EA-CS-VOL2-78
As I dive into the next section, I've been getting some cleanups on the characters. I'm enjoying the scene since it has a lot of movement, characters, and dynamics. More to come!

I wanted to share this since it was something I talked about in my panel at MFF a few months ago.
Making a comic is more than just drawing the panels, pictures, and ballooning letters. Visual storytelling is important. If your shots are flat and uninteresting, it can bring down the entire scene, regardless of a sharp script. I've probably brought this up before, but I've been trying to bring more depth to shots as it's easy to get lazy in the grind of comic making.
As I've been di...

As a final commission for the time being, I had the pleasure of doing a Ratchet (dark Ratchet in this case) fan piece. As an avid player of the games myself, this was a fun one. I went with an action pose and one of his signature guns. The background was thrown together but I sort of imagined it like a force field trapping him in an arena inside the city as he fights his way out.
Also yeah, commissions are shutting down for the time being. I'll make announcements if / when they open bac...

This is a character I've been noodling around with that's coming up in the story. He's had many names before this, but I landed on Vincent. At first I wanted him to be butch and bully-like, but then went for a slender look. His appearance and clothing might have people wondering about his past. As I keep thinking about his character and role in the story, there's a possibility he may be a more significant part to it. Time will tell as I keep writing!
This is maybe draft 2 or 3. He could...

First, I want to thank everyone again for their continued support! It really means a lot. The commissions I've received have also helped out on some unexpected bills I've been hit with, so thank you!
Above are the commissions I've done for some generous patrons. All of them were different and unique ideas. It's always an adventure when commissions open up! I also wanted to use this post as a "last call" for anyone considering jumping on the commission bandwagon. After this week, I don't...

Yeah, you read that right. :D
After a great deal of thought, I've decided to open commissions again for patron members exclusively! The last time I did this was in 2020 in between books. Without getting into the details, the last few months have been a bit crazy in my life, so opening commissions will give me some much needed extra income.
These are patron prices ONLY (not public). For transparency, they are slightly higher than 3 years ago, but they are still much lower tha...

As a brief update, I'm still grinding away on a new section. Line work and color prep have started. I'm hoping to get this done before the end of the month. As you can also see, I had some fun doing a quick sketch in a more toony style for Enzo. The comparison is like TV show vs. movie design. The movies aren't meant to make him grumpy though lol.
We can also see Daphne bringing the high school drama. She's a firecracker alright, and tough one to figure out. I've looked back to the earl...

I hope everyone had a great holiday season! I know I haven't been very talkative over the last month, but things have been busy! 2023 is going to be throwing me some challenges that I've never faced, so my anxiety has been very high lately, but I'm still chugging along on the comic!
Here are a few cleanup shots (minus the standalone Daphne) with the next scene I'm working on. It's a fun one, though I always like Enzo / Daphne scenes hehe. Lots of awkard and scary dynamics happen. :O

The next scene has started production and boy howdy, crowds... they scare me lol. Drawing lots of NPC's can feel daunting, but I know it pays off in the end. I don't want Ion Valley to feel empty, so I understand I really need to push myself to make it feel populated. I'm also trying to focus on more depth to my shots. It's so easy to make it flat and sideways. The scene above was definitely used from reference, but it makes a better composition (and no one will know unless I tell you hahaha)...

This was an obscure, but fun parody piece for a patron commission. The piece is in reference to the 80's comedy Better Off Dead with John Cusack. It's up there with Ferris Bueller's Day Off. If you haven't seen it, I HIGHLY suggest you do. It's freaking hilarious! South Park actually did a parody episode on this movie.
For reference, watch this clip, but please watch the movie! It's great!

Just a few booth shots and the new books! Links and ordering options will be available in the coming days (waiting on publisher).
My table was 4ft shorter than I though, hence the flat sided banner haha. Oh well! Here goes!

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving (if you live in America). Before I head out to MFF 2022 this week, I threw together another sketchdump of a previous scene. This one is exclusively Arlo and Enzo having some brotherly moments. Some are goofy, others... not so much. This scene's purpose was to explore both of their personalities further as they eventually talk about some touchy topics.
Also, my books came in from the publisher! Volume 1 will soon be on sale and you'l...
