I've been working on a present for you guys who help support my effort. Your support is more appreciated about the stoke than the dollar (or 2) that you generously give me... so now here is some stoke coming your way.
Before I get to that, I just spring cleaned the channel details on Youtube and Facebook and found my original logo photo and forgot what it looked like in color. In case you didn't know, this image has a lot of meaning for me. I was holding exposure for a...

We built 3 different shapes of spacenets and put dynamometers on the legs, perimeter and inside weave to see where all the forces are. You can find the chart of all this data at https://www.slackademics.com/hnth/forces
Thank you Andy Lewis @sketchyandylewis for lending your dynamometers for science.

We filmed the entire process of rappelling, climbing and rigging all three lines at the super classic Lost Arrow Spire in Yosemite. We show anchors and rappel spots on both sides of each line. This hopefully will save you unnecessary gear or a failed attempt when you climb and slackline the Lost Arrow Spire.
Thank you Friedi Khune, Lukas Irmler, Kyle Lovett, Kim Weglin, and Zollie Goodman for being involved on this project.

We did 14 tests on our new favorite 3 bolt pattern - the equilateral triangle. We did sliding Xs and BFKs and short anchors and long anchors and static ropes and dynamic ropes. Our results were shocking, so check it out so you know what is going on inside your anchor when you go highlining.

Matt Stolling shows you how to tie a button knot soft shackle with the camera over the shoulder, and then we break test it at the end (with slow motion) at 72.9KN. We also demonstrate the different ways to tighten the knot.

Watch the differences in the dynamometers when we embed them into a slackline pulley system. If you think of other fun slack science experiments we can do, leave a comment or if you want to make an episode that we share on this channel, message me on my personal fb page and we can collaborate.

We tried the Slack Inov Split in the park. My new favorite way to connect 50 meter sections of webbing for safer and more convenient highlines. We walk it, we slide rings over it, and we play with a main line failure... and I still love it. And walking a combination of super static webbing and super stretchy webbing felt quite nice when I was slacklining.
Thank you Cam Peters and Tj Gillick for your help with this episode.

I have a master data sheet of over 300 break tests that I have done on my slack snap rigs and only have published a small small fraction of my results. Once a week is not very much with all the info I want to share plus every break test leads to more questions than answers. I would like to offer my patrons something that no one else has access too. Do you think this is something you all would be interested in. If so I'd polish it up so it is understandable to any...

Hi Patron Supporters! This is the first episode where other slackers put together the entire thing. It is awesome to support other people who are stoked, knowledgeable and wanting to share their craft. It still takes a considerable amount of time to coach people through all the complications of making an episode so thank you for supporting this channel, and having help making episodes allows me to lean in deep into other topics to make the content even richer. One continuous piece on long highlines is dangerous because if the main were to fail, you would fall a long, long way down before the backup caught you. It's also impractical to buy a km long piece of webbing because you will never want to carry it for any projects that are shorter and traveling with it is difficult because it is over the 50lb bag weight limit when you fly.
So after much research, we are presenting you the Slack Inov Split method of connecting 2...

Straight bolt patterns for highline anchors equalize quite poorly and BFKs are random at best. If it really matters what is the best pattern to get perfect equalization. 4 bolt patterns did well with giant parabolas and 3 bolt patterns did well with an equilateral triangle. Check out the numbers on each leg of our anchors in this video.

We did a job with Andy Lewis and this is how we set up temporary slacklines without trees. The bolts we used were https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005EH2N5E/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o07_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 and the chains I used were the cheap 400lb rated ones from my local hardware store. Check out how we rigged the spacenet at GGBY 2018. We had 4kn on the line most of the time and the spider silk breaks at 42kn in all my slacksnap tests and we had 4 layers of it. It wasn't perfect but it was super safe enough! Getting 2 lines to hold the tension didn't work out but with the slackline above (the jelly line) holding the corners up, it reduced the force by half.

About a year ago, we should "automatic" equalization was a myth when using a sliding x for an anchor and that BFK anchors were random at best. The bolts most in line see the most force and the closest bolts see the most force, so we cancel them out in this video by putting the center most bolts much further back than the sides and we were able to achieve equalization with our sliding X. This may be the future pattern we start to use when bolting highlines. Thank you Ben Donnell...

What are the limits of a drone. The small Mavic Air and DJI Spark drones can carry a surprising amount of fishing line or paracord but it is also interesting to see what the limits are so we know how far we can push it when we try to tag highlines. Caution: this is NOT what drones are designed for and you can damage your drone or get hurt and if you need to be told this, you shouldn't be flying drones.
Thank you Ray Hoffman @TheVagabondPT for filming!

Normal highline situations generally have a healthy safety ratio but when we start doing projects where there are a bunch of people on one system, it can get risky if not properly rigged. The Ticket to the Moon project with hammocks in Bismantova Italy inspired this video and you can watch that at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z26ec23NJCA. The set up had an MBS of 120kn and they put a max force of ...

When we rig a spacenet or highlines that many people will be on at 1 time, we need to make our system stronger. Can we do that by making 2 webbings work in unison by doing parallel redundancy. Does tensioning 2 webbings together give us 2x the strength?
Thank you https://raed-slacklines.com/ for donating the weblock and webbing in these tests.
