Sometimes things get changed around a lot from thumb to sketch, but I knew I had to stay faithful to that thumb of Alexander in the third panel, I happened to hit gold the first time around and it was just too good to change lol

Just the sketch this time, since this page didn't actually have a thumbnail! Originally, the first page was supposed to have the chapter and title on it, but I always liked the thought of giving the chapter title a full page. I like how this one turned out! Going forward, I want try making these pages a lil more conceptual perhaps, like a proper cover y'know?

Backgrounds are always the hardest part to draw, but interiors especially are a major pain! The only way to improve is to just do it though, so it's worth it in the end lol

Finishing the last page in a chapter feels SO good, it makes me wanna party or something 🥳

This is a page that got a pretty major overhaul! I knew the effect I wanted, but my initial draft (the last picture) just lacked impact. I knew I had to make it punchy and dramatic and it just wasn't cutting it! I had to start over and this time I got rid of any inhibitions, if I didn't know how to pull off my idea in Clip Studio then I'd figure it out. I think it turned out really well!

This is a page that changed a LOT from the thumbnailing phase, this page and the next one for sure. I knew how they would play out, I just needed to flesh it out lmao. There were writing details I was ironing out up until I finished the page! It's a dangerous game sometimes!

Fun Fact: This page is where I arrived at a better way to draw Alexander's head! It just feels more.... dimensional, y'know?

Also I can't remember what my original plans from the thumbnails were, but I feel like I for sure made an improvement upon it lol

I'm... genuinely puzzled at how Alexander's head wound up so far removed from his body in the 6th panel. What a mystery!

This page was a tricky one! Drawing up the page directly as it was in the thumbnails, it turned out way too dry. I needed to give it another go and get a bit creative with the layout. Doing so really helped open it up and made it feel more like a real page lol. Turns out drawing a comic will teach you a lot of lessons!

Here you can see how the past couple pages have been pieced together, and even a page from the future (exclusive sneak peek: Alexander talks to Min lmao)! Comics are an evolving process, and it's tough sometimes, but it is fun to try figuring out how best to organize information.

This is another weird one, I didn't actually thumbnail this page during the thumbnailing phase, but after grandfathering in the previous page I needed something to follow it up with. So this page, and most of the next page even were a rather on-the-fly addition. I think it pays off though, I enjoy drawing Alexander in that little outfit lol

OKAY THIS ONE'S A DOOZY!! In the thumbnail phase, this was actually two pages and they had a MUCH different vibe lmao! I've been working on this project for a long time, so there's character beats and backstory that I'm eager to get to, but I got WAY ahead of myself when I was drawing up the thumbs. It occurred to me later that introducing such heavy pathos like, 8 pages in would feel REALLY unearned and give the reader tonal whiplash, so I refocused the goal of this page to set up something ...

This one stayed a little more faithful to the thumbnails. Looking back though, I DO kinda wish I kept the glass in Colette's hand in the last panel of the sketch pass lmao!

You can still see the remnants of when the setting hadn't yet taken its final form here. There's also been a number of little changes from the first pass to the final page, one of the biggest being the distance between Alexander and this VeRy MyStErIoUs new arrival, I felt it would be more important that they're not necessarily aware of each other right off the bat. You will be seeing more of her soon!

These are the thumbs for the first five pages of Sky Sea Saga! You might notice that the setting went through some changes between the thumbnailing stage to now. It was indeed kind of a late game decision to change the setting to a world of floating islands! After a lot of thought, that kind of world just sparked more joy in me!

As you might guess from page 3's sketches, it gave me a lot of trouble! This comic stuff is no joke, I tell ya!

Sooooo I got a website~ I got it set up for a comic~ It's gonna be launching soon~

You guys get a sneak peek! Please poke around a bit! It's a little bare bones at the moment (in no small part due to the fact that I'm pretty inexperienced at coding lol) but I'm excited to get this thing running! Terrified too! But mostly excited!

First up, I was really happy with how Pixel's body shape turned out in this first sketch! Feels like I've arrived at the shape I've been kinda aiming at for a while now! You can also see me trying to figure it out in the second page lol.

The Cillian drawing took a while for me to figure out! Lot's of layers with a lot of conflicting views lmao

Stray Cat was pretty straightforward, but I'm always excited to get a chance to draw some sneakers again! They can be challenging!
