Year-end Recaps

I hope you have an excellent 2018. For me, 2017 would've been way more difficult if not for you, so thank you. Despite the technical obstacles presented by YouTube, the channel kept growing. Still, I got a lot of messages from people who thought I stopped making videos, because they weren't getting them in their feeds on YouTube. So, I made these recaps to encourage them to check out my material from this year. One is for comedy and the other for drama. These are not patron supported, and you've...

Patreon:

Thanks, everyone, for your support and advice.

Patreon has decided not to change its payment method, so it will be the same as always.

If you'd like to check out a collab I did with another YouTuber, Logicked, here's a link (I'm pretty happy with how it turned out):

Title Suggestions?

These are some screenshots of the setting I created for my next animation (a relatively late partial version of the script can be found a couple posts ago here on Patreon). I tentatively called it "The Alt Apostle" yet even Christian conservatives shy away from the Alt Right, despite holding many of their views. So, I thought about calling it "The Christian Conservative Apostle" or "The Evangelical Apostle" or maybe even "The Party of Jesus Meets Jesus"...something like that. Any suggestions? I ...

Another DarkMatter2525 Evolution

I’m always experimenting. I want to know how to make something better and/or more efficient. The screenshot above is the result of such experimentation. For my past animations, I used dedicated animation software to build scenes, place virtual cameras, and then let hours of rendering take place in the background. In the scene above, however, I used a video game engine. I purchased an engine that allows commercial use. I built the scene using a terrain heightmap, raising and lowering as I saw f...

The Alt Apostle

For the next animation, I've been working on the script and the scenery. I'm not sure how to begin nor how to end the video. So, I'm posting the main bulk of the script here in hopes that you'll give me some insight. For the beginning, I need to convey that the attitude of a modern right wing Christian, or alt right type figure, was transferred into one of Jesus' apostles, or a 13th apostle, an "alt apostle". All of Jesus' lines are referenced from the bible, and the alt apostle hates every one ...

God is Punishing Us!

Here's my latest animation. The advertising on it was limited, even after a manual review, before I made it public (it was actually uploaded last night, but just now made public), so your support of my channel is so appreciated. YOU are how I'm able to keep doing this.

If you're interested in another video I made about why stigmatizing atheists is so incredibly foolish, you can check that out on my other channel (I don't upload much to that channel, but sometimes I do when I have something tha...

New Animation on Tuesday

I think I'll be able to upload the new video by Tuesday evening. I've been getting requests for God & Jeffery, and this one will deliver. After that, I might begin work on another comedic cartoon idea I had, which I dubbed "The American Apostle" wherein Jesus has a 13th apostle, an American back in time, who disagrees with Jesus about everything (turn the other cheek, don't pray in public, etc). It's pretty much based on pointing out hypocrisy.

Disaster Sneak Peek

This is just a little snippet from my next animation. This sneak peek is meant for patrons only, but I honesty don't mind if you want to share it.

Natural Disaster Punishment

What if a tornado chased around an evil person, but didn't harm anyone else? We're told to believe that God uses natural disasters as punishment, yet most of the death and damage happens to believers and other good people. Why would an omnipotent benevolent God use a hurricane or an earthquake instead of a very focused tornado, or a lightning bolt? Would a benevolent being use a nuke that kills many innocents, or a drone strike that would kill only the bad guy?

Pat Robertson Guest Appearance

Pat will be in my next cartoon. God goes on vacation and leaves Jeffery in charge, but first, God trains Jeffery in the ways of proper natural disaster technique to punish people, so that the transition of power is seamless. Pat is able to detect a change in "God's" ways.

A Devil's Justice

I’ve been wanting to make a story-line like this for a while now. I hope you’ll notice my usage of color in the different realms, designed to tie them together and contrast them with the dramatic shift at the end, all symbolic. Even the title has a dual meaning. The part about feeling rewarded when we punish others is not science fiction. I think this fact, given the nature of our history and our religions, speaks volumes.

I’m pleased with this one, and I hope you will be too. It was ton...

On the run

In this scene, Lucy runs while dozens of demons reach up from below. There's so much to draw, animate, and render in a scene like this that it could easily take a day just for this 10 seconds of animation. From back to front is the mountain layer, Lucy layers (about 30 for her alone), rock layer, tree layer, and then the demon layers. Each layer moves separately to give the illusion of depth as the camera moves (the layers further back move the least and different levels of focus help with this ...

Current work

Because I don't have any comedy ideas fleshed out, but I do have the ideas for and desire to continue Power Corrupts, I decided to direct my work that way, or I'd be wasting too much time with writer's block (though I will certainly keep thinking about comedy and writing what I can). So, I've been doing a lot of designing, drawing, and rendering for that animation.

What you see in this tentative image is Jeffery landing at the outskirts of the city completely controlled by Yahweh. Jeffer...

The Devil's Savior

Due to the seriousness of my last video, I figured I'd go back to my comedic cartoon roots, but I was actually more inspired to finish up the writing on the first episode of season two of Power Corrupts, which is contemplative in narration, but visually full of action. So, that is a story ready to be animated.

I could always hold off on that first episode until November and save October for a more lighthearted animation. What do you think?

The Theft of Our Values

Upon what is so-called "Western civilization" based? What is a threat to  it? What is not? We have been raised to believe that the very ideology  that fought against Western values and advancements is actually responsible for them. Stop believing that lie.

You may be tempted to only listen to this video, and not watch it (as  would I), but I hope you'll actually watch it too, because it has a lot of good visual information that would've made the video much longer if it had been ...

I was in Irma's eye

It was scary. The center of the eye traveled through a field near my house, about a 10 minute walk away. Irma hit us most strongly during the night, which left all those scary noises to the imagination. I wasn’t sure how well the house would hold up, but it did just fine. My house is surrounded by woods, and I wasn’t sure if that would help mitigate wind damage, or hurt with falling trees. It helped. Lots of lone trees in the area fell, but the ones in the woods fared much better. Some water...

Last message for a while

Winds are picking up and I'll start to get some outer bands soon, so I'm logging off. We should lose power tomorrow. There's no getting out. All the gas had been sold out for a while now and everyone caught in traffic jams is going to be stranded on the road. At least I'm at home, where I still have plenty of supplies. I hate this. Thank you, everyone, for all you've done for me. As soon as I am able, I will let you know what happened.

Irma

I'm currently in Irma's path, which is the most powerful hurricane ever recorded. It's basically a giant tornado. So, I might not be able to finish an animation this month, but I still might be able to do it like everyone else, with actual video. I've been writing and researching for my video on how people give religion way too much credit for our civilization. I'll be delving into history to show the real reasons for our advances, and how religion has stolen the credit. This has been on my mind...

The Most Censored Bible Chapter

Finally, I posted the first comedic animation I’ve made in a few months. I was very sick during half the production of this cartoon, which I used to my advantage for sake of variety when doing the voices. I had to wait until I was better to do God and Jeffery’s dialogue, but I did Judah’s voice while I was sick, and you can certainly hear it.

Thanks, everyone, for supporting the channel through these uncertain times on youtube. Hopefully it gets better there. I’m not sure if I’ll hav...

The Omission of Genesis 38

I own a lot of books about the bible, from illustrated youth bibles, to advanced apologetics, which help me understand different interpretations and explanations, so that I can see if my contentions have already been answered, and if I can refute those answers. When checking my youth bibles, I noticed that they both go from Genesis 37 to Genesis 39, as if 38 doesn't exist. These bibles are often hilariously dismissive of atrocities, but not even they could figure out how to illustrate Genesis 38...

Back to Comedy

As I've done three serious videos in a row, I decided to hold off on the next dramatic video and work on something funny. I finished a script for an old fashioned God & Jeffery bible cartoon. This time, it will be Genesis 38, the story of how God killed Judah's sons, and then Judah's widowed daughter-in-law tricks Judah into impregnating her with Jesus' 38th great grandfather by pretending to be a hooker who accepts a goat as payment for sex. What a wholesome story for the whole family! This...

Abuser

I’ve been wanting to make an animation like this for a long time. The first man’s anger is obvious and harsh. His abuse is clear. I specifically chose a piano solo of Gymnopedie during his tirade to represent how his abuse is singular and private, hidden behind closed doors. Though he is essentially saying the same thing, the minister’s tone is kind and inviting. For his part, I used the professional mic. I chose an orchestral version of Gymnopedie to represent the collaborative nature of ...

New Projects for More Eyes

This is the population of Baltimore or Milwaukee.  The pressure is on to be both compelling and accountable. As such, the hardest work these days comes before I draw or animate anything. The difficulty now comes with writing and choosing which script to turn into a video.

I just finished one that depicts an uncanny similarity between God and a domestic abuser (I did some research on domestic abuse, and reading what abusers say was like reading bible verses). That is not a unique idea, but...

Extremist

There were so many stumbling blocks with this video that I’m really surprised at how happy I am with the final product. Sometimes persistence is key. Recreating my drawing in animation form opened up all kinds of cool possibilities that accentuated the narrative and allowed me to take the viewers’ eyes precisely where I wanted them to go. As some of you can see, I did take some of your suggestions. Thank you for your input. After I created the credits, I watched and re-watched them scroll by...

Trying something different

This is a drawing I did of my son recently. It was the first drawing I had done on paper in few years. I was happy with it, so I was confident in trying a new time-elapsed drawing for my next video (had some animation fatigue after the last one). I really like the composition I came up with, but after several attempts, I remain displeased with my renderings (it's much more complex than this portrait).

So, now I’ve decided to try an experimental approach: a combination of my more traditional ...
