Demo will be available 9/30

Hi guys!


I'm here to announce that the first playable demo I promised will be available for download 9/30!

It will have Shinsuke and Jake playable with more polished sprites.  I will post another update with a download link on the 30th so be on the lookout : )

Announcement - Playable Demo!

Hey guys!


I would like to make an announcement with regards to a pre-alpha demo.  I think I should be able to deliver a playable demo within a week or two.  The demo will have Shinsuke and Jake with fully polished (90%-100%) sprites.

Demo delayed for a week - Details on the V00 demo

Hey guys,

 

First of all, sorry I have to update you with a bit of bad news.  V00 demo is almost ready, but I made a last minute decision to add more extensive input manager.  This is so that you can customize button mappings more easily.

Updated Character Select

Here's an updated character select screen with more character idle stance animations.

Here I have also applied a CRT filter to achieve a more old school look. This filter can be turned on and off from the game settings in the released game.

Character No 2 for the very first playable demo

For the first playable demo, Shinsuke and Jake are the two characters that will be available.

Hey guys,


  At the moment, I'm working on things like, animation(never ending), game modifications and coding to achieve pixel perfectness, and... a new UI.

  I have been meaning to re-work the preexisting UI, and since it's 2019 and all, I thought I'd work on something new :)

  Hope you like the new look, although it is still a work-in-progress.

It's official. Blazing Strike is coming to Nintendo Switch!!

Hey guys,

  

  Just wanted to let you know that Blazing Strike has been approved for a release on Nintendo Switch :) I am very excited to share this news, as I have always thought Nintendo Switch is an awesome gaming console for PvP type of games, including classic fighting games like Blazing Strike.


 I am waiting for the dev kit to be shipped, so I will update you once I receive it.  Hopefully I'll be able to show some gameplay on it...

My first working netcode!

Dev Update - Netcode

 Sorry I've been silent for a while.  I am working hard on Blazing Strike, but mostly not related to artwork these days.  As the image suggests, I have started working on netcode and am currently experimenting with number of them, including GGPO.

 I have always thought GGPO would be the best netcode solution for Blazing Strike, but after getting in touch with the creator (it was pretty hard to get in contact with him btw), I have com to know that the cost of its lice...

Added and fixed number of things here.

- hit stop tweak and bug fix

- overall gameplay speed update closer to final version

- camera tweak

- more sprite cleanups


and minor fixes here and there.

Some of Alexander's rough animations

Recently on Twitter, people have commented good thing about Alexander.  I thought that was cool because even though he is one of my favorites, I honestly didn't think others would feel the same :) that was somewhat an amazing experience.

2 Additional Characters!

Say hello to Alexander (far left) and Hana (far right). Just got done with these two and wanted to share a group picture with you guys :)

I explain each characters in detail on the other post, but basically Alexander is and ex-wrestler who lives a hermit life, and Hana is a female yakuza oyabun who can cut you in a blink.

Graffy's WIP standing normal attacks

Graffy is the first character I created as a 3D model when I first started working on Blazing Strike, and now I'm in the process of recreating his animations in 2D pixel art.  

I initially had plans to plainly trace the rendered sprites of the 3D model, but when I started working on his basic pose in pixel form, I realized I just couldn't forego some of the flaws I saw in his 3D model version. :P

Shinsuke (our first sprite based character) being implemented in the game :)

With the new sprite look and 2D animation, the gameplay feels much better than before.  And implementing the sprites into the game is pretty simple :) Good thing I spent some time architecting the engine to make things more component based (finally paying off..!!)
