Nobody's Love

If there's ever been a band that has developed over the years, I'd say its maroon 5, with more and more solid music. I continue to like their sound. This week I did one of their recent songs 'Nobody's Love'.

I sort of missed this one for the first couple of months.  It's been out for a while, al trending and hyped in the hit lists, and super coverable (I think I could do 1 hour of variations on this theme alone). As I  listened to it this week in the supermarket,  it hit me like a good idea, let's do this one this week. This one is both new and a little bit of an experiment, so please be gentle :) The song is both extremely catchy and repetitive, so that makes for a fun flow of chords and notes if you can sort of 'chain them together'. I've tried to do exactly that, but it also became a bit chaotic. Hope you still like it. If not, I'll return to normal mode after this again. Enjoy!

This one was on multiple requests, and I actually did not think it would have been that hard, but the dominance of Beyonce's voice sort of identify the whole song. Red Hot Chili Peppers

Hi dear Patrons, 

Red Hot Chili Peppers, have made so many songs I like, that its almost impossible to pinpoint one or two that stand out. Maybe its Californication (that was also the name of the album on which this song was featured) but this one stands out as well. Road Trippin is such a simple song, and it is according to wiki one of the only songs that does not include drums in it. Almost a guitarish ballad then :). The song for this week is one that I thought was done by Ronan Keating, but was actually the third one to perform that song. John Legend - This Time

Hi patrons, 

As you probably know by now, I am a big admirer of John Legend. The guy seems to have his life in pretty awesome shape, and he's a super talented songwriter. In addition he also sings very well and oh yeah plays the piano (probably a lot better than me). Very admirable indeed :). Up to me then the good task to cover as much songs as I can, they are all very musical and very piano friendly, for obvious reasons.

Amy Winehouse - Yes I tried

Hi Patrons, 

Maybe you've read the description in the YouTube upload, but this week was a tough one. I'm a huge Amy Winehouse fan, and I truly believe she was (or could have been/become) a  one in a generation type of artist. With such talent, sensitivity and great songs, it's a shame she's gone before we got to hear more). At the same time, her jazzy style makes it really difficult for me to cover her songs. I had a try at this one, but somehow it always keeps feeling awkward...

One of my favorite songs this week. 

I find this song fascinating for many reasons. Normally I am much more of a melody than a text person (you'd figure, or else I'd have a lyrics channel...) , but for this one the text really stands out. It's actually a tribute to Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. The references to his paintings, and his struggle with insanity is very well captured in the lyrics. The melody sort of guides it along to the end carrying the same...

An old classic and a Chinese cover for an unusual week

An old classic (Tony Rich), and a cover of a cover (inception..) of a very popular Chinese song (justifiably so, good song), both requested. I love doing all time great songs or new hits, but sometimes its just as fun if you're remembered (or pointed to) a song through others. A classic this week from my side. I'm currently  going through a playlist which is called top 2000, an end of year hit list with the greatest songs ever. This Spotify list also gives a LOT of inspiration for future songs... I think I have some work to do still. For example, cover ALL the Beatles songs... or the stones.
