Here's a WIP (pencils) of a new comic page I'm working on. This comic features Critter, who happens to be a very cool Canadian furry comic artist. The setting is the luxurious Fox Pine Lodge, a mountain getaway resort that might be a bit GAY 🏳️🌈🦊
After some thought I decided to draw it on comic board paper with traditional media to give it a classic look. This is the first comic page I've drawn since 2015, and the first time I've tried traditional inking in about 10 years (inks aren't ready to post yet). So I'm rusty but I'm happy with the result so far.
If you're wondering about why it's blue, using blue pencil for the roughs is nice because once the page is inked, the blue lines can be easily filtered out from the scan. I also uploaded a version where the blues have been converted to grayscale.

I was thinking about Raccacoonie from Everything Everywhere All at Once and I recalled this old sketch. Here, Aiden is clearly controlling Colin like a robot so they can cook fabulous cuisine. There is a non-zero chance that the producers of EEAAO were inspired by this Raccoony sketch to create Raccacoonie.
I drew this in a coffee shop in Tokyo in 2008, so this is in one of my Japanese friends' sketchbooks.

Stirring the pot is more fun when you're in it. Featuring Sr. Fennec.
Sr. Fennec (Twitter/SrFennec) is a great artist and this idea was sparked by something he said on Twitter. Sometimes I gotta draw the silly ideas when I get 'em. :)

A vintage pen and marker drawing celebrating the Year of the Rabbit.
I drew these two zodiac cycles ago (24y) and I was hoping to do one for each animal year. But I only did two, a tiger one and then this rabbit one. Maybe I'll do the others in the future. :)
I'm working on some new stuff but it is taking a long time so I hope you enjoy the old stuff in the meantime!

Serge, the Rabbit of Paris Métro, has an important safety message for you! If you've visited Paris and ridden the Métro, you will have encountered Serge's safety messages all over the metro cars. Those cars will pinch you in all sorts of places if you're not careful! Attention à ta queue !
I drew this as a bit of Serge fanart. He's a cutie and it's the Year of the Rabbit so why not? :)

A fox is in a spanking machine (that he likes).
This is an old sketch that I just colored. The original sketch is also attached. I think the sketch was from around 1998. I couldn't find the physical sketch and all I had was that low-res scan so I tried AI upscaling. It did alight!

Colin the fox and Aiden the raccoon have an adorable sledding mishap in the pink glow of the setting sun. I drew this last year and it was inspired by the mountain views where I live.

"No, you wear the cuffs this time!"
Those who've been following my art for a while know that I'm no stranger to drawing kinky scenes, and they're often kinda silly. This is a pen & marker piece showing a cute couple having a playful disagreement about who's gonna be the sub today.
This piece is from 1998, 4 years before I drew my iconic raccoon & fox comic duo. Any resemblance to Colin & Aiden is purely coincidental.

This is a comic sequence that I drew 25 years ago (1997), right after I graduated from college. A lil masked bandit tastes the proverbial fruit of knowledge and it expands his horizons. Knowledge is transformative. I think this is my first piece of sequential art. Also I think it's the only time I've tried to draw a TF sequence although at the time I didn't even know what "TF" was.
This piece has become a family heirloom with the original and at least one copy hanging in some of my family members' homes.

This is an old pic from 2011. This version with sheath was actually the original and it's the "clean" one that is the new edit that I just made today. I touched up a few minor things on this pic while I was editing.

This is a mini-comic in honor of some video games that were important to me as a young kid. The games are Rocky's Boots (1982) and Robot Odyssey (1984). They taught me how to design digital circuits, knowledge had a profound impact on my life.
Rocky is a cute lil raccoon who likes to tinker with logic gates. He'll teach you the basics and get you ready for the next game, Robot Odyssey, which is an odyssey in every sense of the word. You wire up robots with logic, programming them to solve problems in a crazy robot world called Robotropolis. The puzzles were so challenging that even nerdy lil' old me couldn't solve 'em all until I went to college and learned advanced techniques.
I've had to pivot on my art objectives so this little project is going back on the shelf for now. I still plan to finish these one day. I thought I'd share the WIPs with you.

Here's an update for patrons on how the Raccoony work is going! The strips were originally scanned and optimized for early 2000s web viewing (1024x768). But Raccoony deserves better so I've been remastering and recoloring the old comic strips.
The process goes like this. I grab the Raccoony Bible (photo attached). You can see how the original comic was drawn in a hardbound sketchbook. Most of the pages are there in that book. (I've been told by other artists that this is a very weird way to work. I won't deny that I am weird.)
Bible in hand, I re-scan the originals at 600dpi. You might ask, "But Leaf, isn't 600dpi overkill for a webcomic?" Yes it is way overkill! But I'm excited to say that There Will Be A Raccoony Comic Book! The high-resolution comics will print a lot better. I'm not announcing the book yet though because it'll be a ways in the future.
Then I clean up the raw scans. Apply the typical Photoshop trips like adjusting levels. Sometimes a bit of hacking with digital pen & eraser to mend little issues that were present in the originals. You can see the cleaned-up BW version of the comic here. Historical note: Originally there was no intention for Raccoony to be colored. I wanted to work on inking techniques and I was perfectly happy leaving it black-and-white. Some fans had offered to color the strips for me, and thanks to their efforts we have the classic colored strips that we all know and love. But the B&W versions of the comic represent my original vision for the comic.
I wanted to re-imagine the colors for this remastered version of Raccoony. So I went back to classic comics that I loved and drew inspiration. Bill Watterson (Calvin & Hobbes) was especially inspiring. So I selected new color palettes and coloring guidelines, and solicited some help to get the colors painted on. A giant thank-you to Mag for helping me with applying the colors! This saves me a bunch of effort and he does a fantastic job. Mag goes by Pawgoop on Patreon. He does great toony art. Consider supporting him if you like his art. :)
I'm very happy with how these turned out. For kicks you could try comparing these with old BW & color versions that were posted 20 years ago. I hope you liked this behind-the-scenes sneak peak. :)

Thanks for helping me reach 4000 followers on Twitter! Here are alt versions of this pic without the text and one experimenting with pawpads. Sketch and timelapse are here, too. I used an all-digital flow this time so you can see the sketch happening in this timelapse.
I'm still trying to work out how to handle bonus content. I think I'll make individual posts throughout the month and also have a consolidated bonus post at the end of the month so it's more convenient for you to grab everything all at once. So this stuff will go with the September bonus content at the end of the month.
