Two or three

I posted this comic last Friday, but I started working on it about two weeks prior. And as is often the case, the idea for it had been floating around in my head for a few weeks before that. In October, while the trees were glowing in their autumnal prime, I was painting exclusively with black India ink, so naturally I was thinking about colour a lot.
My first thought was to have a bird talking about its favourite f...

That's it! The last one! Thank you so much for your suggestions! I can say with no doubt that this was my favourite inktober yet. I feel like I could keep going, but I would really appreciate a break too, haha.

Back to making new comics my friends! Birds will make their return next week! Happy Halloween!
Reference for those new to the franchise:

I'm about to share this 'comic' everywhere else. I'm not very tolerant of advertising, so it still sort of pains me to do it myself. I try to make it as fun as I can, I just hope that the people that are put off by it are in the minority!

I finished this last night but was too tired to upload. Only two more to go! I'm excited to do the magpie today.

"the hearts were supposed to be bats..."
🦇Merry Halloween everyone! 🦇
Falsetober (Great Grey Owl) will be coming up later tonight.

I think I love painting reptiles. I could've spent another hour or two detailing the scales but one must eat and give cats attention and not break one's neck! Only 3 more to go!

This one turned out differently from what I had imagined. I was initially going for the same jay repeated, but it looks to me like three standing in a row. I quite like the end result, but it's always different from the fuzzy picture I have in my mind.

I'm pretty sure in the Gozilla movie that came out in 1999 with Matthew Broderick, Godzilla was literally a marine iguana, right? Am I making that up?

I can't believe I'm 2/3 of the way through these! At the same time, I am very much looking forward to making more comics...

This is a Yucatàn Banded Gecko. I was inspired to paint it as a giant in Tikal after looking at photos I had taken on a backpacking trip through Central America 13 years ago!

This one was fun.
Also I made a comic! I'm running behind on these because my paintings are taking longer than I expected, but I will be posting another comic on Patreon later this week!

These little birds are so cute! Do any of you have a pet parrotlet?

This bird is pretty scary looking! I tried to make it look less so without making it look overly cartoonish, which is its second possible look.

Enhance!

I think I will upload my process vids onto youtube from now on so that they are easier to watch! (Most of these won't be filmed vertically like this one)

These penguins are so cute I had to paint about 9 of them.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday's painting here! From now on I will post them here first, about 15 minutes before everywhere else.
The time-lapse spans about 2-and-a-half hours that it took me to paint it. All totalled, I think it took me about 4 hours. If you really pay close attention right near the end you may see a familiar paw.

And here is yesterday's Brown Pelican:

I keep posting these later and later, haha. Ok! I'm going to try to paint earlier this week!

Happy (Canadian) Thanksgiving for those who celebrate! Ours was pretty quiet, apart from the family video chat. I hope everyone had a good weekend! It was quite warm here. And now for the falsetober paintings:
Indian Roller

Gouldian Finch

This was a fun one! I had never heard of them before, and they're pretty unique it seems! I encourage you to watch some videos on youtube. My favourite fact is that they smell really bad and don't move around much.

I was inspired today to use a different size of paper than what I usually do! This one is a very long rectangle 4"x8" (10cm x 20cm), which gives you a chance to capture a lot of different planes! I think I will definitely revisit this paper a couple more times this month.
Here's a little doodle of how I planned this one out:
And here's a gif of the whole painting in time-lapse (patreon doesn't s...
