Scraps - Restless Recovery

“Okay, I’ve got some water on the table here and your pills and…” Casey drawled before she held up a worn paperback novel with a dark skinned swordsman on the front, his face the picture of fierce determination, “something to get your mind off the pain.”

I looked up at her with nothing but gratitude, my pathetic eyes shining I’m sure, before saying, “You’re too good to me.”

“Maybe,” Casey replied with a cheeky smile before dropping a kiss to the bangs of my...

Blitz - Chapter Thirteen

Well hello boys and girls, it's that time again!

I feel like this is the chapter that we've all been waiting for. If you've been trudging through this stop and go release of chapters -- bless you, by the way -- then you know the level of irritating angst that Trent brings to the table. Well, in this chapter we get to shine a bit of light on why Trent is the way that he is finally.

There was a lot of myself that I put into this one, particularly Trent's relationship with his family...

Blitz - Chapter Twelve

So instead of talking about my exhausting writing/editing journey on this chapter, I have a bit of a story, just for the fun of it.

Recently I told my girlfriend a story about the first romance novel I ever read, back when I was thirteen or so -- I believed I mentioned this in my post about how I got started writing what I do. Anyways, I talked a bit more about how this book affected me to her and got this itch to read it again after like fifteen years or something.

Now, I h...

Scraps - The Purge

It was just last Tuesday that I realized it was time again.

The thought first popped up when I was going through the foyer closet looking for some of my tools. Instead, I found a pile of skateboarding wheels and extra ball bearings. I closed my eyes and huffed out a breath before calling out loudly to my wife.

“Lil! Come here!”

A few moments later she shuffled in from the living room with a curious face. “Hm?”

“What's all this?” I a...

Blitz - Chapter Eleven

Well, after about seventeen million edits -- and at least one huge fight with my editor where we may or may not have talked about divorce papers -- I have finally brought you the new chapter of Blitz. I should probably put a big fat NSFW warning on this one because it needs it. Things get a little messy in this chapter, if you know what I mean.

Also, I completely went through every single post -- and to my surprise there was like a hundred or so, I was a little impressed -- and revamped...

Scraps - Fringe Benefits

“Remind me why we’re here again?” I groaned next to Ollie, my manager, as we made our way into an enormous Barnes and Noble somewhere in the middle of Boston.

“You know the drill,” Ollie muttered as his eyes scanned the stack of pages in his left hand, while his right rubbed the rough gray stubble along his chin. “Bigger venue, bigger chance to expand your fanbase. And more people means-”

“More money,” I grumbled in time with Ollie, a mocking bob of my head...

Update - 7/28/19

So it's been a little and after getting constantly pestered by my editor, I've finally decided to make a post. I personally hate doing this when I have nothing to offer. I feel as this is a very quid pro quo sort of situation I've found myself in and without anything to offer, I don't have much to say. It feels as if I'm sort of lacking as a creator actually, which generally feels very unfair -- especially given the current scenario I'm in.

For the last few weeks I actually haven't had...

Scraps - Twice the Fun

“So… two?” Rebecca asked with a baffled face. Her wife, Emily, shared a similar expression while Evie, their longtime mutual friend -- and surrogate mother of their child -- nodded enthusiastically.

“Yeah!” Evie remarked loudly, her voice full of authentic excitement. “Twin boys! Can you believe it?” She sighed, almost wistfully, before chuckling to herself. “Oh, this is going to be so much different than it was with Bree.”

“That’s all well and good,”...

Scraps - Morning Breath

Sometimes I really hated mornings. Not like most people did, I suppose. I had no problem waking up and getting going. Or being alert and on top of things and just generally aware, for that matter.

In fact, that's exactly where my problem laid; that I was awake.

For as long as I could remember I had gone to sleep and woken up so routinely -- for work, school, my own obsessive scheduling, what have you --that my internal clock had no idea what sleeping in even w...

Blitz - Chapter Ten

Well, boys and girls, we've finally hit the halfway point. It sure seems like a long time coming to get here and really it's only just the beginning. This book at it's halfway mark is longer than any of my previous books clocking in at about 80k words already and well over 200 pages. It's fit to be a monster.

Blitz has a habit of growing unexpectedly. In fact, when I started this particular chapter it was only about 17 pages and by the end of it, the thing capped out at 31. I don't even...

Scraps - A Life Worth Living

If there was one thing that Emily Frazier was absolutely sure of, it was that she never wanted children. They were gross and smelly and caused all kinds of messes everywhere. Not to mention how much it cost to raise one of those things. Diapers alone were outrageously priced.

That was before though. A different life than she was leading now. Before she met Rebecca, before she became Emily Knox, and much, much further before the tiny boys that were her whole heart.  View Post

Scraps - Keep the Change

“Uh-uh! Nope!” I said loudly and waved my hands in front of me. “I am not going to see some sappy, tear jerking chick flick.”

Jackson nodded in agreement behind me. “No way, no how.”

“Oh, come on, guys!” Sara said with a flap of her hands.

“Yeah. We’ve been at this for almost twenty minutes already,” Katie sighed and slumped against the rear bumper of my car. “And who are you to bash on chick flicks, Lil? You love them....

Scraps - Technical Knockout

I really figured she was going to like it.

I don’t know why. She had always been brutally honest in regards to my work. If there was ever a person that refused to sugarcoat or play with kids gloves though, it was Lilah.

To be fair, I probably didn’t approach it in the best of ways. My lack of confidence in something had never inspired confidence in me from Lilah. She wasn’t mean or anything, she was just honest. Sometimes honesty came in a tiny, brutal, cutthroat...

Scraps - Driver's Ed

“That’s a wall.”

“Fucking… Stupid…”

“That’s a tree,” Jules pointed out unhelpfully as I rode straight off the wall and into the trunk of a tree.

“Yeah, I know,” I grunted out. “Goddammit…”

“Mm,” Jules hummed, not even hiding the humor in her voice now. “That’s another wall.”

“I know!” I groaned and jerked my body to the left in hopes that the driver on screen would follow my movement. He did not.

Scraps - Burn Unit

I had no idea what I was stepping into when I came home.

It wasn’t too unusual for Evie to be irritated with something -- her job, Bree, myself, whatever -- so I didn’t think too much when I heard her speaking through gritted teeth to someone on the phone. A few suspicions were raised when she slammed her fists on the counter and grumbled, seemingly to herself. I wasn't absolutely sure that there was something wrong until she breezed past me on her way out of the kitchen and up th...

Blitz - Chapter Nine

This chapter should have been out a week ago, funny how life gets away from you sometimes. My editor has had the craziest schedule and I've been throwing all of my time in a million different directions. Eh. Cest le Vie.

You should be happy to hear that I'm well into the next chapter though and I'll have a little surprise on the way pretty soon for any of you at the Jessie (or higher) tiers. So keep posted and as always, happy reading!

Blitz - Chapter Eight

Well, I tried to post this yesterday but for whatever reason it didn't work, so here we go again. Like I said yesterday, I'm more tired than anything so there's not a whole lot for me to really say about this chapter -- not because it's not good, but because of the sleeps. I mentioned how I had stayed up all day yesterday writing a pretty smutty drabble that fits in after this chapter so if everything goes well, you might be seeing that in the near future also. Exciting. And now...

Scraps - Trouble in Paradise

“Sometimes she just drives me up a damn wall, you know?” I muttered and ran my thumb around the rim of the long neck bottle in my hand. “And what makes it worse is that everyone loves her! It's not like I can say a negative thing about Alex at all. She's miss fucking sunshine, right?”

I sighed and ran a hand through my long, auburn locks before letting my head fall back against the cool, marble of Lilah’s tombstone. To be honest, I had no idea where else to go after the fight ...

Blitz - Chapter Seven

This story is just running out at this point. Like, damn. I can barely keep up with the writing, editing, juggling ideas and outlining. It's pretty freaking amazing though.

So happy that a bunch of you have told me how much you've been enjoying Blitz. Honestly, It's gotten me down a bit that so many people have left Patreon since I started this story but it's alright, they obviously don't get what I'm trying to do here. For the rest of you that do though, please have fun with Tren...

Character Poll Wrap Up

First off, you guys are awesome. Have I told you that lately? Because you are. You're super awesome and thank you for participating in my recent poll. It was a really eye opening experience to see how certain characters have really affected you. So instead of what I was originally going to do, talking about my favorite underrated character, I'm going to talk about why I think all of the characters included are underrated in their own right.

Blitz - Chapter Six

Alright, guys, new chapter time! This one should be a nice break from the typical doom and gloom that this story has brought so far, personally I had a lot of fun on it. So much actually that I'm already tearing through chapter seven. Hooray!

Also, you can thank my girlfriend for getting this one out early. I just wanted to watch the Goofy Movie but she wouldn't shut up until I posted it, so here you go.

Underrated Characters

So I was having a discussion a bit ago about some of my kids -- my characters, for anyone that's new -- and I started bringing up a lot of points about one of my mains that's popular but in my opinion, highly underrated. It got me thinking about some of my other characters that are kind of underrated for one reason or another, so now I'm asking you, who do you think is the most underrated, underappreciated or undeserved? Vote -- and if you want to comment -- at the end of the week I'll share ...

Poll Results

You guys couldn't just pick a clear winner could you? Well, even though it ended in a three way tie, my editor and I are at least happy to see that both of our favorite chapters were picked. Hers was two and mine was four.

I did say that I would talk a bit about that, didn't I? Mostly I loved chapter four because it's where we start to see the movement in Trent for the better. Making decisions that aren't so selfish or cowardly or just plain bitchy and instead starting to really form as...

Blitz Chapter Poll

Okay, so because Blitz has officially hit its one quarter mark -- I think I mentioned that in a previous post, right? If not, yay, we're a quarter through. Anyways, since I hit this landmark, the editor and I spent the weekend going through all of the previous chapters I've wrote thus far in preparation of what's next.

This was awesome for two reasons. First, it gave me a lot of good ideas on how to carry out my plans for this story and keep all my duckies in a nice row. It also r...

Scraps - Unusual Check-Up

I had no idea way I was upset in the first place. It’s not like I ever had anyone with me on these appointments. Especially not him. Not once in seven months. Then again, maybe it was just because it was all becoming real now.

It’s real all right. Getting fat. Fucking mood swings. Stupid cravings. And I’m getting fat.

Really though, it was only after the gender reveal that everything actually became real. Once I found out that I was carrying ...

Blitz - Chapter Five

I'm starting to think that each one of these chapters gets harder than the last. They seem to make me a little more insane each time, swear to God. I mean this one? Almost double the size of my normal chapter and I wrote it in the same amount of time somehow, so editing was... hell. Then again, can you really call yourself an artist if you're not going at least slightly crazy?

On another note, this is officially the one quarter mark of this gigantic, mammoth of a novel and I could not b...

Scraps - The Overdue Funeral

“It's the end of an era,” I sighed sadly before casting my eyes at the frayed, torn, muddied and overall beaten up red high tops that I had worn for years.

These shoes had traveled a lot of miles with me, seen a lot of ground and lived a lot of life. Truth be told, holding them in my hands like this, with the intent of throwing them out for good, actually got me kind of bummed out. It was like saying goodbye to an old friend forever.

“About damn time too,” Lil scoffe...

Blitz and My Journey

So, I was recently having a conversation with my freaking crazy amazing girlfriend/editor -- and by recent I mean at least a month ago because I am the slowest moving sloth when it comes to accepting and especially adapting and implementing new ideas to my life. Anyways, We were talking about what I'm trying to do, right? My dream, I guess you could say. Which is a pretty common topic between us since we essentially work together toward it. I'm not gonna get into all t...

Blitz - Chapter Four

Well, it's taken a little more effort than usual but here we go, the next chapter of Blitz. Not gonna lie, this was a bit of a pain to complete since I'm pretty much doing everything on my phone right now, which, if you don't know, is a tedious process that is a pain in my ass.
Especially in the case of formatting.
It was really important for me to get this chapter out this week though. Granted, it's Saturday and I never post on the weekends (generally) but things are taking a lit...

Scraps - Night Secrets

Being who I was put me in an interesting position to observe them; and they were most certainly worth observing for an enthusiast people watcher, such as myself.

Despite her beliefs, Zoe was the easier of the two to peg. You could literally see her walls if you looked hard enough and sometimes I even thought I caught fog coming off of her breath by how cold she made herself on purpose. It was all a ruse though. Zoe was quite warm and affectionate given the right setting, charming certa...
