Sticker progress!

I'm working with a printing service on making stickers! This is just one thing of many that I plan to sell beyond books. The initial prototype is in the photo above, and should be very close in the final. Sorry for the washed out looking colors in the pic. (I didn't take it either)

Just wanted to share so far. These will be on sale at Anthrocon 2020 this summer. :D

The options just keep running out. :\

The process begins!

While I certainly plan to do my own personal print run of the comic, I applied to my first publisher today! Big thanks to the Fedex Office guy behind the desk. I wanted to do physical submissions if allowed by the publisher, because I believe there's something special about tangible viewing of a printed work rather than a digital email in someone's inbox. Plus I think it shows the extra initiative, hopefully giving a bit more consideration.

Welp, this is the phase of the game where a lo...

Milestone Hit! Volume 1 is FINISHED! (and more)

First off, I want to give a HUGE thanks to all my Patreons that have supported me these past couple years. It means a lot and helps with the motivation to keep going. As stated in the title, I have completed my first graphic novel Cashmere Sky: Volume 1! It clocks in at just over 150 pages. However, this isn't the end, but only the beginning!

Obviously the pages are going to keep getting posted online every week until the book is finished. In the meantime I have mountains of work ahead ...

Cashmere Family Portrait

I had this idea in my head for a long time, but never got around to it. Eventually, I needed something like this for the comic, so what better time than to do it now. I wanted to keep it simple, warm, and show one of their better moments. Arlo just can't help himself and keeps being a goofball, something I did at his age as well... admittedly more often than not. I'm a weirdo. XD

Epiloque Sketches

The comic is moving as expected (yay), but thought I'd post a mashup of raw sketches from the final pages of Volume 1 (no shade or production at all). There's still a bit I'm keeping out, just for those extra surprises, but here's the batch. :D

Home Improvement :P

Sometimes in the midst of doing certain stages of the comic (line work in this case), I continue going on specific scenes when I'm eager to see it fully realized. Here's the house I posted a few weeks ago with some rendering. It may not be the final version yet, but it's pretty close. Moody! :D

Epilogue screenshots

More refined than the last post of thumbnails I posted, these are some cleaned up sketches with some rough lighting for experimenting (gray tone). I stated a long time ago that the book was sort of like a feature film on paper, inspired by animation, and from looking at these... feels like that "storyboard" process in the a project like that haha.

Anyway, here's a few upcoming scenes. You may notice an older Enzo in one of these. ;)

The finish line is in sight!

Not to give away too many spoilers, but if you want to see the finish line to the end of Volume 1... here it is! These are super duper rough just so I could find balance and visual narrative. Although, there is a bit more polished version of perhaps... an older Arlo in those last pages. :P Obviously without the text, it may be hard to understand the context which is why I'm willing to post it. ;D

The world exploding with an alien invasion is something I'm debating. I might end up having...

Family Portrait WIP

I've always wanted to do an official family portrait, and ironically I found an unlikely reason for doing it sooner. While I can (and will) easily finalize this piece after lots of fixes and cleanup, it was mainly for just some detail in a bigger scene in the comic (aka a picture on the wall). I also wanted to do it for symbolic reasons. Hopefully that will resonate later on.

Here's the whole fam, dysfunctional and all. ;D

House Evolution

For any artist starting on a comic or graphic novel, art evolution is inevitable unless you're the paranoid type that keeps redoing the pages infinitely. (I would advise against that)

While I believe my skills have improved, I've gained a clearer picture of what I want too. I had inspirations and references a few years ago, but kept the design and architecture simple and quaint. Through the years, I've realized that I wanted more realistic aesthetic and pronounced architecture, essentia...

The home stretch begins!

As I begin the epilogue of Volume 1, I wanted to share some of the earliest steps of a page. I don't always do every page with this process, but sometimes it helps to slop it down quickly to get a bird's eye view of the page, panel, and pacing.

These are EXTREMELY rough as I wouldn't even count them as a first pass sketch. Consider them... preliminary sketches haha. However, like every time I try to just "sketch something fast", you can see I was putting more work and detail to ea...

Traveling Smuggler

This was just a random sketch idea I've had. It's certainly not the final by any means, but have been getting my head into the idea of making my characters older for um... writing reasons. ;)

This is a slightly older Lily that's had more than a few years to learn the ropes in the smuggling world. You meet a lot of dirt bags, but the payoff is worth it... isn't it? Her dad isn't exactly the best role model. XD

Getting closer...

As this long summer 18-page power struggle is coming to a close, I can finally say I'm only about 2 to 3 pages away from finishing the climax of the book, which leaves me only 6-8 pages left for Volume 1! It's been a haul, but rewarding!

Here's another snippet from a finished page including bubbles (no text). I had an inquiry to my editor about using dark bubbles for the darker outdoor scenes and he preferred it, as it's easier on the eyes. I'm not sure how people will feel about it, bu...
