My Current Favourite Movie Soundtracks

Following on from my video the other day, where I waffled on about films, I thought I would post a follow up piece listing some of my current favourite soundtrack cues.

No order of preference, just some lovely pieces that always raise the spirits, and soothe the soul.

Superman The Movie

John Rain on the positive power of social media - and James Bond

John Rain aka @MrKenShabby aka the brains behind Smershpod and new James Bond book Thunderbook joins us on the Balance podcast.

Social media favourite John pursued a passion (James Bond), launched a podcast all about his passion (Smershpod) and landed a book deal (for Thunderbook, a very funny book you can buy here).

Don interviews John Rain, host of @SMERSHPOD and author of Thunderbook, who is definitely very much arsed about the Bond films!

There's also a lovely couple of readings from the book at the top and tail.

To celebrate the release of the 25th Bond film, "No Time to Die", Smersh Pod will return to the franchise and forensically examine all 25 films through the lens of a 007 branded pocket camera.

There will be new guests, with all-new takes, all-new side-specials, and some extra hidden treats jammed in the boot of the Lotus Esprit.

Smersh Update

Greetings all.

I hope you are all well? Good.

Well the book is ticking along and going through the copy-edit phase, then it will be sent off to be published, and land in your hands on November the (oo)7th. It's all very exciting and will hopefully be exactly what you all expect: a infantile look at all 24 films.

Smersh 3 has been such fun, but is presently on a small mid-series br...

Barry Norman, BBC, and Bond.

As a child growing up in the 1980s (as I was then), I waited on every word from Baz. He was a hero of mine, and finding lots of Bond-related Baz content on You Tube, I thought it would be fun to share.

Top 10 Things I Would Like to See in No Time to Die

10. A sense of humour

James Bond has been pinballing between grief and sadness for 3 1/2 films now and it would be nice if he could crack a joke occasionally or raise a titter.

9. Excitement

Casino Royale kicked off with an exciting foot-chase, then followed it with a rip-roaring airport chase, and nothing has really come close since. We need to get back to basics and have...

July Q&A answers

Hello!

John here! Still up to Nick-Nacks in the book, which is coming along nicely and only a week and a bit until that deadline.

The other day on Twitter I said I would answer some questions on here, so here I am!

Pete Benson asks:
"Please tell me you’re covering Predator at some point in this series..... "

Yes Pete. I hope to. I have some exciting guests lined up for many classics, but it's a question of waiting for their schedules to be fre...

Update.

Sorry it's so quiet on here. Thought I would give you an update on why. I'm currently recording and editing Smersh episodes for series 3 (starting 24/05), while also writing the book, which will be out in October. So it's been too manic to get any recordings ready for here.
I really appreciate all your support, however, and once things calm down, I'll get a lot more exclusive Patreon for you all.

Take care and thanks again,

John

Smersh Pod book coming October 10th 2019!

The Bond films have entertained annoyed, excited, bored, aroused and invigorated cinemagoers (and ITV4 viewers) for more than fifty years.

Who hasn’t wanted to kick a big bloke with metal teeth in the groin? Fly a small plane out of a pretend horse’s bottom? Or push a middle-aged man into space? No one, that’s who.

Thunderbook: The World of Bond According to Smersh Pod affectionately examines Bond with tongue firmly in cheek and elbow dug in ribs. J...
