storyline document and all six exclusive mini-eventures set in the town. This book contains an entire mini-campaign! Remember, with Dungeon Backdrops we do most of the work for you. All you have to ...

Fey-tal Attraction…

We’ve got two fey-focused Monstrous Lair releases for you this week. They would go perfectly with Wilderness Dressing: Woodlands or Wilderness Dressing: Primal Forest. This week, we give you Monstrous Lair #63: Treant’s Grove and Monstrous Lair #64 Pixies’ Glade.

As a GM, I can’t wait to terrorise my players with a pixie glade. It could end up being a session like no other! I must admit, my dark heart exults at the possibilities!

Wandering the Bright Sands

This week, Brian Wiborg Mønster takes us into the desert with Wilderness Dressing: Desert (for 5e, OSR and Pathfinder 1). And Matt Morrow has done us another cracking illustration for the book. Thank you for helping make that possible. I love Matt’s art.

And for nostalgia’s sake, I picked the title of this post quite carefully. Care to guess why?

The Badly Named Index

This week, we’ve got another index for you. This time, we turn our fell gaze to the Dungeon Backdrop, Eventure and Mini-Eventure lines. This index presents all the entries to date in all three lines and breaks them down across a variety of rather handy categories to help you find the perfect instalment for your game.

This is a free product to everyone and as it is not yet up on DriveThru I’m struggling to come up with a better name for it—I have posted the normal and unplugged edi...

Visiting the Rekolas

In all the excitement last week I completely forgot to post your free and exclusive mini-eventure for the month. I apologise. Rest assured I have given myself a stern verbal warning!

In any event, please find June's Patreon exclusive mini-eventure attached to this post. If your characters need to visit a family of wizards living in a dilapidated, reputedly cursed mansion this mini-eventure is for you. And if the party don't need to visit the wizards, simply lure them there with rumours ...

Almost The End of an Era

This week, we release GM’s Miscellany: 20 Things VII. This is almost, but not quite, the end of the 20 Things era. We’ve got one more book left in the series—The Dread Thingonomicon—and the terrifying news is that all 476 pages of the book have got through their initial development cycle. Things move apace at Raging Swan Press!

In some ways, I’m tremendously sad to see the line end. But I’m looking forward to unleashing the Dread Thingonomicon into the worl...

A Lamia Riding a Manticore?

This would be a somewhat strange encounter and possible proof the GM is either drunk or running out of ideas. Or maybe both. Therefore, I recommend you don’t use these week’s releases at the same time. (But, if you do let me know how it goes!)

Behold: Monstrous Lair #61: Mantocore’s Lair and Monstrous Lair #62: Lamia’s Lair. I hope you can find a (better) use for them in your campaign.

Into the Primal Forest

This week, we dive into the wilderness with Wilderness Dressing: Primal Forest. Primal forests are the ancient, ethereal woodlands of the world in which the fey, the elves and all manner of strange plant creatures dwell. Ancient ruins, hidden caves and lost civilisations wait within for the adventurers brave enough to (re)discover them.

Check out this epic piece of art from Matt Morrow commissioned for the book. (Il love what that halfling is up to!)  I think it is another...

The End of (20) Things

All good things must come to an end, and the 20 Things line is a good thing.

But, Why?

I thought I’d explain why the line is ending. I’ve immensely enjoyed publishing the 20 Things books. Many entries in the line have saved my GMing bacon when my players have wandered “off piste” or shown unwarranted interest in a locale or random NPC. I love the feeling that it helps other GMs run better games for their friends! In theory, the line could go on forever. I love 20 Things!...

Failed Thievish Doings and an Index

This month, we have an updated 20 Things index for you and a very special 20 Things. (Well, a 20 Things I think you’ll enjoy reading—hopefully, it gives you some ideas about how to make the failures of the thieves in your campaign more fun!)

The 20 Things index now comprises all 73 of the 20 Things instalments, and I hope it gives you the tools to quickly and easily find the specific table or instalment you need.

Praying in (not Preying on) Dunstone

It’s a quiet week at Raging Swan Press this week. It’s one of those rare weeks in which we don’t release anything…except a free Patreon exclusive mini-eventure.

Praying at the Bastion of Peace is the penultimate mini-eventure set in Dunstone. In June, your characters will meet the Rekolas—and then it is off to Dulwich!

Where’s My Stuff

Mini-Eventure instalments are Patreon exclusives and so are not for sale anywhere. Thus, you’ll fin...

Eating & Ogres (Oh My)!

We have new Monstrous Lairs for you this week, and—even better—they are the first unplugged Monstrous Lairs we’ve published. I think the unplugged format makes particular sense with small supplements in which the covers, legal text and adverts can outweigh the content! Mini-Eventures also fall into this category in my opinion. (Feel free to agree or disagree with me in the comments!)

Over at Raging Swan Press's website, we have three new one-pagers for you. I've also uploaded them...

Sepulchre of the Wolf King

I’ve written an adventure! It’s only a short one, for 5th-level characters, but I think your players will “enjoy it”. Who wouldn’t want to explore the final resting place of the orc wolf king?

Sepulchre of the Wolf King is a short dungeon-based adventure. I wrote the adventure because I wanted to, but that wasn’t the only reason I wrote it. I’ve grown somewhat frustrated with module layouts of late. Perhaps I pick modules with bad layouts, but it seems to me recen...

Swampy Doings

I really like the title of this post.

Today, you get your hands on--Wilderness Dressing: Swamps for 5e, OSR and Pathfinder 1. It features another glorious full-page piece of artwork by Matt Morrow.

But, onto more important things:

The Quest for Convenience

Last week, I tried a new way of getting you your books, and it's blindingly obvious you didn't like it! So, I'll be moving back to the old system and retroactively issuing codes for last ...

Retribution is at Hand!

I am intensely excited by this week’s release. Retribution is at last at hand!
