One of my favorite things to draw is Rosie’s poofy sleeves. Pro-tip: vary your ink width to suggest softness. I mean, I still prefer to draw Rosie’s boobs, but poofy sleeves are an underrated pleasure.

December’s just been a clusterfuck. Daughter wrecked a car. Wife and middle son got pneumonia. Then holidays, then oldest had a mental health crisis, then I got sick. Turns out, stress isn’t good for the ol’ immune system.
Anyway, this is all I’ve got for December— apologies. Hoping the New Year goes better— for all of you, as well. I know I’ll be animating a crab, and mermaid hair, and throwing some color on this cursed animation come January.

Ariel WIP #5

Not totally happy with the body language yet, and the right arm appearing out of nowhere obviously will be further animated (will be holding up her seashell bra). And I have to add Sebastian peaking out of her hair on her back/shoulder when she’s giving side-eye. This is more “proof of life“ than anything. But I do like the boogie jiggle and smile at the end.

I dunno… I think I’m gonna abandon the last part where her top falls off, and try a different way. I want something more expressive and smooth, like in this brief Chel animation, and it;s too disjointed, stiff. But I don’t want you guys to think I’m slacking… and I’m not trying to be a perfectionist. It’s just that I should be improving, and this… ain’t it yet.
