New UV-reactive florescent insect charms are now in the shop! Check out these three fabulous bugs and pick your favorite (or nab all three!)

Inktober: Take home an original!

I'm taking part once again in the Inktober challenge, which means by the end of the month I'll have finished 31 original ink drawings after doing one every day. I'm using a few different pens this time around, including my classic Pentel Pocket brush pen, my Kuretake Fudegokochi pen, and perhaps a little multiliner here and there when needed. I intend to go from what I learned last year to make a bunch more neat and interesting pieces this year! Here's #1:

September doodles

Sunday morning light across my sketchbook. It's mid-late fall here in Estevan. Gonna be pretty weird to hop right back into late summer temperatures when I fly back to Philadelphia in a few days!

Switching to "Charge Upfront"?

So I'm thinking of switching this campaign's setup to charge pledges upfront, when pledged, rather than only processing new pledges during the next cycle. This will let new patrons access content faster and protect me better against fraudulent pledges! What do you folks think? Here's a little more info:

- Existing pledges won't charge any differently than they do now. Ongoing patrons will see it go through the first of the month as always.

- New pledges will charge right away, granting a...

Summer Lunas

The moths I've been caring for this season have all eclosed in the last two days! The top one with slightly warmer colors is a male; the other two are female. Two of them have an interesting stripe on their wings that I've not seen on lunas I've raised before. The females are Dawn (no stripe) and Willow (stripe), and the male was named Angel by a friend.

I've been drawing them a little to relax and keeping an eye on them to see if I might get a pairing. Here's a peek into my sketchbook:

Kickstarter Stretch Goal Pin

Everything went better than expected!!

I am truly amazed by the support shown to my moth pin campaign yesterday - we hit funding in only 13 hours! That's pretty impressive, at least to me running my first campaign. People really want this pin!!

Reveal: Bug Club Reward for April pledges! 🐝

So I mentioned in the March review that the next reward for Bug Club patrons will be a special color print of the Honeybee Bugdana. Since we're getting near the end of the month, it's about time to let you get a look! This yellow-on-black version of the design will be sent out in May to all Bug Club members. They will be arriving here the first week of May with the rest of the new bandanas. Only a dozen of this colorway are being made during this run.

If I have any extras after pledges have be...

Website updated!

Thanks to your help this month, I was finally able to find some time to get my website caught up! There's probably an odd or end somewhere I could tweak still, but the portfolio should now be up-to-date as well as the events schedule and links throughout the site. Hooray!

Adoptable Character: Metallic Sweat Bee

Recently I had some interest in adoptable characters, particularly bees, on Twitter,  so here’s one I made between projects this week! It’s from a metallic  â€œsweat bee” species found in the US & Canada. She doesn’t have a  home yet as of this post!

There's kind of a secret bonus to being a patron I haven't advertised as a perk because it doesn't come up that ofte...

Postcard Reward Upgraded!

I just got the next couple batches of postcards from the printer, and I have some great news. I've upgraded the postcards from the previous size, which was about 4.1" x 5.8”, to a larger 5x7" cut! They're on the same sturdy cardstock and are still perfectly mailable if you so desire, but now they're the same size as my small prints and can be framed or displayed in the same way. I hope you like this change and those of you signed up for the "Postcard Perk" tier or higher are looking forward to...
