Sleepless part 3 process 🪫

I almost gave up on this one. It has been a while since I painted a background so I was like, maybe I don't have it in me anymore, but persistence is always key with art! I wish I was a shining star process

I started this piece in January and I took my time to let it cook. I used a bunch of mediums and programs to create this one. I switched between photoshop, procreate, blender, watercolors, markers, and colored pencils. I find myself enjoying the process so much more when I try different things at once.

I've been working on this piece while juggling other things this month. I originally wanted it to be in a horizontal 16:9 ratio to make it feel like a screenshot from a movie. But I figured vertical composition would work best with Instagram. Lately, I have been wondering if I should remain faithful to the original vision for my artwork or try to adjust to social media to reach more people. Somebody should study the effect of social media on contemporary art :')))

This painting went through so much. I repainted it like 20 times. I started it on my sketchbook in April of last year then tried to paint it in Photoshop like every month. My mental health was suffering at the time so it came out looking lifeless no matter how much I tried. You can see how clearer and lighter it looks now because that's how I've been feeling lately!

Moral of the story: take care of your mental health <3

I've have this problem where I have more ideas than I could commit to. Also, I'm not satisfied with the way I execute them so I'm not chipping away at the list of ideas waiting to be drawn. I don't know what to do ;__;

This might be a good thing that will push me to improve my art or it could be the end of my career, who knows.

follow that heart - animation & process

I had a vision of this idea while I almost fell asleep. I had to reach for my phone to write it down so I didn’t forget it. This doesn’t happen to me often but when it does, I have to draw that idea no matter what. I feel like my mind is trying to tell me something and that I should listen.

I made some changes to the original idea like, the character was supposed to turn her head to the other side but that was too complex to animate tbh haha. But I’m kind of happy with how it turn...

Half a dream - sketch & inspiration

Part of the inspiration was this butterfly that I found with a ripped wing. Its wings somehow got wet then it got stuck on the ground. Luckily once the water dried out of them it was able to fly again :’)

I struggled to create the feeling I wanted during the sketching phase but I finished the piece fairly quickly. My sketches always tend to look like children who may or may not grow a bit older in the process haha

Back in march, I was listening to this song called Welcome Change by Phum Viphurit and I absolutely fell in love with it. The words “ I want to be kind to you" kept ringing in my head days after hearing the song. I was going through a hard time and to be honest, I was not feeling amazing about myself. Then this idea was born while I was doodling. I must’ve repainted it at least 10 times until I was finally happy with it....
