Giving away 5 Unisolder 5.2 boards

Got into a little bit of panic, because I promised to finish this SLA printer video by 28. Oct ... it's almost like friends birthdays for which you have an entire year to prepare but then they still manage to happen suddenly 😓

Anyways, you know the rules: There are none. Write whatever gets you peoples hearts and the top 5 win a board on Sunday.

Second multimeter video with corrections

You may have already seen most of this. I have included a statement from Brymen at 3:09 and improved a few minor things especially after 6:10 and 7:25.

It's suprisingly hard to make the new mic sound good, it picks up way too many unwanted details like the neighbors lawnmower or my own mouth-sounds. You can hear it at the aforementioned corrected times. Maybe I'm just going back to the USB cheapo that sacrifices quality for just better sound?

New mic, same sound 🤷

Split the multimeter video into 2

Brymens manual soldering is still under investigation, so I've taken the BG one only and added another product to round it off. New stuff starts at around 4:05 min

First CO2 laser test fire

Getting the super cheap 40W Chinese laser machine is probably the best starting point for a good machine. Tediously accumulating individual parts is neither cheap nor fast

Multimeter medley

Edit: Third revision - I am happy now with a few small corrections. Welectron hinted that the ugly manual soldering is unusual, I am still mentioning it, but shorter and with an optimistic connotation.

Just a draft, I think this one may be a little bit too fast for everyone to keep up. That and a few references to older videos, which nobody remembers ... I should not be editing in the middle of the night :)

Anyone member my suggestion to Elektor?

Made a post about that around March:

Also: Neat little high CRI video light from BG

Also: Multimeter medley later today or tonight

DIY servo motors for the laser machine

Found a particularly nice NEMA-brushless-motor on eBay:  57BLF03

It's delivered with hall effect sensors, which are no good for precision motion control. The short shaft stub is not quite enough for proper mounting of a CUI AMT102-V encoder, so I had to 3D print a new adapter. The 'encoder-covoer' doesn't quite fit the CUI either, but it's optional.

The motors have a higher phase resistance than RC hobby BLDCs, so ODrive needs a few extra settings to accept them, in...

What about daily posts?

Thank you all so much for staying or joining :)

I've received a few complaints about the posting of unedited videos. People got the impression that I just lovelessly dump footage and forget about it. My intention is to make a small, mildly interesting post semi-daily, sort of a better twitter. You'll see a lot more from that standard cell enclosure aka mahogany oven!

What do you think about that`? Did I spam too much boring stuff recently and forced everyone to unsubscribe from Patreon e...

Predecessor of the LTZ1000

Not quite as compact, but a few more independent voltage references AND a lot of unpopulated spots in this beast. It's basically a precision oven, that tries to stay at 30 +/-0.1 °C to keep the weston cells happy. It needs a proper restoration tho, I've already found 1 electrolytic cap from 1986 ðŸ˜…

The 3 comments with the most likes by next Sunday win. Please participate in the vote, if there is a draw, we'll have to go with a judgment a la Solomon

Ultra stable voltage reference + Maker Faire

I am getting moo metal today, will post about that later!

View Post

I may have been snakeoiled

Back in the days â„¢ mu metal ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mu-metal ) has been applied to oscilloscope display tubes so that their magnetic fields would not interfere with the sensitive circuitry. Mu metal is solderable, so I thought I'd solder a hermetically sealed and EMF proof enclosure for my LTZ1000A voltage reference. The power supply and voltage output could be fed through the hermetic barrier with hermetic ...

My first FPGA steps with a Xilinx Zynq

So this thing is supposed to become my OSMU controller? I am not quite convinced yet and am hoping to see some suggestions from smarter people in the comments :)

They didn't expect the LTZ1000

So the Schlumberger Solartron 7081 can only be calibrated via GPIB commands which neither me nor the Maker Faire stand had at hand, so we could only measure the voltage reference for now.

But one of the gentlemen from the  https://www.ptb.de recognized me, so maybe they would agree to a more personal video with a tour of their treasury etc ... they are in Brunswick, half an hour from me :)

Not particularly thrilled to see another one of these

The waveform display is no longer AC coupled, which makes it a little bit better. No more transistor tester and a slimmer body. Slow DMM sample rate, but attractive display.

They decided to keep the 1000V rating tho, so we can at least make fun of it ...

Made a curing bucket too ...

I'd like to get rid of the remaining red resin, so if anyone needs small precise prints, leave some details in the comments, I'll message you if I have capacity.

By popular demand I've also made a 'dont-miss' tag for patreon posts with good quality.
