Reward Tier Update, 'Real Talk'

Hey Patrons, I've rebranded the $3+ tier so it's more in line with what I've turned the behind-the-scenes segment into. So 'Real Talk' will be the weekly exclusive segment for the tier, where I have an informal discussion on a range of topics, as well as dig into any personal news.

There's also a number of people who have pledged more than $3 a month, so I'm brainstorming some extra content for a higher tier as well, and will update you once I've decided on something.

Hey everyone, I'm back from NYC and was keeping an eye on YouTube and Patreon while I was away. I'm so happy with all the support thrown my way over the weekend. Really means a lot, and shows me that there is indeed a path for me to continue pursuing this long-term as a viable career. Got a worldwide copyright block on this video on YouTube, so I'm giving it to $3+ Patrons. I use 2min of a Daily Show clip, which explains the block - but still, only Viacom is this strict. Commentary videos usually get by.

Hey, I figured I should maybe let you all into my life a little more to understand who exactly I am, and what I spend time doing when not on Rational National.

So the news video in the above link (which will play afters the ad) is me. I write/shoot/host/upload videos for ScreenRant.com and sister site CBR.com. Also, my videos aren't usually that depressing.

I enjoy doing it, but admittedly it's a way to pay the bills until I can be truly independent.

Patreon has been updated with a new look and new features - but the coolest features are still in invite-only beta. Built-in video, which ill use for behind-the-scenes and more exclusive video for patrons; Built-in live streaming which I'll love to use; And early-access content.

The issue with covering Canadian content

Canada has terrible copyright laws. If I use video from a Canadian source, it's practically inevitable that I won't earn revenue from it, and even worse, the entire revenue goes to the holder of the clip.

You can see the most recent video on Justin Trudeau has been demonized because the clip I use is from the CBC. It's an issue I haven't had with American or British content.

So today I have two videos going up; one on MSNBC beating Fox News in the weekly ratings for the first time ever, and the other on why "shills" (whether it's for the right or the left) are still employed and invited on cable news. I'm talking specifically about people that will defend someone no matter what - so the examples I use are Jeffrey Lord for Donald Trump and Neera Tanden for Hillary Clinton.
